don is there a back store on why he wanted the wrench tat ??

just asking

Jeff
Hey Jeff! Good seeing another local here!
I used to have a shop but I decided it was too much overhead and back-biting competition, so now I have my traveling setup that I use for conventions and such, and I just do custom work by appointment. No drunken walk-ins! Much more relaxing.
The only back story is that he loves tools and wrenching on old cars. He's getting a Snap-On screwdriver on his other leg.
I agree that it's somewhat like folks with Harley tattoos, he's just working with what he loves. Funny thing is, he now has all Snap-On wrenches! But, seriously, I have a Volkswagen and a Mopar tattoo, I know plenty of friends with Other branded tattoos - Chevy, Ford, Fender guitars, Colt pistols, Pabst, etc. I did a Pez tattoo on someone last year, I've done ones of Yoo-Hoo, Schwinn, Edelbrock, the "9 Lives" Eveready cat, Apple computers, the Morton Salt girl, a Marshall amp, Hershey's, Atari, Nintendo, a Champion spark plug, a Rapala fishing lure, countless cars, bikes, food items, just a bunch of branded products. A tool brand is no different. Everyone has their passions.

I really wouldnt want anything on me. Especialy my neck and arm area and possibly my lower legs because alot of companies wont hire because of visable tatoos. That being said i might get "Made in the U.S.A. or something or just a generic looking wrench with no name or just U.S. on it. But never a companies logo, especialy craftsman with the way they are shipping everything overseas im quite displeased with them at the moment.

Thanks

I have one visible tattoo, my wife's initials on my ring finger. Everyone at work told me that I shouldn't have done that because I'll never get a job with a tattoo on my hand, regardless of the fact that my wedding ring hides it when I wear it. All I said to them is, "I work around moving machinery all day long, I'll take the negative consequences of having the tattoo over loosing my finger because a piece of equipment caught my ring and ripped my finger off."

A craftsman 1/2 wrench tatoo on your arm is retarded. I don't care what anybody says.

Thats great if you choose not to get tattoos or see some that you would'nt have done personally. That doesnt make them retarded...You just dont understand them. Could be a million reasons why they got that tattoo...Heck I have two half sleeves and leg done. I can appriciate for what it is without judging...If not, I dont have to look.

I know it's kinda sorta off-topic, but do any of you have a tool tattoo you'd like to share? Here's one I did on my buddy several years ago:

I also know someone with a Sawzall tattoo. I'll try to get a pic.
Anyone else?

com'n, at least get him a better brand. aren't people call it "crapsman" recently?

would you charge extra for Snap On?

I wonder what combination wrench they used as a model. Did Craftsman ever make a combination (or double open ended) wrench with a sharp point in the middle instead of a smooth curve? I don't know off the top of my head, though I remember seeing some Bonney and Wright wrenches that were forged that way.

I can't tell whether that's just your skin tone, or if your tattoo artist blended/dappled that same blue across the bowtie, but that came out really well done. So much nicer than just an outline, or a solid block color. Looks good.

I don't have any tattoos (tool or otherwise) myself, but I'm thinking about getting

ORGAN
DoNoR

tattooed above my heart. I hope the ER doctor can figure out that it's also a DNR order too.

Now if he had a BE put on their for date code or the underlined Craftsman name it would be interesting. At least it would date him to quality tools.

That partially links back to my initial question about the open end of that tattoo. Did Craftsman ever make an open end with a notch in it ala Bonney and Wright? Maybe it's his subtle way of pointing to a more golden era in Craftsman history.

It's suppose to be a solid grey/silver color but what you see there is my skin tone. Some freckles, excessive keratin protein and fading have helped give it that look.

I dont have any Tats but that Hazet tat is really cool. Like the Chevy one too. If I was going to get one it would be the wrench devil like the Matco tool box wrap from awhile back.

I wonder why this guy went with a 1/2" wrench. If I were having it done, I'd pick a big *** wrench.
I'd pick the size I use the most in the stuff I work on, not the biggest or smallest... If I had to guess, 9/16 for me.

I`m guilty of that too, should`ve put some wrenches in it when I drew it up..there`s always the next one.

I think a skull and cross wrenches would be kind of cool, but just a pair of knipex pliars on my neck? uh, pass :wtf:

something like this? it says sink or swim in reverse (so it can be seen in the mirror)

I can't find the original pic, and I won't upload from imageshack... had complaints of some virus from my image shack acct.... anywho, you get the idea

Under a car...swearing
I get the Craftsman RP tattoo...its pretty much the wrench that built America. I dont think i have ever seen a box that didn't contain at least one. It is without a doubt the most recognizable wrench in America. Great job on it btw...1/2 too...great throwback to better times.
