Sorry if this has been discussed but I'm looking for a good quality tool bag to use at work. Need something I can carry and orginize my general hand tools in. As well as carry a cordless drill and impact in. Has to be somewhat compact as in no wheels or anything like that. I don't always get to work on trucks in my bay so sometimes I have to walk around and do repairs away from my tool box. Want something I can reach into and grab a tool without digging threw a pile of tools. Thanks

My typical requirements are waterproof base, shoulder strap, Reenforced ring around top edge, quality build, no handle spanning the middle to interfere with finding tools. I do not like any type of closure or zipper that covers the opening, they get in the way and make the interior too dark.

I prefer a metal hand box. Though heavier than a tool bag are a lot more heavy-duty and will last a lot longer. When I need to carry my tools someplace I use an old Union 2-drawer hand chest, I've had it forever and never needed or wanted a tool bag.

i use a tool bag if I need 10 items or less. I barely use it since i've gotten a tool bucket. it seems like I can put an infinite amount of tools around the bucket ring. and I can toss a few cordless tools inside. i also have a nice 1 inch layer of "misc. goodies" floating around the bottom. as always, YMMV

Look at Pelican cases if you have sensitive equipment. Even if you don't they are great protection wise and customizable.

^^^this. I use a Husky and it's the best I've found. I had a dewalt bag, but it was extremely heavy. The shoulder strap broke after 6 months.

Veto or clc in that order. I have a veto tech lc, ot lc, tp3, and two mb bags and couldn't be happier. I also have a clc bag that is great and holding up well. I don't know the model number but its almost a veto lc clone mixed with a open top.

Craftsman is selling a wheel box for 50 bucks (I saw last time I was there). Probably your best bet. Bag isn't going toe ideal.

Put a simple box inside the wheel box to make it easier to reach for a set of tools. Box in a box like inception.

Use this CLC bag as my mobile kit for runs to the salvage yard, mobile repairs, and when out offroading. Super tough and easy to access and organize your tools.

Not to side track the thread here form the OP , but how do you make sure you do not
Lose tools in the open tool bad designs? That's my greatest fear is something will fall out and I won't miss it until it is gone.

At least with the bag I bought, it has a solidly built bottom so it doesn't tip, even if only loaded down on one side. The pockets are all build tight, so it will take some time for it to be easier to get tools in and out and it will take some time to organize it to where everything fits properly.

My setup is mostly drivers (screwdrivers, nut drivers, torx drivers), ratchets, socket extensions, hex keys, pliers, cutters, strippers, crimpers, a small pry bar, Fluke meter, etc. It's landed on its side in the front seat of my truck when I've just tossed it in at the end of the day, and surprisingly nothing has fallen out.

My Craftsman zip up bag holds all the sockets on rails, wrench rolls, hammer, filter pliers, a 1/4" cordless impact, and some other small loose stuff that the open bag isn't really designed for.

i use this bag when i need a bag.
it's a mac brand bag.
in my line of work bags get ruined, oil and grease soaked

otherwise i buy cheap plastic tote trays at menards, less digging around for tools at the bottom

$4 i can replace it when it cracks after 2 or 3 years.

I ended up grabbing this husky bag for now. I wanted to try this out before I spend the big bucks. So far so good. Further use will be needed before I make a final decision. I will say the shoulder ******** this bag *****.

I been using a 19" metal tool box for years. I got a gift card for NORTHERN TOOL for Christmas from my wife. I got me a tool bag there last weekend, so I will be using this bag soon.

I'm going to be starting a new electrical job soon. Think I'm going to give that CLC a try. Thanks for the link!
