Excited about my vise score today & I don’t see my wife being riveted by the story so I had to share with people who could appreciate such a thing [emoji1787]
Couldn’t get to sleep last night so amongst many things I started scrolling mindlessly through marketplace when I came across a listing that just said “large shop vise $85” that was posted 7 minutes earlier & located 30 min away. It caught my attention so I clicked on it, no more info & just 3 fuzzy pics. Pics were just clear enough that I was pretty certain it was a Charles Parker & when I zoomed in as much as possible you couldn’t quite make out the numbers but I was pretty sure it looked like 976 or maybe even 978 [emoji15]. It was just sitting on the concrete with nothing else around to reference size to.
I figured at $85 it was worth it either way even if the condition was just ok. So I messaged the guy who confirmed I was the first to inquire since he’d just listed it. It was late, I didn’t bother to ask anything else about it & we agreed for me to come by at my lunch break today to pick it up.
Raced over there at lunch & sure as **** it’s a Parker 976 in excellent condition! It’s all there & everything moves freely. Just a little dirty & the jaws are chewed up a little bit nothing horrible. I couldn’t hand him $85 fast enough. I know there’s been better deals out there but I think this was a pretty good one with the way prices have gotten & this time it was actually me that got lucky!
So I mustered up about all the strength I had to pick it up off the ground & toss it I no the trunk of my little Buick [emoji23]
