Hell I paid more than that for my Classic 78, and I got it for 50% off retail (student program).

You'll love the space in that thing, and you will be able to fill those drawers with hundreds of pounds of tools.

Thanks for the tips. What exactly do you mean by broached end up?

As for the wrench organizers I'll probably go with the Snap On ones assuming they'll hold all of those wrenches big and small?

Really? Hmm, I have been looking for quite some time and I couldn't find any Classic 96 boxes for under $3K. There are some on Ebay right now and they're all going for between $3800-$5500 so I don't know where you're seeing these cheap Snap On boxes? The cheapest one I saw was $3000 a few months ago in Texas but freight would have been $500+ to San Diego.

Dude don't worry about what he says. No matter what the item is. He "knows everything about it", "Has been selling tools for 50+ years", "Has found it cheaper", "Is worth much less than what you paid", etc, etc, etc. :rolleyes: He is known for it on this forum.

Nice score YOu SsUCK! That box is bigger nicer and cheaper than my box at work.i hate you.lol. I hope you're happy, you will enjoy it.dont listen to these guys and their dumb local prices. I see you're in Cali like me and I know snap on boxes don't sell for those prices here I searched the whole state for a krl before I got my Mac and couldn't find anything good.its starting to get annoying every time some one buys a box and right away they're quick to say they over paid and a better box can be found in their area for less. Maybe in the east or mid west but not here in Cali. If I could find a clean condition krl for the prices they claim I would jump on it as fast as I could. But anyways enjoy, who cares if its craftsman you have a damn good looking set of tools for home use.:thumbup:

Opposite the way you have them, so you can see the size and type (4/6/8/12pt) instead of just the drive end.

I'll give that a shot, thanks for the tip.

As for the wrench organizers, I'm now considering the Ernst magnetic ones. I'll scout around for some pics before committing anything.

I'm going to be going the Ernst route shortly. I've been using Snap-On rails with my wrenches up to 1 1/4". The stubby Ernst racks I have are great, and have sold me on them.

Just not sure sure how I'll go about organizing the bigger wrenches using the magnetic ones in those shallow drawers...almost seems like the low profile racks might be a better option. I'd really prefer the magnetic ones though so they don't slide around in the drawers when I open and close. :dunno:

If the trays are Hansen, and it looks like they are, you're stuck with the broach direction. I wanted to flip mine up so I could see the broach end too but that's just not the way they are made. I have had to learn the size of nuts/bolts over the last year or so more than I had to know them in the past. In the past I would look at the nut/bolt and just walk over to get the size I needed without thinking about what size it really was. Hope that make sense.

If you want them the other way around HF trays will let you do that. My impacts are on HF trays, chrome on Hansen.

Lastly, nice box. Its on my to-do list.

Nice box, will serve you well and thats a great deal on it!

The way I organize my tools is I have a drawer for 1/4 tools, 3/8 tools, 1/2 tools, metric wrench drawer, screw driver drawer, power tool drawer, electronic testing and scanner drawer, etc.

Dunno if that gives you an idea but thats all the fun in getting a new box!

Not hatin'. I love my Craftsman tools as well. Every single one of them is "Made in USA" so I'm good. I don't use these daily or even weekly so for a hobbyist tinkerer...they're perfect.

Ah yeah, I just remembered why I have them sitting the way they are. They ARE Hansen trays!
