Here it the (late?) 1930's Blackhawk OK10 Set that I picked up a couple of months ago. Finally got around to cleaning it up and taking a few photos.

Just found this on Craigs list (Inland Empire) if someone is interested. It's not to far from me and I don't mind helping
I have one already

The red version of this Port-O-Power came up for $250 in the next state over. Luckily it was outside of my cruising zone otherwise I would have had a hard time not buying it.

^ I sent Private Lugnutz (almost) that same set (11N as opposed to 11ND) a few years ago, with a ratchet that the PO had added to the set. I paid nowhere near $300 for it.
Prices being paid for some sets the last couple years are mind-boggling, to say the least.

Prices in general have risen dramatically on the vintage stuff. You should see the market on same vintage era craftsman stuff. However I feel like the market has peaked and is trending downward with inflation on the rise. But alot of us collectors still hit the swap meets and garage sales and dont pay full pop on ebay.

^ Yes, but in this particular instance it's extra crazy because the set is shy several pieces - none of which are going to be easily found.

Not too difficult to see what happened by looking at the bid history. Some people have more money than common sense.

I stumbled across a Porta Power at a sale in the Seattle area today. This is a private sale and the nice folks running it had no idea what it was. Unfortunately there's no way I can fit this in my basement but if anyone in the area wants info on the sale, shoot me a PM. It was still there as of this afternoon...

Is that a blackhawk tool box next to it? Are there any porto power pieces that go with the bench?
What is that green thing with the molding on the lower portion of the box?

I just listed it on eBay for $299 if you want it back!

I would never sell or give that set away. It's the most unique Blackhawk midget set I have ever seen, and I am convinced it's very early. Full write-up from April 2021 linked here.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be much help, I have no idea what pieces go with the bench, and I didn't spend any time looking around for them. The box next to it is an old Snap on, I didn't see any other Blackhawk tool boxes. Not sure what you're referring to in regards to the "green thing with the molding"?

I wouldn't be surprised if some parts and pieces that go with the bench are floating around in the garage, there was a lot of random stuff in there. You'd probably have to dig through a lot of boxes to find it, looked like a bomb went off and stuff was scattered everywhere.

Did they say how much they are asking? Got a friend who might pick it up for me. Like I need it!

I'm sure it would no doubt garner more! It's got the fancy reddish-colored handle spinner! wooHOO!
That set of yours makes this one selling for $300 all the more insane, for sure.

I really need to get an ebay seller account set up... I could make a killing if this kind of stuff keeps up!

I didn't talk money with them as I wasn't bringing it home regardless of the price...but I'd be really surprised if they wouldn't let it go for cheap. They were just trying to get stuff out of there, and they definitely hadn't looked all this stuff up on eBay. They had no idea what it was.

I dream of sales like this. I haven't come across one like this in a long time. It does give me hope that I might beat Don to some Blackhawk treasure trove hiding in a garage somewhere. :D

I went back to look after reading your post. Looks like almost half dozen bid snipers on this auction. Maybe they all set high snipes looking to lock in the win and it backfired? It's pretty common to see ridiculous ending price auctions relisted.

^ That is always a possibilty, however remote it might be.

However, watching some other items lately causes me to think that there are some items that are simply commanding what we are viewing as crazy selling prices: insane ebay selling price example of the day

Well, after seeing the insanity spread to Plomb as well, I'm going to have to settle on people have more money than sense. lol

I've noticed it across the brands that I like, which traditionally have been extremely reasonably priced for many items. Plomb and Blackhawk are just two of quite a few brands that I chase around where this new price mania has turned up. For example, early 20s to early 30s Blackhawk common stuff has gone through the roof for some reason.

I'm sure there are a lot of things in play outside of my boundary lines of collecting.

Uh oh. It looks like Snap-on may have used the same knobs, based on images in the Snap-on thread.

(From the patent page)
Description:
This style of metal "brace pad" handle appears in catalog listings for BLACKHAWK "speeders" of the late 1920s forward.
Spin that baby around because you're reading the number upside down my friend. What an excellent find (for the Snap-On thread)!

Wow, you really ****(in the nicest way possible 😂). That’s an amazing find! If it was me I would try to remove the spray bomb and leave the patina original paint.
I will try that first and see what it looks like. I am anxious to get this i am my possession. I will post more pics and info then.
