That hand driven drill press is awesome. I've always wanted to get into blacksmithing and be able to make my own tools. I think I've watched the axe video on the home page like three times. I think I will probably build a forge alot like yours when I do build one.

I'd cout out the sides of the hood so as you can get a long piece in the fire, there will be times when you need to heat the middle of a long length of metal and at the moment you won't be able to. I'd cut a quarter circle shape out.

I am new here but a farrier by trade. Love the set up and nice fisher anvil. I just sold a 400lb ish Peter wright too big for a shop anvil.

its a old hand forged chain , with forge weld links , so its there just for looks and preservation , found it in the scrap yard....

Damn I just sold a 200 lb Vulcan it prob was one of the sweetest anvils I had. It was dead sounding but steel turned on it like butter.

The timing could not be better for me. I just picked up a forge and anvil.I have no more space in my garage. So i will have to see what I can learn from you.

i pull'd all my stuff in and out for a long time , it works but that stuff is not light ! haveing a shop just for it helps out a tun ! its all mounted good and in the right place , if you have and thing i can help with just ask...

Pug, Great Shop. Love the place. If I were younger, I would love to take up smithing. Wish I would have years ago. When I was about 10 there was a smith on the corner from our farm. I would live in his shop straightening bent nails till the old Smitty would run me home. Don't know why I didn't take up the hammer, I have most of the tools, but life had other plans. To late for another carrier.
Have to ask: Did I miss something? What happened to the Royal blower? One connected to your forge is the Buffalo. Why is that? I have a Royal that looks identical to yours. Do you prefer one over the other?

Cool shop, that looks like a fun hobby. Out of curiousity, how cold does it have to get outside before you shut the doors or stop working? Seems like you could keep working well below freezing temperatures.

it was stuck , had it working , then it locked up agen ? so i just started usen the buffalo , it was new old stock when i got it , it is not as good as the royal , wish i could get it going but i think its a babbitt bearing and i dont feel like learning how to do pore them..

and thanks i have been going on a year or so now , in march i go to brian brazeal blacksmith school , so i hope to boost my work then...

Yes I did the brick myself it was a fairly easy project. I've got it 8 foot by 8 foot opening in the front and I have 2 vents to install in the peak. We will see how that goes
