Ok so I have a smaller garage work ares so storage is at a premium. I like having the tools I use the most easy to get to and would like to see what others have done. Here is what I'm looking at for ideas

Sawzall mount- rack (I wound prefer a wall mounter something or another)

Air tool mount or rack (I don't really have the money to buy a lot of those quick connectors and I hate the thought of the ends being open to debris.)

Shop vac attachment holders.

Also on a side note I have been looking on Craigslist and at local sales for the smaller cabinets for bolt holders. I could use index card holders but I would prefer the smaller drawers and well I don't know what to search for is there a better name to call them. If it helps they very in size from like 10-20 drawers to around 40-50.

Thanks everyone

I dont want to do the pegboard I already have plywood up for the main walls. As far as searching I have spent hours looking through different ideas and have a couple but am just wondering if there are others then the basic mounts most guys run. I can appreciate the search function but I thought I would try to bring more ideas into one place for the next guy that is going through the same build issues.

nut and bolt storage, misc hardware, springs, bushings, spacers, knobs, rubber bumpers, clamps, AN & JIC fittings, fuses, relays, switches all in (salvaged) metal bins.

2 side boxes on the left hold welding hoods, gloves, and grinding shield.
rh side box has air grinders and spare impacts, large cabinet on the wall has electric grinders and consumables.
the large cabinet was salvaged, from one of our retired service vans
bottom drawer LH top box has "most used " air tools, and die grinder accesories.
large black cabinet above the storage drawers has oil/grease/coolant, ect in it. ( salvaged on trash day on the curb)
corded drills and timing light in the kra300e bottom compartment, sawsall and other "garage use" tools are stored under the bench or up on a shelf.

even the bench was a dumpster dive :rocker:

Do you have a drawer to put them in? I have mine in a tool box drawer, out of sight out to prying eyes.

Buying the cheaper CH quick connects isn't that expensive. They are decent enough quality for the average home mechanic or DIY'er. If you don't have much cash, pick a few up at a time.

A few members have mounted the female ends into the bottom of a cabinet (above their bench) allowing the tools to hang once they are connected in.

Others have made their own rack from a piece of angle, drill the appropriate size hole and cut it out fro a notch. The problem with this style is you don't like the ends open to debris.

That could work I actually have a roll up hose that stays connected (about 25' long with a low voltage contact switch on the end) but I just wanted an ides for the extra/ different ends. For the record steam cleaner hose is smooth inside and flows much better then shop-vac hose. I was thinking some form of tube that fits inside the wands and fittings but have yet to find anything that will work and hold good.

it helps to be a cheap bastid like me. :lol_hitti

most of what's in my garage has come from dumpster diving, scrounging, and repurposing. cabinets, shelving, akrobins, most of the steel for my "projects" all picked up out of the dumpster, scrap bin, or roadside finds on trash day.

i'm in a heavy "industrialized" area, so theres lots of stuff laying around that the average person wouldnt think of picking up and reusing.

i have a 26" wide snapon roller cab i pulled out of a dumpster, (minus it's casters), that had fallen out of the back of a pickup truck.
freebie for me !

I used used oil containers & a old tool box for nuts-n-bolts.
Works good for me. I can remove one ben & take it to the bench or job.
Take a guess where I got so many oil containers!

Used to store nuts and bolts cut bottle of water. They are transparent, tough enough, you can cut to any height for storage of different size and number of items. Bottles of 95 X95 mm square. in section. Perhaps you have something similar. In a transparent container that is visible, you can put on the shelf.

I used oil containers for my nut/bolt assortment for stuff I don't have a lot of I used the bandsaw to cut them all to the same height. For the bigger stuff I found these 3" x 3" x 2 3/4" on sale for what ended up being .20$ each they fit perfectly in my drawers.

I have an air tool holder I made, but I can't find it at the moment. I took a piece of "L" angle aluminum and cut slots in it so the male air fitting fits into the slots. I need to find it and get it mounted up so I can empty a couple of drawers in my toolbox.
