Through wall AC unit, mount high or low?

I have 12'6" walls and I just bought a 28k BTU AC unit that will be mounted through the wall. Yes it is designed for this purpose.

Would you mount it higher or lower? It was a wireless remote so I can control it without having to reach it.

That is what my thoughts were, but I was not sure if there was something I was missing. I guess more like over thinking it.

Mount it as high as you plan on working in the space. No sense in cooling at the ceiling if you only plan to work at ground level.

I am really more interested in dehumidification, the cooling is just a neat byproduct.

I'd go higher but only so that it's still in easy reach,

That way if you loose or break the remote you can still turn ac unit on/off.

Or "drives" would say put it up high and then you have a built in workout routine going up down the ladder!

Those are good machines. You also got a VERY good price. That was the standard 28k unit for me in my last school district. They guarantee a replacement unit of the same model line will fit in the original slide-out chassis for something like 10 years.

IDK if it's an issue for you or not, but they are made in China.

Do you know if it comes with a sleeve? For the in wall application or did you purchase elsewhere/replacing an existing unit

If you don't have significant internal gains i.e. lights, people, machines and the unit is not sized properly you may not get the drying effect you seek.

I installed it last night, it is very quiet and works very well. It seems to be drying things well, I will have to test it more to be sure.

It does come with the sleeve and the coupon codes are available from time to time. Sign up for emails at www.zoro.com (they are not always the best price, but I always check) and the thread on the forum is another place to look. If you look at maintenance perspective, I suggest mounting it high (8-10ft). There will always be dust produced from your work and the higher your AC filter is, the less likely the dust will airborne as high; the result will less likely of cloging your filter in short period of time.
