Hey, why didn't I think of that!? I love reading about everyone's garages on here, especially the threads about computer/TV/stereo setups. When I get older and have more time to spend in the garage, I'll definitely get something cool out there.

Hello All,

Just a quick update- I've been taking on all sorts of projects in the garage. The lift has dramatically changed the way I work in there. Jobs that I used to dread are so much easier now. Here's the latest video of me monkeying around in there. Thanks for watching!

Hi Tom, I notice that your posts straddle the saw-cuts in the concrete slab? Is that something that is OK by Bendpak? I have a similar situation in my garage and most people have been telling me that i have to rip up the old concrete where the posts will go and pour a new, seamless pad.

Hi Mr Turbo Garage. My first post but I've been reading some great ideas for a few weeks. I am almost ready to start permitting and stumbled on your project when searching "garage doors". Coincidentally, my plans look strangely similar with attic trusses and scissor trusses for a lift. My question is about the brand and type of door you chose for that bay to give vehicle clearance. Thanks, Rick.

Hi there, my advice would be to call BendPak directly. Their customer service is great before and after the sale.

Hi there, the brand/type of door doesn't really matter, but for the maximum clearance, you'll need a jackshaft garage door opener (I chose a liftmaster), which will allow the installer to run the tracks right up against the roof pitch. Just have a couple companies come out and give you quotes, unless you plan to DIY. Good luck!

Hi Tom. Thanks for the info on the jackshaft opener. Hopefully I will start posting pics regularly in the fall. I'll get a pic of my turbo up soon (997). Your talents and planning inspire me as well as the projects of others on this forum. Thanks Rick

very nice setup!!! ... did you apply a sealer to your floor ?? sorry if you answered this, I may have missed it ...

Love the GN ... had an '87 that i sold with 21K miles about 15 yrs ago to raise funds to build a house ... one of the only cars I wish I still had. Looked like yours with GNX style wheels .. loved that car.

Great video. Now I will never look at a sawzall without hearing your sawzall theme and special effects.

Haha thanks man! That dang song was in my head for weeks before I finally recorded it. I actually have a bunch of lyrics for the song too- maybe I'll put out a full-length version of "SAWZALL!" someday. :D

Thank you sir! I never did apply a sealer. I love the "idea" of a sealed floor, just couldn't get myself talked into it after talking to friends who weren't crazy about them years later. What I really want is polished concrete. Maybe someday!

Oh man I love the GNs too. Yours sounded like a great one and I think you should get another! There are some pretty good deals floating around out there right now. Good luck to you!

A pretty cool build and good timeline of the garage build process - I'm sure it's nice to have plenty of room to work and store odds and ends.
As most have said, lucky on the lift, probably makes every car-related task 10x easier and less challenging.
I need one!! but probably need a real garage first, and maybe a house so the garage can be part of that. haha

Thank you! Yes, having the room is great compared to setups I've had in the past. The best part is having an upstairs area to store lots of things out of sight. As for the lift, it has saved tons of time. The best part is no longer being sore 1-2 days after working on the floor. I could do that when I was young- not anymore!

Good luck man!

It's very possible my BIL's father welded those table tops that were made by Aero.

Made not far from where I am sitting right now :)

Just read through the whole thread, fantastic build! I love how you solved the issue of lift clearance.

Awesome cars as well, your Miata is absolute perfection, and I have always liked the looks of the GN. Any pics of your Starion? I have an 88' SHP myself:

Thank you Nate! Although I don't have the Starion anymore, I'd love to have another someday. Yours looks excellent! Here are the pics of mine, the car was pretty thrashed when I got it, so it was a good candidate for a drag car. Thanks again man!
