Found a use for one of my new mini handles.

Started life out as one of these.

Remove cheapo handle, some bench grinder work, and a drill bit later. Voila!

Thanks! I may shorten it a bit, looks a little odd that long, but works great!

Anyone interested in an orange or red handled one?

Who let this thread die? It's one of my favorites on the GJ!! :D

I have a question on the new(er) Snap-On small reversible screwdrivers. I see them on eBay for $27.95. Is that the going rate for them? How is the quality? Is it the same as the older hard handle screwdrivers?

I think the retail on those is less than $20. The quality is about the same as the original version.

Got most of mine rounded up between work, home and the service truck. There’s a 12 pack first gen soft grip kit on my service truck yet. Won’t fit in the drawer anyways.

My “rare ones” are the orange mini ratcheting (which is noticeably smaller than the soft grip mini ratcheting), the violet mini screw drivers and the metal case of mixed minis. Not sure why the image quality was killed on the upload

Guys, hopefully I can catch a knowledgeable Snap-on enthusiast on this thread!

I bought a Snap-On sliding T handle part# GS12L. If you Google that part number you're only going to find an eBay auction that is over now because I purchased it. Snap-on produces S12L currently and they are a polished chrome finish. The GS12L looks to be black oxide. My cousin thought maybe it was a government contract part number? He said it looks to have the new logo. I guess they changed their logo at some point in time? Just curious about it; I like to learn and research about tools and I'm sure there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum. My wallet cannot survive me-chasing-Snap-on very hard. But I will splurge on 1/2 Drive metric hex bit socket set if Uncle Sam gives me any money back!! Here's the GS12L

As you know since I'm new I cannot start a thread. Another question: my cousin gave me 2 Snap-on half inch Drive extensions that seem to be a brushed finish. SX3 and SX5. They are awesome and the tightest tolerance extensions I've ever seen. So I went on eBay and bought a 10in unused 1992 extension but it was Chrome instead of brushed and the tolerance is not the same. It has a little more play. Or perhaps the brushed extensions have a stronger friction ball I don't really know. I just love the way the brushed ones fit so tight. I sure would like to find a 10 inch brushed to match the 5 and 3. Does anyone know what years these brushed extensions were produced? They don't seem very common as I cannot find them on eBay. I was told by one person they could be from the 70s.

Thanks to anyone that "has all the answers!"

Thank you for that. I learned something already! Well if I had to choose a tool without a warranty it would probably be a Snap-On! When I get back to work I will take photos of my Snap-on extensions if that could be helpful but like I said the ones that fit tight look like a brushed stainless. they may not be stainless but they have that appearance.

The "G" prefix is added to the front of a bunch of part numbers for ratchets, drive tools and wrenches. It only serves to indicate the tool as "industrial finish" or as others have said "black oxide" instead of chrome finish. Nothing to do with "government".

An example of the newest addition to this would be these black hard handled ratchets that were recently released in an industrial finish.

If you are referring to the 4 industrial finish black hard handled ratchets, the are available individually, not as a set. The hard handled industrial finish dual 80's only comes with the black hard handle but you could easily order a handle in any one of up to 10 colors and swap it out.

The part numbers are in my post you quoted.

Chris.
