The HF carts get quite a bit of thread time here. I think the 5 drawer is more popular with GJ'ers.

What do you work on & what's your budget? That will help a lot with suggestions...

I have 4 acres, just keep my john deere gator running, house maint, and light carpentry/welding. Nothing too special.

Hoping to find something around $100

Good cart for $100. Better that anything you will find at the other box stores for that money.

I don't own a tool cart .... not because I have any issue with them, I just don't have use for one in the way I work and have my tools organized. However, if I were to buy one there's no question in my mind that the 5-drawer HF cart is, hands down, the best value available.

It has always appeared to me the 5-drawer is a much nicer cart than the 4-drawer for not that much more money.

This thread on modifications to the 5-drawer cart is really a fun read:

The red HF cart is obviously nicer, but the black one is good too.. I have a 2 drawer husky that's almost identical to the black, just less drawers. I got it on clearance for $49, but wish I would have gotten one of the HF models instead, on account of the extra drawers. The red one is nicer too for the reason that it has built in screwdriver and pry bar storage.

Anyway, if you want the black one, (and I did this to mine), sunex makes a black folding shelf, and locking pry bar and screwdriver storage additions that you can buy and bolt on. You can get ALOT of storage out of one of those little carts..

Couple of guys at work have the black carts, they don't hold up nearly as well or long as my red ones. They start off a bit rickety and get worse with time, seem to last about a year or so, before a drawer breaks.

Both of my red ones are still fine after years of fairly constant use, well worth the extra money.

Hf also has a fold out shelf for the red carts, its $20.

If you go to this site- hfqpdb.com you can download a coupon for the red 5 drawer cart that will get you one for 159.99. the coupon is good until 11/30/16. for an extra 60.00 plus tax you will be getting a much nicer cart. I have had my 5 drawer for over 2 years and love it.

I have the 5-drawer HF myself, it's a great cart. It feels just as nice as some of the tool-truck brand ones (I used to have a Matco 4-drawer), but for nowhere near the cost. FWIW, when I was looking at them both in-store, it felt much better built than the 4-drawer that they had there, especially when I felt for flex in the drawers.

As mentioned, the red 5 drawer is definitely worth the extra money. It's a lot more solid and has quite a bit more room.

You can also add the 18in cabinet to it for even more space, but it's pretty expensive for what it is.

Actually, I think the black HF one does have the screwdriver storage built in to the top, maybe the red one is big enough for pry bars? I can't remember for sure..

Anyway, if you want black - here is another option too. more money, but it's the husky 4 drawer version that also has screwdriver storage slots, but it comes with the better pneumatic piston for the lid, instead of the flimsy metal folding hinges that come on the HF model.

In all honesty I think the HF model is the better buy, but ya never know what's important to people.. I think the husky shows for $179 on the HD site.

I have the 5 drawer and love it except for the fact that one of the drawers is rusting on the surface after only 6 months. Oh well. Still a fraction of the cost of a Snap On. I was in HF yesterday and the 5 drawer which is usually $189 will be on sale for $99 on Black Friday.

At my shop we have 2 of the black 4 drawer carts we bought for our tire department when our HF first opened. For $99 they are pretty well built however one of our oil techs and one of our mechanics have the 5 drawer red HF cart which is the clear winner. The red cart is bigger, stronger and more feature packed. If you buy the red one I also recommend reading the thread relating to modifications other GJ'ers have made to it. There are lots of great ideas in there.
