Toolbox Base Question

So here is NoNN37's toolbox. The weight of the box sits on the frame. I am buying a 722 this week and was thinking about building a frame for the box.

Now this box will not be stationary. It will be rolling from hangar to hangar. While the hangar floor is smooth, the ramp is asphalt and a little bumpy. Is this worth doing to have less stress on the frame? Will the 722 casters hold up to this kind of movement?

The 722 has a very strong frame and great casters. You don't need to build a frame.

I used to work in that same environment years ago. Eventually, the casters WILL wear out on any toolbox. Especially if you're rolling a heavily loaded box across long distances on a rough ramp, day after day.

Just about everybody ends up building a frame and using industrial casters, usually repurposed from damaged aircraft maintenance stands.

Also keep a watch out for cracks around cabinet corners, usually starting at drawer edges and running out at a 45 degree angle towards the edges of the cabinet.

I've seen it happen on Mac, Matco and Snap On boxes, although the Craftsman and other cheaper boxes usually give it up a lot quicker.

If you buy the box new, the casters have a lifetime warranty.
