So i'm new to this proffesion and I want to get a decent tool cart that will last a while. I want to get something nice as opposed to a napa or harbor. So I would appreciate some feedback especially from people who own a matco msc4, jsc-750, and a cornwell tool cart. It is going to get alot of use and will be my first box.

Thank you

Since you say it will be your first toolbox, I highly recommend the Snap-on KRSC46. It is HUGE! Its more of a toobox than a cart. You get 6 large drawers, a huge top compartment, and you can store screwdrivers and prybars in the top as well. It rolls very smoothy, and its heavy duty! A lot of young techs use these as their starter box.
I have a KRSC33 in the garage, and its a good cart, lots of room, but the 46 has probably double the capacity.

Krsc46 for sure. I am a Matco guy and have an msc4 but it is just a dinky guy compared to the snappy. A krsc416 has a stainless sliding top. Otherwise it's the same box as the 46.

Yes I realize there are many threads on the tool cart topic. Though I couldn't find any with sufficient specific info on either the MSCR or the jsc750. I did find that the casters or something go bad on the msc4.

I found a jsc750 on craigslist for $1050 which is the lowest he is going to go. It is only 2 months old, gently used and still has the plastic on the stainless rim. So i guess the question now is if I should buy that because of the price being good or shell out some more for one of the snap on carts I hear everyone recommend. I'm looking for a cart that is going to last a long time.

Thank you

Is it nice and would it be worth that price? What are the drawbacks if any?
How mobile is it? Is it annoying that there aren't any smaller drawers or halve drawers like the MSC4 or other similar carts have. Why did you choose that over a snap on? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make a good choice if I'm going to spend a lot of money on it.

I may end up going with a snap on but if I could spend less and still get a really good cart than I might do that instead.

Thanks

Had my msc4 for about 4 years and I bought it used. I'm rough on it but its a great cart well built and they pop up used often. It can be a bit big if the work area and shop is tight. I work out of mine all day as a pro no issues.

don't worry about the casters. Everyone sells them. I have had 50 boxes through the years. I have baught and sold them, used them and the only caster I broke was on my Kennedy Machinist box. I had it full in my trailer when I moved from Seattle to So California. It would not take the boucing. I have at least 10 sets. They are not all that hard to find used.

If you want a tool cat buy the Harbor Freight $299 box which is always on sale for $169.99
I have several and gave my sons each one. They can't be beat for the mone. If you ware it out before you retire I would be supprised.

You can buy big expensive boxes they don't get the job done. There are many lesser brands that make great boxes for arougn $1600 and tax. I would rather have good tools than spend the money on a box.

I don't look at an expensive tools box as a status symbol. Put the money in your retriement plan and buy used tools and put the difference in your retirement plan. When you get old you will be glad you did.

Humbugon expensive boxes.

Questions are good I want you to get answers

Price I bought mine for what I thought was a good deal $1295 new with tax etc.

The drawer setup is good although having 2 half size depth drawers like the KRSC46 snap on cart might be better

I had just changed dealerships, did not have a snap on guy coming here at the time only Matco so we made a deal and I bought it if I had a snap on guy I would have bought a krsc46 no doubt

The drawers can and will randomly open when moving

The cart is not lifetime warranty like the snap on is, which a cart is used ALOT so the slide will wear out no doubt as some point.

Picts are in the cart thread but I will put them here too

I have a Blue-Point 4 drawer cart that is great. Lots of room, storage for prybars and screwdrivers, GREAT casters that swivel on all four corners.. and roll so easy. It is a great cart...that being said, I would not buy one new...It is WAY overpriced. I got mine used in trade for doing a simple job. If you can find one for a good price, it is a good choice..but I think Id take a good look at the harbour freight 5 drawer cart. It seems like a great value that is realistically priced, and many owners seem to like them a lot.

The JSC750 Is a great cart, if you can call it that, its big. Well built and huge storage for less than 2k. I've had mine for a year. I'm glad to have all deep drawers, works good for me. They do also make a JSC770 if you are aware or not. It's $200 more new, but you can custom order any drawer layout you want. If I was looking, i'd snag the used one, thats a pretty good discount.

Get the SO, much better IMO than a matco cart

I had the JSC500 cart, the day I decided to take the drawers out was the day I decided on selling it, plus there were some other small things I didnt like about it like the key itself, would go to put the key in, wont go and had to flip upside down, whereas SO is 1/4 CCW

I have not owned the snap on but like I said its lifetime warranty that is a huge selling point if you are in the market for a big new cart

I am waiting for a great price in a krsc46 one of these days and see how I like it compared to the Matco. I looked at the Mac carts and all of them seem small to me although the driver said he may have a deal on one for me in the next couple weeks so I just have to wait and see if I can add one to the collection.

Well i guess i'm going to do the JSC750 depending on the condition when I go look at it. I would rather get a snap on cart with a lid that goes all the way up and some smaller drawers but this one will do I suppose. For the price I think it is a good deal. Also a warranty would be nice but what are you going to do? From what I hear it is a good cart.
