Those RC has to be 38-35years old, as I was in my late single digit age when I got them. The wild cougar was a Christmas present I got from my parents and then I got the Jumbo Van with the Christmas money right after Christmas so I would have something for my friend to play with while we took turns with the wild cougar. If I recall right, there is a plastic wheel that is slipping on the axle shaft of the wild cougar. Otherwise they are both in playing conditions.
I should bring them down and test them out as it’s been a few years since me and the youngest played with them.
Thats awesome, I know my first car from there was Ferrari Testarossa, I think it was dead 2wks after Xmas, then I graduated into the realm of Kyosho with the 7.2v batteries and chassis that had replaceable components. I still have my 57" deep-v boat powered by a hopped up homelite 30cc weedeater engine

I always wanted to get into the gas versions but never could afford it. Now I got too many hobbies to start a new hobby!
I was given a nitro rc car a few years ago. Before I could use it I was 80 dollars into it for a new remote control and servo. First drive I hit a tree and snapped the front control arm. Now I am trying to find parts for a 15 year old rc car, which I finally found. All that thing did was smoke the tires and break stuff. Shredded gears in trans, just one thing after another. Sold it and have not looked back.
It was my last hurrah before I moved into high school and focus changed to quads and cars. I got it out last winter, bought a new remote in hopes of putting some time into it this year, but that hasn't happened. Like you said, too many hobbies!
I got a nitro car in college one of the summers I stayed on campus, my experience is similar to yours, once i got it running, it just went like a bat outta hell, till you hit something, then it was a 30min drive to the hobby shop to buy parts. It stayed broken for years, sat in a box until I wrapped it into a barter for a ford ranger with the warped head! lol

Tonight I’ve been fiddling with the receiver. I’ve determined that I’m not equipped to test this thing, and trying to figure it out without a circuit diagram or wiring schematic is proving to be difficult.
When I think I got it figured out, I would desolder a link in the circuit board and when testing for sound it would prove me wrong. I was trying to trace back through the circuit board and measuring the voltages as I went. Let’s just say it’s not making sense. I’ve tried cleaning the switches with electrical connection cleaner and deoxit d5 and it didn’t make much difference. I found service manual for other models that was manufactured by the same company at the same time, but none of them seems to match this particular receiver.
I think I need to shelve this unit and find some that works so I can test stuff and learn about the system with an actual service manual for the unit. Just to increase my knowledge of these radios. I also need to look into a signal generator and an oscilloscope to increase my ability to test and remove variables. ***** though cause I had a very nice signal generator back in the days that I ended up selling. Oh well, maybe I’ll come across someone’s old electrical testing station setup and be able to buy it all cheap to start out.

I sure could relieve you of all the stress and aggravation trying to fix that receiver and the time and money looking for testing equipment.

So a small victory was needed after the radio deal. I took some magnets that had threaded holes with short bolts, heated the bolts to enlarge the mounting bracket to the soap dispenser. This allowed me to install the magnets to the soap dispenser to the bracket easily and now a soap dispenser resides on the side of the fridge by the sink.
Nice and easy project.

Wife had a slow leak in one of her tires, so I pulled the tire off and found the nail.
Pulled the plug kit out and plugged the hole.
Got the tire plugged and went ahead and rotated the tires at 15,000 miles. Brought out the new torque wrench to torque the lug nuts.
The car is back on all 4.
A package came in today. I ordered a leaf blower hanger for my ryobi leaf blower from a guy on esty. It’s 3D printed and pretty stought.
Only downside is I have to take the battery off the leaf blower when it goes on the wall. The hanger itself wasn’t expensive but the shipping is killing a lot of deals out there. But it was cheaper and quicker then getting a 3D printer…..

So I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t going to have time to build the doors I really wanted. With winter coming I needed to get some doors on the bunker. So using what I had on hand, I only had to buy a sheet of plywood.
Beginning,

Same process of assembly of the doors like the shed doors. Wife offered to paint the doors so they got some paint.
After the doors were done we invited a neighbor over and we sat on the porch while talking.
Then I put some time in the bunker and got stuff out of totes and got all of the empty totes out of the bunker for now.
Tomorrow I’ll keep working on organizing the bunker while the smoker is going.

Made some headway in the bunker.
Here is the starting point.
I modified the gun case hanger. I knew it wouldn’t fit all of them after this mode, but the majority is back up there.
I got some bed rails from trash day and cut them to dimension. I also cut the cow poke fence to fit between the rail.
I also took the time to season the wisk disc from @jblnut , I’m planning to cook some discada soon and the disc needed some attention. Some olive oil and time on the burner got it cleaned enough to cook.
After cleaning and organizing I got the bunker back in shape.
Now to relax and finish cooking for Labor Day.

Finally got to take the boat out on my birthday. I just cruised around Pittsburgh to let the boat run some and burn the gas in it.
Water was really calm,
Till I went down the river…
Nice view of the point and stadiums.
One of the things I wanted to confirm was if the boat was taking on water still after I did the temp patch of 5200 on the gash I found on the bottom of the hull. It was dry as it can be so I call it a successful diagnosis. Now to do the permanent patch from the inside.
Back at the barn, I put an extra keurig that I found in the house. Apparently my wife brought her keurig from school and I didn’t know it. So I got some containers to put tea and sugar in the the barn. Coffee holds hot cocoa for my youngest.
I did some wood work for the father in law. I had to bust out the scroll saw to cut some of those corners he had in the pieces.
Today I picked up a receiver from Facebook. Talking to the guy he said they only used it twice when they had a camper and when he sold it, he kept the receiver.
So for $50 I took it home and it sounds really good! I kinda wish it was louder but overall it’s a nice receiver.
I can connect via Bluetooth with my phone and it has connection for the record player.
Had to test it out before I do any permanent setup.
Now to clean up the bench, setup the speakers in their permanent locations and get the wiring down.

I couldn't/can't work in the shop w/o music, putting the speakers in the ceiling was a game changer! Highly recommended!
Also, nice score on the Onkyo receiver, back in the day they were some of the best w/o spending Macintosh money LOL. I finally had to replace my circa '93 TEAC last year, but its still living on top of the fridge b/c I cant bring myself to toss it

So one of the things that I was concerned about was working the record player. I decided to make a slide out platform that the stereo can ride on.
Here is the two drawer slides on a piece of plywood.
All together now.
Slide out to the bench edge.
How it looks in the rear when pulled out.
I got to get the speakers in their places but overall it looks like it will work.
I also finished setting up the remote light switch so I can operate the garage outside lights from the house without running underground wiring.
Here is the remote in the house. When I redo the wiring I’ll redo these switches and combine it all in one.
Here is the light switch info.
Other then some piddling and cleaning, that was it for today.

I like to watch college football and also have YouTube playing in the background.
My wife would fight you regarding the tv in the bedroom, I’ve adapted to the tv being on while sleeping so it don’t bother me.

Your place your rules. We don't watch a lot of TV. Pretty much MotoGP, and WSBK.
I like the TV in the shop, if I am working and there is a waterski tournament on, I'll put that on, or if there is football on and the wife is in/out she will put a game on. Its also nice when we have people over and use the shop for hosting its nice to have a game on int eh background.
Hard no on the bedroom TV, one thing I am happy the wife and I agree on! LOL

One of the perks of being hard of hearing is I take my hearing aids out when I go to sleep and I don't hear anything. I just made sure the Tv was situated where I don't have the screen glaring in my face while sleeping. Then again, being hard of hearing has a lot of other perks, it's a real good excuse for the selective hearing.....

A little project that I’ve been wanting to do. The steel table I got awhile back is nice but it’s in the way sometimes. So I decided I would install these bench wheels that allows the table to be stable but when pushing the wheels down will lift the table off the floor.
Starting point, these pads are too big for the wheels.
Cutting one side of the pad off.
Got the wheels down installed and painted the bare metal.
Both legs on this side is done.
And here it is in action with all 4 legs completed.
Now I can move the table and not dragging it across the concrete.

I also hung the speakers up on the wall last night but didn’t get any photos till this morning. I’d like to move the subwoofer but for now it works and I don’t think I’ll be installing the heater in the ceiling this year. So it can stay for now.
I also need to splice a short piece of speaker wire for the right speaker. I wanted the wires to travel in the same path as the future air lines and unfortunately either I miscalculated or the roll of 50’ speaker wire wasn’t a true 50’.
But for now it works and sounds good!

True, unfortunately the corner is getting crowded. The upper corner above the stereo is where the future ceiling heater will be installed. Maybe once the heater is installed, I will see if I have room to put it under the heater.

Would the sub fit in the corner under the bench? If it did you could really get some bass into your music, although then you’d have vibrations messing with your turntable!

I roughly understood this concept in high school but learned it more my junior year of college in my apartment. Had a small 8in ported 200w sub in the corner under my hardwood legal style L shape desk I had picked up. Produced some amazing bass. Needless to say, none of my neighbors were happy about it.

Strangely, not much sound was coming through the garage wall when I had it cranked up and the doors closed. Guess the insulation is doing a good job, or I need a louder system.

Sounds like a louder system is in your future. That said, I am surprised how well my R19 walls and R38 ceiling contain the sound in my garage. I can jam out basically as loud as I can take it and only barely hear it at the street. Open the garage door though, while washing cars in the driveway, I have to be careful cause I might make some enemies with my neighbors.Strangely, not much sound was coming through the garage wall when I had it cranked up and the doors closed.
