You should try riding motorcycles to truly know this frustration.

I'm an ATGATT (all the gear, all the time) rider. Full face helmet, armored jacket, pants, gloves, boots. And it's saved my life more than once.

Anyway, for nearly every piece of gear, there's a company that achieved something close to perfection, then promptly quit making that piece. They have this constant drive to change and worsen the features and design as frequently as possible.

For example, FirstGear made a set of waterproof armored pants for a few years that were perfect. The HT series. Simple, durable, and reasonably priced. Then they released the HT II pants for NO GOOD REASON. More panels and stitching to leak and wear. And now those are gone and the newer stuff is even worse.

Or HJC helmets. I wore HJC helmets for years; the fit was just right. And then, about four years ago, HJC drastically changed the internal shape of all their helmets. And I'm honestly still salty about that; I have three Bell helmets right now, and I've had a Shoei Qwest (but that model got discontinued this year) but I still haven't found another brand or model that works as well as the old-school HJC.

Or Cortech textile and mesh jackets. They achieved something close to perfection with a couple of specific models about five years ago, then of course radically changed and cheapened them.

The motorcycle gear business is tough, so sometimes companies making great gear tend to go out of business without warning. For example, there was a company called RoadGear that made some great gloves and other gear. I had quite a few of their pieces, and I've owned at least five pairs of their gloves. Just the perfect mix of features. And now they're gone. I scored a pair of summer gloves a few years ago on clearance when they were going out of business, and I tearfully had to say goodbye when my last pair of RoadGear gloves completely wore out this spring.

I'm in Canada and just the other day I saw coke in the full size not novelty glass bottles at the gas station. Apparently it is being produced in Canada and isn't the Mexican imported stuff (not that it was bad or anything).

A lot of people here in North Carolina seek out the Mexican version because it supposedly has cane sugar instead of fructose. Pricey, about $1.50 plus, but it sells.

Do you still have Poppe Shoppe soda in Canada? I drank that years ago in southern Ontario. It was great.

It's a major conspiracy ! Happens to me all the time. Especially at the western MI Meijer grocery stores; e.g. where they sold a fabulous big (as in what used to be typical) can of Pacific Albacore tuna fish. But sure enough, after we discovered it and started buying it every week....they 'quit' carrying it. Don't know if someone actually 'quit making it', or what.

Then, same thing with the: 'Stouffers Family Size Simply Crafted White Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese 33 oz. Box'— which was THE WORLD'S GREATEST MACARONI & CHEESE !

Yes, part of the same conspiracy that creates products we have to fight with. Parts that come loose while still new, held with screws of odd thread, etc.

If the Douglas Hacksaw looks similar to the one below, Klein produces or produced a somewhat similar hacksaw.
Some places may still have new ones, although I think they were $60 or do.
Used ones are plentiful on Ebay.
The design seems to go back to a company called Dreier Brothers, who made several or more styles of hacksaws.
I’m not sure if Klein purchased/inherited the design afterwards or whether someone else continued to make the design.
More than one company sold the saws rebranded.

These are for sure the style. Simple sturdy design. Douglas had a sturdier handle. Craftsman handles broke easily but saw held up reasonably well. Douglas was made by Radiator Specialty Company of Charlotte, NC. They also made a sheet rock saw I also had that was stolen. Metal handle with long blade. I never found any info on RSC.

Full size pick-ups with manual transmissions. My little 6speed tacoma works, but I do crave a fullsize sometimes.

Light weight cars.

Regarding the the speedqueen dryer, I bought one two years ago it works great. Everything else I've owned has been disposable junk.

Non ethanol is just as easy to find as E10 around here. The closest station to my house has four ethanol free pumps, and one ethanol pump. The price is only about 15-20 cents a gallon more.

speaking of ethenol free gas, kinda hard to get here and little out of the way but how freq are the pumps actually used, meaning is it used enough to be fresh fuel when you get it. Being 3.00 a gallon and pumps out of the way in the station , I never see anyone using them. $3.00 still seems pricey when i can fill the plane up with 100ll for 4.00 per gallon.

I use ethanol free gas in all my small engines. It does cost a little more but I'm
the kind of guy that typically follows manufacturers recommendations.

i like a stick shift too, but with the 6, 8, 10 speed trans they are more efficient than the old stick shifts and stronger too

A brand called "Burnworth" were continuity lights,a AA cell inside the case, and a incandescent bulb, with a wire lead with alligator clip, and a sharp pointed probe was great for troubleshooting.

They are definitely more efficient and shift faster, but I do question the reliability long term. For some reason I don’t picture “Joe’s Transmission shop” rebuilding one of these modern 10 speed autos.
At least with a manual transmission, you just need a new clutch, throw out bearing, and resurface the flywheel and you’re back in business.

i totally agree, simpler and easier to fix if it blows. I will say most of the heavy duty transmissions dont have much issue these days. Be it Ford/GM I drove the **** out of 3/4 ton fleet trucks and maybe 1 needed a trans ever.

I have a Mercedes-Benz G-56 in my truck, should have bought the automatic. Parts are not available, so there is no getting it fixed at a ****** shop.

My price is $2.32 for nonethanol. Busy station too. All nonethanol.

I recall doing a job in Harrisonburg, VA. NE was about 20 cents more so I filled up the work van with it for return trip. I didn’t track it but I’m sure our mileage was slightly better with it.

A lot of these newer trucks are getting more miles on them in 3 years than the ones "Joe's Transmission Shop" was rebuilding after 20 years, while doing twice the work.

Probably more than $1.50 but I noticed Chipotle carries it. Most of the popular sodas are horrible anymore though with a laundry list of ingredients and things you can't pronounce.

our local Costco carries the "Mexican" Coca Cola ... haven't bought it in while but it was $19.99 for a case (24 bottles) when i did.

There's an easy solution...find something you like, buy several of them. May not be cheap but you'll thank yourself later.

A lot of road tractors have auto shift ******'s now days.

Yes, but it's just an electric motor taking over shifting duties for the driver, still very similar to a regular manual. No torque converter = less to fail and less to turn fuel into heat vs. into motive power.

Adidas made deodorant and body wash and I love it. I've been hoarding all of it I come across for years but its become near impossible to find now. I hate trying other brands as half the time I end up with a rash.
