I can't figure it out, CRTDI. All of your photos on the 1/4-inch thread are fine. And on this thread I can see your 17K set photos in post #1072 on page 54 just fine. It seems to be confined, for me, anyway, right now, to the 30k set in post #1060 on page 53. Really weird.

CRTDI's images in post #1060 and #1072 aren't showing up for me anymore either... :headscrat

Here's a trio of lock-on sockets I brought home last weekend. Dated 7; -7, and -4. Only a hint of box rot... :wtf:

Nice. Found this 53 3/8 drive 7/16 deep socket just by chance. Looks similar to later ones so these can be hard to spot.

Here is a nice cog, or ratchet adapter, or pineapple as I have heard them called....

I know 'em as a ratchet adapter. Here are 3 of them in 3/8", 7/16" and 1/2" drive sizes along with their respective free wheeling ratchets.

I see those cool ratchets but no tappet wrenches...

Thought my pic hosting site had its act together today. Obviously not...

CRTDI,

Nice set. I don't recall seeing that kind of buckle ******** any roll-up in the 30's before. That's interesting.

What is the forged-in character/figure following the "L" in steel?

Thanks! As far as I can tell, that figure is just a raised dot or a period.

Thanks. An Armstrong feature. Even without it, they are recognizable as Armstrong, and Blackhawk proudly advertised that they were forged by Armstrong, calling them "one of the oldest houses in the business," when they first introduced open end wrenches to their line in 1930.

It’s interesting all the variations, like Snappy. Just look at OTG’s ratchets. Nice collection btw.

Anyone know what the crow foot wrenches were for?

That was my first impression. Often used for starters or generators mounted to the back of the accessory section. The body of the starter or generator is larger than the mounting flange bolt pattern, so you need a crowfoot that will reach in to the nut, or that has a offset to reach in there.

If you have some 3/8 stuff I am looking for some

Well, there’s a possibiliy I might have a partial set going. Forgot the speeder bar that came with the sockets. I do have a 3/8 breaker bar too, and more loose sockets.

RE: ryan20021982 / 4014X Ford brake adjusting wrench

It appears it may have been preceded by the model 4014 - just a wild guess. There were also "early" and "late" models of the more-familiar 8-point double-end- box wrenches manufactured by Herbrand and others.

It does not appear as though it had a long production run - possibly phased out and replaced with the more-familiar 8-point double-end box wrench, which doubtless would have been lest costly to manufacture.

RE: 3baygarage's wonky "crow foot" attachments:

Something about them looks familiar. They look somewhat similar to attachments made by other manufacturers for use on early Buick cylinder head bolts and some aircraft engines.
Again, as with the brake wrench above, just a wild guess.

As far as "applications":
I only know of the "Buick cylinder head bolt" application because I've seen it in some other catalog listing somewhere or posted somewhere either here or on another site.

Curiously that item was available in the "Duro Chrome" catalog, but never appeared in any "Indestro" catalogs that I have.
