Time for a Compressor that can handle my current requirements and go above and beyond possible future requirements. Prefer made in the USA Quincy is known to be USA Made but the FS-Curtis? local distributor says yes, FS made in usa but a web search give conflicting info. I can get the FS-Curtis locally for $100.00 less than the Quincy.

Space limits me to about a 60Gal size unless some how a larger shop appears on my lot.

1st One is the Quincy 2V41C60VC

2nd Choice is the FS-Curtis CT5 05C55V6XX-A2D

Any other Recommendations? for the $1,300 Price Range!

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. With reasonable use you will probably be passing it along to someone in the next generation.

Ingersoll-Rand 2 stage 80 gallon. You can get one for around $1000. And IR has a good reputation

What do you have now and what do you need? No need to buy a whole new tank, etc. Buy a pump and motor for the add'l SCFM you need and run parallel into the existing tank. I have a 5 HP Campbell Hausfeld with 60 gal, picked up a 5HP GE three phase for $100 off CL and a new 11 SCFM pump at HF for $40 ( clearance sale) and I run it into the 60 gal tank only when I need the add'l SCFM for the blaster. I'll have about 22-23 SCFM @ 90 when I need it. Takes a little work but is well worth it. I built a rotary phase converter to run my lathe, mill, grinder so went with three phase for this but not a requirement. Used three phase motors are CHEAP and much more robust than a single phase. This 5 HP three phase weighs 85#. The heavier the motor the better it is.

If you get into Oregon then check at Coastal Farm store. They have the low end Quinceys and on Tuesdays they have a 10% senior discount and no sales tax. They were able to beat the mail order places on price.

Harbor Freight recently changed their 5HP compressor to a single stage. The high ratings are for the old compressor.

Both are the low end of the spectrum for their respective brands. The Quincy uses a 3450 RPM motor and spins the pump at 1310 RPM. I am not sure of the specs on the Curtis. This is a cheaper place:

I know the local Curtis, Champion, and Sullair distributor in my town sells a ton of Curtis 7.5 HP CT series. They say all the shops in town use them because of the price point. We also are at 6,000-6,500 feet where a 7.5HP is downrated about 20-25% due to altitude so its closer to the way a 5HP would work at sea level. They will sell you a Champion but move more of the Curtis because of price.
