Has anyone used one of these hands free tire changer clamps. It helps keep the tire down in the center part of wheel when mounting. I'm thinking of buying one and was wondering if they are any good.
Thanks

I use them all the time , but only for motorcycle tires . It is the type that No-Mar use to sell , but they have upgraded them to metal units .

Only good for a thick rim aluminum wheel. I have one and on that type rim it works good.

But, it won't work with an OE steel, or aluminum or steel racing wheel For those I have to use a pair of vise grips.

When you mount a low profile or run flat tire, it helps to hold the tire down far enough where it has enough room to stretch on. The top of the wheel has a lip that the tire uses to stay mounted onto the wheel, and if you don't push the tire down far enough you can damage the tire. These little clamps eliminate the need(most of the time) of having another person use a bar to help you.

I was wondering if someone made something like that. Last fall, I was watching a guy in a local shop mount some low profile tires on an Acura. He's a great guy but has a reputation of being somewhat of a hack. I decided to keep my distance after the first pair of visegrips went flying.

I've used it, buy the "Yellow thing" it will hold the tire from slipping. Then use your hand or knee and a little weight to push the tire down into drop center.

If you watch some of the older NoMar videos, they use small blocks of hardwood (oak) to hold the bead down into the drop center.
