Here's my teenie weenie utility knife.
Anyone know of a source for blades for this little guy?

Here is the little Stanley that lives in the basement and belongs to my wife. The blades were pretty rusty when I took it apart and I hit them with the 3M rotary disc. They aren’t like new but they are usable.

Um, yeah. You may not recall that we have a thread where I have discussed this at length, OTG. The WWII set in the display case in Chapman's office was the first example I found and sent to them, which I have dated to 1942, as I just mentioned in my first reply.

I remember that - the "current generation" had no clue the eyeglass case sets ever existed! That was funny! I think you kind of got them interested in their own history.

On the mini box cuttters, Mine is a Hyde, and lives on the Tvan key-chain; very similar:

Hyde inside.jpg

they have a website: https://hydestore.com/products/h-42025

Hmmm, their story sort of parallels Chapman - I wonder if the tools are made in the US? Almost sounds like it.

I will take some credit for reinvigorating it, thanks, Outlaw! They gave me some nice kudos on their blog, showing my set in a little glass display case in their lobby. But your memory is slightly off. Tracy Camassar (nee Chapman), a granddaughter, the current owner and Pres., told me they had a small "museum" in the office, but they had never seen a set as old as the one I sent them. They were aware of when they started, and they have some older eyeglass case sets (they were using them into the 1960's!), but had never seen one with the O.P.A. decal, and I helped them understand how it meant it was wartime.

They were so excited they shared plans with me that they had decided to issue an anniversary set in retro eyeglass cases, but it never happened. They couldn't find a manufacturer!

If you've ever tried to contact an older mfgr, their story sounds all too sadly familiar. From an email to me: "The only old records I have is 1 little binder of Chapman ads clipped from magazines in the 70’s and 80’s. I have no records prior to the mid 2000’s, and the Chapman Historian, Mary, who worked here from 1966-2016 passed away last year."

I was talking to her son, Joel, about the Snap-on set I mentioned above and discussed on the Snap-on thread. He was just as astonished as I was and they did a blurb on that one on their blog, too.

Oh heck, I'm going to email them about OTG's leatherette pouch. Maybe they'll know something. Odds are slim, but it doesn't hurt to try.

My guess is its from 50s, as chapman website states they experimented with different cases in that time period.
Probably. I sent them an email. I'll let you know what they say, but I will post it over on the Chapman thread, rather than take this one any further on a Chapman tangent. For that continuing discussion over there, I am wondering if you've compared the bits? Are they both plated? My sets are blackened with whorls of color from being heat-treated.

You know, I've taken to saving clamshell glass cases and storing all sorts of tools in them. I put a stickum label just so I can find the right case quickly. The glass cases work well for keeping loose bits and bobs from disappearing.

Yeah I found that, but shipping kills it.

Azon has them for $8 with "Free" delivery... :ROFLMAO:
Ya just gotta order more stuff. I love their knives blades for mill knives, and the other sliding blade knife. You can easily get high enough to bury that shipping cost.

Here's a few tiny tools(hammer and adjustable wrench being debatable given they're 1980s pot metal from Hong Kong) from a recent lot along with a tiny square.

Wrench is an Eisemann with spark plugs gap & breaker points gauges. Square is a no name.

I like the Eisemann, I have one or two similar.

HD is supposed to carry Hyde, but I haven't got over there.

I hit HD locally yesterday, not a single Hyde tool? (Hyde lists them as a dist... that needs updated..)

The I thought to check where I keep most of the replacement blades for utility, Xacto and the single edge razor blades - sure enough there is a new 5 pack of single hole mini utility blades.

Only the Hyde requires the triple hole... :wtf: I would have assumed that was for long or short extension of the blade...

While walking through the kitchen I noticed that my wife has picked up some small box cutters at sales without me noticing. One must be a Hyde with the three hole blade. The other might be made by Stanley.

Interesting - actually both have some resemblance to the Hydes, The top one for the 3 hole blade (but looks to have placement options mine does not) and the second has the current Hyde blade slide button, (but also looks different in the body) Possibly several generations of differences, or others copying and changing.

I kind of like the latest Hyde, as it has a "strap cutter" feature/notch you can use with the blade retracted. It also claimed to be "front loading" maybe the red button? :dunno:

Not sure what the thing on the bottom is. - Spare blade gate?

Snagged this No. 00 single open end wrench at the flea market this morning. It has a 1/4" opening.

attachment.php

This is the second smallest SOE wrench that Williams made. The smallest was a No. 000 with a 3/16" opening. I think that other marking ("AU. SCR. M.") is an abbreviation for the Automatic Screw Machine Company, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They made a **** ton of fasteners during WWII.

The funny thing is, it's the second one I have found. The first one, found a few years ago, is the same size opening, but marked No. 2, which may be a reference to the American Standard nut size
Lakeside forge co. Erie Pa. 00 1/8"
