My favourites, in fact the only thing that works for me, are the wooden trays I make myself.

Nothing else seems to be compact enough, durable enough, provide enough protection for the tools, and be condensation free!

This is from my smallest box, but most of my boxes have at least some of these!096C0809-4EB4-4986-AE74-733A2D83A3E2.jpg7F832B14-CD6B-4CED-922B-84DD6B8551C5.jpg

I'm with Dave...except I don't actually make a tray per se. I run a row of sockets, cut a thin piece of wood, set it next to that row, line up the next row of sockets, and so forth. I use thicker pieces of wood with holes drilled in it for items like short extensions, swivels, specialty bits, and such. Then the remainder of the drawer gets the ratchets and larger extensions.

Boards with holes then screwed to the wall for screw drivers and like items.

And, I never use peg board...I use finish nails. You can get way more tools on the wall when you can put that nail where ever you want.

Other than that, cigar boxes and the like help organize the drawers with a larger variety of tools.

I can't think of one off-the-shelf organizer that saves more space than customizing your own. This cuts the number of tool boxes near in half and saves valuable wall space (for hanging junk on)! :D

There are a few plastic tool holders that come with tools like stubby wrenches and nut drivers that get screwed right to the wall and work out great.

I'd set her loose in the garage first, then move on to other rooms

I like Hansen trays for most of my sockets. I also use homemade holders and rails for bit type sockets.

For wrenches, the Kobalt/Lowes holder work the best for my drawer height.

I used old wire shelving for my pliers racks.

For smaller and misc tools I use plastic organizers.

Nice, that t-track idea is not bad either but simplicity and cost of wire rack shelving is muy bueno!
