So long time lurker, rarely post. decided with the big changes I have planned over the next few weeks, I'd start a thread.

Quick Back Story, bought my house just over 2 years ago, was bank owned and pretty rough so lots has gone into the interior. Bonuses on this house were:
*its on a golf course
*one of the larger homes in the area, the attached garage itself is just under 1k sqft
*has a pond in the back
here is the pic from the listing as it was before I bought it.

Now onto the fun stuff. I know someone who works for Rock Solid floors so I was able to get in on a deal on the testing for their new metallic series flooring. that was the 1st garage update before I started anything else.
concrete was free of oils and major cracks etc so I etched it and started the coating process

The flooring looked great new, seemed to hold up nicely

Lots of projects over the course of the following years, small upgrades here and there included, new Tool Box, painting the lower half of the wall, and many many auto projects, some fun some not.

Cabinets as the sit today, the garage has been used and abused, welding, grinding tons of wood work, engines built and torn down. it now needs to be freshened up

New better quality garage doors with r20 insulation also were installed this spring, adding the high lift option to the single stall side to clear the lift better

As to the flooring comment in the 1st post, you can see over the time since install it has dulled considerably. My thought is the contrast between the clear topcoat and the base with the metallic flake, is why it looks dull. If I had gone with a gray or even possibly the silver bullet metallic, the dullness would be less dramatic. never the less the time has come for new and the following posts will chronicle it.

Today these bad boys get delivered:
GyVfKnp.jpg

Ordered the Performance plus series in black, 8pc set plus 6 additional uppers. width wise I dont think I'll get both locker units in row where my old ones were so I'll likely find an alternate place for them or move my tool box

The old ones come down tonight, the shelves too, then I'll finish off the top half of the walls with new mud, gloss white paint and maybe a strip for color. then new shelves are the plan, anchored from the ceiling via the shelf brackets used currently, going to use either chain, or possibly black pipe and flanges for an industrial look.

Flooring will also be redone, torn between the silver bullet version of what I have now, or just the standard heavy flake gray. The flooring iotself has adhered very well and will be simply scuffed with a 17" polisher and 60 grit, then wiped with MEK.

I'll take pics and upload as I go. soliciting ideas along the way

future upgrade list includes:
  • possibly anti-fatigue type flooring near work bench area

  • welding table on wheels

  • LED lighting

  • the shelving mentioned above

  • a metal tire/winter wheel rack

  • additional fab tools and stands

*seemed? Past tense. I'm nervous.

sorry saw your post, answered it kind of in a post above. the flooring itself is still all there, minus a small area where something heavy must have been dropped as the concrete itself was chipped. that will be filled prior to new coating.
it just isnt very abrasion resistant, simply things like taking the trash containers to the curb left scratches in it a pebble or something was caught under a wheel. kits dragging toys in and out etc..
I thing most if not all floors would "scratch" similarly but the color I chose makes it much more visible :lol_hitti

That's a lotta cardboard! Have fun with the install. At some point, I'm going to need you to slap some paint on those walls and ceiling....

Todays project, finish the drywall and prime/paint
then move the cabinets back into a more permanent installation, however will be once again removing them to finish the floor likely next weekend.

no pictures, but hung the remaining cabinets, re-routed my airlines, built a 15" deep shelf that spans the entire width above my double garage door, plan to yank a bit more down tonight and shift the bins over from their existing home

will try and snap a few more pictures
