Hello all. I am going to put some swivel casters on the power unit of my QuickJack 5000 and was wondering if anyone had done it already and can share some recommendations.

I measured the hole size and it is right at 1/4" (~6.36mm) and I cannot seem to find any thread stem casters that don't look like office chair casters.
Example:https://www.amazon.com/Twin-Wheel-Caster-Solutions-TWHN-50N-T03-BK/dp/B00JRYIW14/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1544381935&sr=8-10&keywords=threaded+stem+caster

I'm looking for something more along the lines of an industrial caster like this:
https://www.amazon.com/MySit-Casters-Rubber-Shopping-Trolley/dp/B07597TSHK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1544381935&sr=8-4&keywords=threaded+stem+caster

I did find one called the Mighty-Mite made by Shepard, but it seems unavailable. Most of the rest I see are really tall. I only need the unit to be a total of a couple inches off of the ground but most casters will raise it 3+ inches total. I did find one caster that seems lower but the stem size different. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Richelieu-Hardware-1-9-16-in-Light-Grey-Swivel-with-Brake-Threaded-Stem-Caster-77-2-lb-Load-Rating-815110611/301453558

Would it just be better to drill out the hole to 3/8" (M8?) and use some more readily available stem casters?

I have purchased items from castercity.com before. They might have what you are looking for....

It doesn’t weight a lot. Any threaded caster will do.
But 3/8 is more common.

I put some shepherd ball bearing on my mechanic chair it is almost too slippery to the point of maybe dangerous. It rolled like a skateboard

1. Enlarging the holes to 3/8" is probably the easiest solution.

2. You could drill additional holes and use plate casters.

3. You could bolt a piece of 3/4" plywood (or 1/4" aluminum plate) to the bottom of the unit and use plate casters. The plywood could be oversized if you want to make the unit more stable.

Harbor Freight 2" diameter casters have an 8mm (approx. 1/4") threaded stem.

Rated at 150 pounds each

I found these threaded casters on Amazon.
“Norgail 1 Inch Small Tiny Shopping Cart Wheel Trolley Swivel Caster Wheels Soft Rubber TPE M6x 15mm Mini Threaded Stem Caster Wheel, 44lb/20kg Load Capacity, Set of 4”

They worked perfect with the existing holes on the Quickjack power unit in place of the little rubber feet that came with the Quickjack. I used M6 lock nuts to secure the casters.

Could you rob the casters off of snowmobile dollies?

Edit- old thread. I'm sure it's been completed by now.
