There is a lot of water at the front door right now, so I raised it up about 6” so it can’t freeze closed, ask me how I know about that. ;)
We are only going to see teens for the next few days but I did wipe the truck door gaskets with silicone. I never seem to remember and get frozen out at the first real cold snap most years. I couldn’t handle the weather some of you folks do!

Seeing all that rain and pools of water on the ground... ugg. I'd rather have snow than rain like that.
Here in SD, we got a layer of ice, then the cold, and then snow. Pushing snow with that layer of ice under it really *****!

Today we're stuck in the house as the outside is -12F and 30 mph winds. I ventured outside for a bit and quickly called it quits!
The snow that is drifting in the driveway is getting deep and very hard packed with the extreme cold and wind. That's going to be a ****** to move before we can leave to visit the m-n-l for Christmas.
Luckily I have work to do in the heated garage.

Happy Holidays Strouty, hopefully you can find time to relax and spend quality time with the GF. Maybe a Christmas present for your dad would help smooth things a bit?

Not really sure how it missed my truck, but it did, broke into big pieces when it hit the Muv-all, didn’t look like any damage, but I will have to do a better inspection in the daylight. I got the heck out of there and went back to the Salvage Garage, just in time to watch the lights go out. :(

I am now leaving the Hill, Chuck has heat and the fridge is functional. I have about 8 hours before the generator runs out of gas, going to try and get some sleep.

They put a new pole in this morning before 8 AM, now I am waiting on my Brother, I don’t have any chainsaws at the Hill, they all ended up at the SG for some reason. We need to take a few trees down before they come and reinstall the wires. Chuck was all nestled down, breakfast was quick, then back to bed. I dug out another generator, probably going to have to do some backyard electrician hacking to get power to heat up the office and shop, they are on separate meters, that means I will have to do one at a time, then swap back and forth. I also left my coveralls at the SG, so it is going to be a cold morning for me.

Wow, that was quick on the pole anyway. Just got my power back, Crew from New Brunswick got it going. Props to those guys for coming to help and working in some brutal wind and temps.

Just finished getting all the trees down, now there is a huge mess on both sides of the road, going to be a solid day of cleanup, maybe two. I just fed the generator and checked on Chuck, he is doing fine, I will have to add gas to the generator again before bed, it goes about 8 hours. I suspect that we may have our power back sooner than I anticipated, I am glad we got all the tough trees taken care of, would have been a weeks worth of work to get them down with the wires in place.

Thanks everyone, Merry Christmas to all!

It is close to 10 degrees outside, I have to go feed the generator and Chuck, looks like I need to setup the second generator to try and get some heat in the office and the shop at the Hill.

I want to, but I have to deal with the office and shop or there will be frozen plumbing. I have a generator out, just need to figure out how to set it up and make things work. The waste oil furnace needs air to run, I don’t have enough generator to run the air compressor. I am thinking I can try the M18 one and see how it does, might at least let me run things for a while and get the temps back up.

Generator wouldn’t idle up and it was only producing 79 volts, got it to give me 109 and now things are working. I have a small oil radiator style heater, it is warming up, then I can use it in the bathroom in the office, that is where the plumbing is centralized. It should keep putting off heat for a while even after it is unplugged.
