Thought this would be a fun thread to get the Christmas wish list filled out.
Last weekend I was nailing in some Simpson shear plates under the house after replacing a few footings/posts. It was my first time trying to install 16d common nails with a hammer. I got about 2 dozen nails sunk from the 1lb box, and the rest were scattered around the floor, all bent to hell from my efforts. I was near-to-tears furious and frustrated and about to knock the entire F'ng house down with the hammer in my hand--probably would have started to if I didn't have to stop working when I ran out of nails (good thing I didn't get the 5lb box). For $40 I picked up a Bostitch Palm Nailer and used it today for the first time to finish the job, and with another box of nails. I went through the whole box and didn't waste a single nail. This thing is exactly what I needed, and made the job fun.
What about you? What tool have you bought where the only downside was the regret you felt for not buying it sooner?
