CB, the Tee shirt will be well received and find a place on "The Wall". Do you think you could get the Hooters girl to personally deliver it?:lol

Dan, I was talking to her about a trip up to Maine, but the two characters that I was with I think scared her:lol_hitti

LOL, Not after Friday's conversation. I think you where doing MORE than talking. LOL. That's OK those are my local girls and don't mind sharing with my FC crew.

Dan

Yeah, I saw that earlier today. Lots of ideas being tossed around in "Free Parking" with little happening. But tell us something concrete to do. Like just nominate a bank account and we'll contribute. I think you need to attract Ryan's attention, because it shouldn't just be in Free Parking. Get a bank account organised and I'm in, and I'll drag the rest of the Aussie guys with me, by the lapels if required. I like Nine's and I think a lot of us do too.....

We can't have one of our own go down with no follow up and support!

Lyndon
Looking forward to instructions.

Thanks for the heads up Dan, I thought Baton Rouge sounded familiar when I saw that on the weather channel here. Was talking to a guy in Iowa today (1:30am your time) and he said they have had lots of flooding there also.

Will keep an eye out for the details.

Okay, on a lighter note. I got a little package in the mail this morning. First off I'd like to thank Bob Heine for sending it to me. Thank you Bob. Maybe if you ever send another package to me in the future you could make it just a little easier to open, or was that one of those "child proof" containers:dunno: So after spending about 10 minutes with a new blade in my utility knife, I finally got to the prize that was inside.

Bob, that was very nice of you to include a couple of photos along with the TH400 seal tool and the license plate. What ever became of your BMW 733? The are awesome cars. I have owned 2 of them. An 84 318i which got me to buy the 84 533i that the wife drove for several years. I just can't say how great German engineering was (and probably still is) at that time.

I'll be adding the pictures to the "wall" along with the plate once I frame it. (This shop generates a little dust from time to time)

So you've taken a place on the wall next to the plate Craptain sent me.

And it just dawned on me that I hadn't undated the Aussie wall since Lyndon sent me a couple of things a while back (what a slacker I am:sad:)

So here's the trailer plate and the cooler that Lyndon sent. Oh, sorry that I had to stuff one end of Cuda's fishnets into the cooler to keep it in place:willy_nil

Thanks again you guys. Your some of the best people I've met (even if it's not in person yet)

Dan, one of my childhood jobs was with the US Postal Service and I remember how delicately we handled packages. As I recall, some of us used bags full of small packages as beds when working the late shift. I just can't bring myself to skimp on packaging when I know it's going to be part of a Gorilla fest.

I bought the 1979 BMW on a rainy day in 1987. It was attractive to me because 1) it was a European spec car so it had delicate bumpers and very little in the way of pollution stuff (no air pumps or weird tuning), 2) it had very few options (hand crank windows, manual seats) and 3) sheepskin upholstery (not slip covers, upholstery). After several Lincolns with leather seats, my wife demanded no more flesh searing seats as long as we lived in Florida.

I loved the car because it handled like a dream (with Eibach springs) and that 3.3 litre six revved like a turbine. I had never owned a BMW before so it may have been that they all had minimal power assist but my wife claimed it steered like a truck. In 1991 I noticed some bubbles on the top of the front fenders and realized the car had cancer, probably from its early years in northern Europe. I fixed the rust with fiberglass and painted the whole car. In the picture I sent, you can see the rear pan below the bumper is body color, rather than the original semi-gloss black.

In 1996 I was coming home from the airport at 1:00 am on I-95 when the head gasket blew and I was still 15 miles from home. I pulled the head and had it rebuilt and trued, put new gaskets on and had an exhaust manifold leak that I just couldn't fix. I had previously bypassed the Bosch ABS unit when I learned it was $2,500 for a new (not rebuildable) unit. One of the power door locks stopped working and someone else discovered it before I did and stole the stereo head unit (3-watt output to the trunk-mounted amplifier so I did get the last laugh). When my wife gave me the "shoeing a dead horse" lecture, I sold it for peanuts to some kid. Much as I would enjoy another BMW, I am not yet deaf and the non-stop loop of how stupid I can be just isn't worth it.

I am truly honored.:rocker:

That made me laugh out loud :lol_hitti (yes - here in my quiet corner of the office at work).

I am nearly deaf and have tinnitus (both courtesy of a Status Quo concert in 1976, and one of the after effects of heavy Chemo) but I can feel that when it happens........ It sends shivers down every man's spine I think.

Okay, I have an update. Yesterday I stopped at a lawn sale(something I don't do often) and am I glad I did. Found this little treasure.

20160827_142820.jpg

It's a Delta Rockwell DP225 and after being a little confused about the table and talking to a couple of other GJ members, it appears that it's two DP225's.
I'm not sure what the idea was to have the bottom head. Gerard suggested that it may have been used as a sander. I'll go with that until I hear different. Do any of you guys have a suggestion as to why someone would do that?

GB, it has another motor base for a second one.

20160827_134905.jpg

Oh did I mention that the guy only wanted $50 for it? He is nearing 80 and said he no longer uses it and wanted someone else to have it. He had other machinery that he said was spoken for but if they weren't picked up, he'd give me a call. A nice old table with an adjustable belt sander and a few other pieces. I hope he calls me.

Great find Dan, I can't say I've ever seen a DP with two heads before though - I can't really figure what it's purpose would be.

Coming from "Down Under" you should understand perfectly. It was made to work upside down in your country. :lol_hitti

But any way! does the table attached to the lower head rotate freely or can it be locked or..... Whatever the reason, maybe the old man you bought it from can help out. :dunno:

Dan, that's diffrent. Wonder if it was used as a rotary table of sorts?

Are you going to put it to use right away? Or plans to modify, cut post or make a bench ?:lol_hitti

LOL, I saw that. I thought instead of having a vertical plate to sand or grind on he made it horizontal. He could have a DP and multi speed grinding or sanding area all in one spot. I like his idea.

I'm guessing someone combined two so they would have a quick adjusting table, and it could be used as a rotary table to index different locations. Thinking this because the second motor mount is not mounted and there is no table mounted other than on the reversed head.:headscrat

Guys, thanks for the input. No decisions as to what I'll do with it yet. Gerard, I do like the idea of having two tools in one space. A DP and a disc sander would be quite handy. And it can be used part time for a quick adjustable table. I'm going to go back up there next weekend and hopefully find the guy and ask him why he did that. I'll let you know if I get any answers. I do like the idea of a rotary table, it could prove to be beneficial.

CB, you aren't taking a poke at Gerard are you?:dunno::lol_hitti

Grizz, I loaded it very delicately and secured it so it couldn't move. I don't want my new baby all scratched up yet. But I didn't buy it to polish and look at.:lol_hitti

Thanks guy (all of you) for stopping by and your input.

Who, me? Poke at G? I wouldn't pick on him just because he's had the DP for a whole week and it's just sitting there.:evil::evil:

Ok, I'm calling bull$hit. Looked back a few pages and see a new lift in place (like my picture) but no cars on it. At least I had a car on mine. :lol_hitti. Forget about yard sales and get working on the important things.

Shorty, this one's for you. I'll be there in February to get you up and running.:lol_hitti

Yep looks like a simple rotary table for drilling PCD holes, (holes in a circle like the lug holes on your wheels). The mount would have been for the indexing drive to bolt to.

Guys, nothing garage related here but a little update on another project I've been working on. Some of you do visit my pull up a chair thread and have already seen these photos. So forgive me for being repetitious. The bedroom I've been working on for years is finally done. This past weekend, the wife and I moved back into it.

Oops, just noticed I'm missing a couple of the outlet cover plates. I'll get them right on and be sure to clock the screws.:lol_hitti

Great job on the bedroom Dan, I'm still laying on an air mattress, looking at bare sheetrock and a half scraped ceiling so thanks for the inspiration!
