After my wife and I started our recent home improvements, my garage was the final phase. Here are some pics of the whats gone on so far.
The garage is 24x28 with a play room upstairs and on the main floor you will notice, my 6'x8' safe room. My contractor crew worked 2 days on filling the walls with 3500#'s of concrete and rebar. The vault it's self is made up of 2 exterior walls and the 2 interior walls sit on 12" concrete footings.

Hoping to have this done within 20 days.

I can't wait to hear what the inspector has to say about the Vault.

Right now I'm waiting for another 5 days until the Truss arrive.

Very nice!
I like the vault idea.
I usually see that done in houses, for example under the 8" thick slab for the front porch.

Did you reinforce the walls for the vault room? The one time I did one for a client, we reinforced each cell, grouted it full, and then wrapped the rebar up into the cap slab. You can go through an unreinforced cmu wall with a sledgehammer pretty easily...

Each cell has one peice of 1/2" rebar and concrete filled to the top. The roof is 6" thick and I welded the rebar into a tight pattern frame.

As for the contents. All of my toys that go boom. It was less expensive to build the vault that it was to go buy another safe.

The diebold vault door,,, I got a deal on. It came from a local jewelry store that went of business.

...Vault...

Don't forget to inform your insurance for an additional fire and safety discount. I would also put a fire extinguisher near he door, inside and out....H
