I needed this behemoth like I need a second appendix but it was too close, too cheap and too cool to let go. Seller said it didn't work. I got it home, closed the pump valve and jacked up the back of my truck so it works fine. I recall it being discussed upthread that someone was going to attempt to make a 3D print of the lens. Did that puzzle ever get solved and if so, is there a source for reproduction lenses now? Thanks.

I have an orginal lens. I picked one up with it still intact. Are the replacement lens worth selling?

I doubt there would be a huge market for selling repo lenses but it seems more of these turn up sans lens than with them. There's a thread elsewhere on here where a guy did a 3D print of a Delta retirement light shade and it was amazing. Far beyond my grasp of technology.

I as well need a replacement lens for my S4. My initial idea and what I had been thinking, Is it at all possible to maybe make one on my lathe using a clear acrylic Dowel rod? Or is there any current methods that anyone is already using?

Just an FYI folks. I removed the 30k Nugget set from the GJ Classifieds and listed it on the bay. Good luck!

Tripped over this old D21 21/32" x 1/2 drive single in a box of Cornwell sockets. Ironically, it was the first socket I pulled out and my loins tingled, but alas, it was the only Blackhawk in the bunch......I'm always on the hunt though!!

Oldtuleguy,
I am unequipped with the wealth of knowledge to answer that question, but I suppose that a picture still says 1000 words......a handful of 1/2 drive and some 3/8 drive (with duplicates mixed in)

Is there a site to look up Blackhawk tools to find age? I just found a set that Ive had since I was a kid. I remember a neighbor giving them to me to "start my tool box". Im 50 now and cleaning up my tools. Not sure if these are of any value. They have the push button on the sockets to release from extension? I think I have 18(4 8point) sockets and a 2 extensions and speed wrench and ratchet.

Cruzzer: write a few words then click on the paper lip and download one pic from your phone to the post and it should work. I usually don’t post from my phone but I have a few times and with pics so give it a try. You might be able to put up to 7 pics per post like I do off my laptop but it is a little tricky. Good luck or ask for help if not working

Stopped at a junk store today where the seller had put together a bunch of 6 pc wrench sets, tightly bundled together with 2 zip ties. There was a wedge head Blackhawk wrench in each of the bundles, all different sizes. Asked him to let me put the 6 BH wrenches together as a set but he wouldn't budge. Had to leave them there.

I would sell my Jack if anyone is interested.
It’s just the way it was when I bought it. I planned
to fix it up but right now I’m thinking of moving
and would like to thin things out a bit. It’s just
like the first pic in this thread and I did post
some pics of it on this thread if I remember
correctly. Pm me if interested. Pick up only though.

The 7/16 drive are more popular with collectors. Those are really nice so probably 150$. Worth more with the box they came in.

Are they worth anything?
I'll put it this way. They were marketed by Blackhawk as an economical solution, replacing the need for 1/4-inch drive and 1/2-inch drive, with a drive size right down the middle. When they called them Nuggets, I don't think it was a reference to gold - but some people think they're made of it!

Im surprised at that much. I'm going to liquidate my entire tool inventory in about 10-12 years(maybe sooner). I'm planning to retire and sell everything. Its good to know it has some value. It will help fund the retirement.

How much did he want for each set? I've done that before with similar sellers at flea markets. Took awhile to get rid of all the wrenches I didn't need, though.

He wanted 12 bucks per set and wouldn't budge on that if I bought them all. I wasn't up to paying 72 to score the wedge head set and be left with a bunch of stuff I didn't want. I saw a few Craftsman wrenches worked in there but also a lot of Tora Tora Tora wrenches. By the time the guy got done showing me how badly he didn't want to sell anything I was out of the mood to give a dime to him.

Yeah, that's way too much at risk just for the wedge heads.

HAHA! That describes this common experience perfectly! When it becomes a habit, the next step is shunning - and I have a few vendors in that category.

40119? there is a few other numbers, is that it?

Nice looking set...

If these are all 4XXXX series tools, these would be a 1/2" drive set. I believe that particular style of head for the ratchet was only available in 1/2" drive.

Oh, I get it. I could probably have been a little clearer in my post. Here is a pat pending flex head from I think 61? Not sure on date. Patent is 49, there is another pending, and a 1 date code.

Very nice!

I have identical tools, from the same era, that were owned by my Grandfather.

I own tools made by many manufacturers from many countries, and I’ve used even more over the years.

I believe that the Blackhawk tools you have shown, are the finest that have ever been made, anywhere!

The fact that they were made when they were says much about the quality of U.S. manufacturing at that time!

I have another one that list the pending patent, 2981389, which was granted to new britain in 1961, so it does seem likely this ratchet was from 1961. Apparently blackhawk had not abandoned their date codes by that time.
