I believe you are correct. Blackhawk appears to have contracted to Carter and Stromberg.

You can see a Stromberg carb set that I posted earlier, see post #380:

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127364&highlight=blackhawk&page=19

It's pretty obvious that a lot of the pieces in this set are Blackhawk produced.

That's a helluva set you posted. Obviously those handles jump out. It looks like those sockets say Blackhawk on them, do they have Stromberg specific tool #'s or?

Thanks, I think it's an interesting set.

Even though most of the sockets are marked as Blackhawk, they are utilizing what I believe is a Stromberg specific numbering system.

I have found all of the baldies up to 3/4 except the 1/4. That one is out there, but not easy to find.

Blackhawk must have employed some stylists in addition to engineers - they sure had some artistic and beautiful tools back then. :)

I'm convinced that the 1/4" Baldie is made of unobtanium as I'm unable to obtain one...:(

Some nice ratchets. I am curious where these Blackhawk findings are strong geographically speaking. I see a fair amount of the QD series stuff here. Some double dots. But that Loc-On era stuff is extremely rare here. I find more 1920s Snap On items than Blackhawk Loc-On. Is this common elsewhere?

Huh must have missed the Gold Rush here in So Dak. I feel I am pretty avid in my searches but may need to step it up a notch [emoji1]

Left SD in 84. We had a fair amount of blackhawk stuff there back then. Was considered a top tier tool brand. Also alot of sk and craftsman.
That's cool. Moved here in 08 after getting out of trade school. You must had cleaned house alot of Craftsman and SK still remain. What side of SD were you on?

Ahh haven't spent much time in Pierre. Living in Sioux Falls so I make to Brookings a few times a year.

Brookings is a nice college town. Really liked it. Pierre is right on the river. Fantastic fishing.

Okay, so I was not a whippersnapper in '84, but I was at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and the only things I was collecting at the time were girls and paychecks! :)

I left to go to college at asu, where I also had a couple jobs and fixed cars on the side.

When I say something about not finding any. The next week stumble across these locations on era stuff. The ratchet is a gem. Had to pay a fair amount but the ratchet sold me. Also picked up this spare 49996 handle for 50 cent. No guts but for 50 cents how could I say no.IMG_20181215_183711051_HDR.jpegIMG_20181215_183719962.jpgIMG_20181215_183727100_HDR.jpegIMG_20181215_183744253.jpeg

Nice. Want to trade those wrenches? I have some extra nugget stuff...
I would be willing to trade them off. What do you have for Plomb trade bait? May take nuggets as well but trying to focus on Plomb.

At the flea market the first Sunday of December I found this Blackhawk ZT-1604 battery carrier. The blue paint appears to be original. I wonder if it was sourced from Bluebird?
