I'm happy to report that this 3/4 inch drive Blackhawk chest has made it safely to my garage. It was down in North Carolina where I had a local contact purchase it for me.

Here are a few teaser pics.

I quickly went through the contents and I have to say that the Snap-On ratchet is literally brand new on the inside. I've never seen one cleaner in my life.

Awesome find. Congratulations.

This box might be at my house by month's end.

I see that it took a little longer than expected.

I also see that it was worth every dollar and every minute! That is a one terrific acquisition. I still can't get over the condition of that label. Congrats.

That is a beautiful "Treasure Chest"!:drool:

From 1935 BH catalog:

Yes, now I have to complete the treasure that is supposed to be inside. I have a great head start and I also have the small box pictured. I bought it for 4 bucks about a week ago. :)

Awesome find. Congratulations.

I can't really take credit for finding it. Someone posted it here in a thread and since it was very close to a buddy of mine, I had him go reel this fish in for me.

Yea, my buddy told me that he would drag it up here when he was in the DC area for work. Turns out that it took an extra month but as you have mentioned, certainly worth the wait. I'm gonna tease Twertsy with it now! lol He already has one though.

That's it! I'm taking the 3/4 Baldie that's been rolling around in my back seat for the last couple weeks waiting for our next meet up back to its home..........NO SOUP FOR YOU!

I posted this in the DBE thread as well.

Blackhawk 2724 3/4" single off-set DBE with raised lettering instead of stamped. AA has a nice little paragraph about these short-lived wrenches. The captions under each photo state these date from 1928-30 but the paragraph alludes to them being made up until 1940, so I don't quite know how to date mine. Unfortunately, this was the only one from the set at the sale. Paid $3

Brian

In between several garage projects, I moved into my new Treasure Chest today. I figured that I would throw a few pictures up for the other BlackHawk junkies to enjoy.

Oh yeah! That's some old Blackhawk goodness right there.

I found a really odd handle today. Unlike most socket drive tools, something that does not live on in a modern version today. Took me a good half hour to find it in a catalog, too. I'll post it later.

So, here's the odd Blackhawk handle I was talking about, shown with a couple of other 1/2-inch drive pieces I picked up today (a 10" wartime Mossberg extension and a 5" Plomb-made Circle-U Craftsman extension) at the same flea market. Maybe all you guys have one and I am exaggerating its uncommonness, but I have never seen one, including AA.

Blackhawk called this an Obstruction Offset handle in their "Chief" line. It was model number 9203. (Model 9202 was an 11" version.) Note that the 9201 was the regular 1/2-inch drive L-handle, and 9204 was the regular 1/2-inch drive sliding T-handle. I found it in the 1930 catalog. They didn't put it into any sets, it had to be side ordered. Note the small profile. There is a hardly any head to it. It's just the barest minimum to forge a drive stud on it. The Lock-On era detent ball is popped off this one.

I posted this in the vintage toolbox thread but rightfully it deserves mention here. Found in Omaha and used to belong to a Oliver tractor mechanic.

Okay, here is an oldie. I posted it a long time ago in my inherited tools thread, it’s called a “Reck Rack”. Blackhawk made it, and when I called the company about it, alls they could say was it’s old. (No s**t Sherlock)

I’ll be listing it in the classifieds section, as I will have no place to store it and no use for it.

I am new to the site and am glad to see some blackhawk collectors here. I recently came across what I think is a blackhawk no.10 set ca.1920? But have no examples to compare it to. I have included
Some pics

Wow. That set is spectacular! I have catalogs from the era on my site. I'm sure you'll find it there.

it does appear complete. the shorter extension is a few years newer, but everything else appears to be original and largely unused. i have never seen this particular set before, so any info would be great!

Appears to have one big slot for spark plugsockets and the universal. No monkey wrench or pliers in it either.

You've made one hell of an entrance. lol. Welcome to the site.

I can see that the other BlackHawk fans have already dated your set. If you need that stored for safe keeping, send it over to me. ;)

Beautiful find.

I have done a bit of research on alloy artifacts website. He states he has a no. 10 set but it is not ready for display! I did however learn that if the sockets are milled flat on top and if USA is stamped under the Indian head logo, it dates it as early production , probably 1921 or earlier.

There is an "N" after the socket number. Look like late 20s sockets but have locks with no release buttons. Anyone have an idea as to the dates on these things?

Oldtulguy needs to post his location so we can plan a raid on his Blackhawk stash. Great stuff!
