Yeah, we've seen a million welding carts. Here's one more.
Goal is for a zero-dollar cart, using scrap and stuff I already have on hand. Unfortunately my scap pile isn't as big as I thought it was when I started.
Casters are from a wood box I built a few years ago. Box has been sitting in its final resting area for 2 years now, so I salvaged the casters. Frame is 1.5"x0.125 SHS. I didn't have enough of that so I made 2 crossmembers out of 1"x.100. The smaller sections running parallel to the frame are only to mount the fourth bolt of the casters.
Upright is 1x2x.125 RHS. Welder tray is 1.5x.125 SHS and 1.25x.125 SHS. I thought about adding gussets, but I can sit my 205 lbs on the edge of that tray and my welder weighs 1/2 that.
Camera angle makes it look like it's leaning forward, but it's pretty square. It's just a cart, so this is a measure-once cut-once job.
Tonight I'll add hooks for cables and tools, weld some 12ga sheet metal on the flat surfaces and use some 3/8 rod I have for various stoppers. I'll post more later.
