Re: Cabinet Colors

A little too much red for me :)

Are those Lista's?

I agree...not my shop so I didn't have a choice with the floor color.

Cabinets are C-Tech. The high end aluminum cabinets (C-Tech and Moduline) look great but price out 20-30% higher than the Lista steel cabinets I use. Aluminum is the way to go if you're outfitting a lightweight trailer or a shop environment with wet conditions or high humidity. These companies do make aluminum tool carts which is what I was trying to show.

Moduline does make some really nice pitcarts, i've seen a couple at the track, very well built...and extremely expensive.

I think it might be the same red floor/cabinet setup on ctechs website, a bit overwhelming. White floor with red accent would have bee much more classy :)

Aluminum does not make much sense to me in the garage. Hopefully there will be some affordable high end customizable steel cabinets on the market at some point. Lista is great but out of many peoples budgets...and MOduline/ctech/vault/etc are just outrageously priced.

Alrighty then.

Not quite the same thing as you guys have, but....There isn't much inside since I've been rearranging things between my big cabinets and this one. This was my first Lista box. I bought it used and it came without the mobile base originally. When I bought my other cabinets I thought it would be a good idea to have at least one mobile cart/cabinet. I'm glad I did. I use this more than anything else in the shop. It's so nice to be able to wheel this thing under the car on the lift and have all the stuff I need at my fingertips. It wouldn't be quite possible with a bigger roller, but this one fits the bill. 440 lbs. per drawer capacity - 8 drawers. Colson heavy duty casters with poly wheels. I haven't tried it yet, but I could probably drop a transmission on it instead of buying a trans jack!

bmwpower,

Nice job on the Lista rolling cart/box. Did you build the mobile base yourself or was it a Lista option? If it's not too much trouble I'd really like the size/part numbers of the Colson casters so I can build a similar mobile base.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks! The mobile base came with the casters from Lista - it was all one kit for an SC size cabinet. P/N CB-SC4ML. Not sure of the caster part #, but I can see if they have one.

Here's a pic of one of them.

It's just a spinner handle and the blue thing at the end slides back to lock your socket on the 3/8 square drive. This one happens to be made by VIM (the advertise in PTEN all the time) and I found it at a tool store in Flint, MI. It came as a two piece set- this is the short one and there is another one about 9" long.

You can literally find the same exact thing at HF in the screwdriver aisle with the word "Pittsburgh" on it instead of VIM for about $15 or so for the set of 2.
Those are actually socket extensions too (they make a larger 1/2 inch set, which I found at a store, then found them on sale from the VIM shop). It's kind of funny to plug a thumb wheel ratchet into the back and make it spin a little more in my palm. Also tried a U-joint between the two extensions and can torque 70 ft-lbs or so with it.
