Cake my wife had made for the "Garage Warming"

When we finished, my wife was somewhat envious so I cleaned her garage out, painted the walls, and put down new snap in plastic flooring. Turned out pretty cool.

3. How did you cut the steel plate/flames?
4. Why three rolls of toilet paper? Soft, Med, Abrasive?

1.That is a long drive to hang out.
2. The man cave is de-tatched next to the house. The garage in our house is hers. Standard 2 car garage.
3. I found a local place with a water jet machine. Put all the measurements into a cad program, dropped off a stack of 4x8 sheets of diamond plate and presto.

first off....

now that we got that outta the way... you must have a very understanding wife...

place looks amazing.. can I (we) ask what the build cost was? In the first pic why did you have the flames going upside down? All the other pics have the flames going upward... Thats the only thing I dont like. Everything else looks amazing!

My wife is amazing. I did everything myself except for the foundation. My brother and 3 friends built the structure ( cheap labor) . I did the interior work myself and pinched every penny to pump out what you see. $45k give or take a few dollars. The flames above the work bench. Never thought about doing it any other way, but it is a good point. I wanted solid diamond plate behind the tv and I wanted a solid row of flames across the back splash above the workbench. Not sure how I would run the flames up around the tv etc. etc.

Very cool you wouldn't need many lights with all that reflective surface, so does she let you in her garage now.

If you are talking about this? It is mainly for looks. It houses the front speakers for the surround sound and some small can lights that shine straight down on the workbench. The front is covered with a piece of custom hand etched thin aluminum. I did not make the design on the aluminum, but did pay a pretty penny for it.

Wow, Love the contrast of the black ceilings and metal everywhere. Details are over the top. A bit too much flame for me, but I love it just the same.

Love the custom details, great application for the light in the bathroom.

Awesome **** dude, I think the bathroom is my favorite area, love that mirror, how many caught the mirror is mounted to a cut down tire? Also, the NOS bottle light on top, killer. Also stunned no one mentioned the blown shoe box, again Killer! Tear the main house down and move the wife in. Your pretty close, I'll bring the steaks and brew? I see that atv tucked around the corner too, as clean as the other stuff I bet?

PS-Just missing ONE thing, IMHO...a chrome 2 or 4 post lift ;-)

Nitrous Bathroom Light with Tire Mirror

That place is very nicely finished highpockets.

I'm not sure if you bought the light fixture or made it, but do the hoses have something to stiffen them up so they can be aimed, or do they just sort of flop down wherever they want?

(BTW, your tire mirror needs some protectant applied - wouldn't want dry rot to set in, would we? )

If you would. post up some specifics of the garage. What size is it, how tall are the ceilings, where did you purchase the metal for the walls, an outside pic of the garage maybe. I also noticed that in the circular portion with the fancy aluminum on it, how about a description how they made it look like that. I see you also have a sign in the circular portion (directly under it) that says "The Man Cave" yet another pic don't show it. Is it a light? I probably have many more questions, but I have to go back and drool over the pics first.

Thanks so much for all the positive feedback. I will try to address all the questions. The NOS light is a real NOS bottle I bought off ebay. I took it apart and drilled a hole in it for the wires. I had a local hose shop make the braided stainless steel fuel hose and mounted chrome oil filter covers on the ends to cover the lights. Inside the hose is some extra romax solid copper wire to add some stiffness. You can bend them and shape them somewhat , but for the most part they kinda flop and hang.

The aluminum above the workbench came from http://www.mozdesigns.com . They crated a 4x8 sheet and had it shipped to me via a freight company. They have craftsmen who use power tools and hand design every sheet. The tools and techniques they use are kept under wraps . I bought a bunch of different sanding and grinding heads and tried to make my own using some sheet aluminum and the results were terrible. So I bit the bullet and ordered a sheet from them.

The "Man Cave" sign came from http://www.photoglow.com/ A local sign shop printed out "The Man Cave" part on some special transparent plastic paper. You can have them made in what ever size or shape you need.

The shop is 24'x48'. The last half of the shop is 28' wide. 10' ceilings.

Thanks. I bought the ls1 engine block off craigslist. It had a cracked cyclinder and the guy sold it to me for $100 . I bought the aluminum connecting rods from a guy on racingjunk.com and the pistons and vlaves came from a local engine machine shop's junk bin. Definitely not a showroom. It is where I work on all the projects any average gear head would work on. From changing oil in the wife's car to repairing engines to watching youtube videos of fails.

Well played sir! I did my garage walls with D-Plate on the bottom 4' and white pegboard on the top! I'm lucky enough to get free metal from the company I drive for. But yours is outstanding!!!
