My favorite tool too, Lux profi plus - probably rebranded Fortum?

@Monte: You made me sad, my wrench is Chinese... :willy_nil

I have one thing to say - In my younger years i simply went to shop and bought a tool. But for few last years, when I want/need to buy some tool, for example pliers, I have to go to shop, let the salesman show me at least 10 pieces of the same tool and choose the one piece of all that is made precisely, and this also applies for Knipex, Wera, Wiha etc. I know the functionality of pliers is untouched when pliers jaws do not fit exactly, but i hate to buy some **** even branded with well known England or German company. And recently this is true mostly for them. I think I saw some info about Lux pliers made by NWS. I bought them, but finish was horrible and the wire cutter was so blunt that I returned them back. Maybe Lux sells some second-quality tools here in Czech republic or what...

Ha, never seen that! Might have to look for one. Wonder if they make it in Hazet Blau? :)

I bought it in Bauhaus discount for about 10 euro, they had only grey+red variant. Nice shaped, good plastic, but there is one thing wrong with this box - it has strange and too weak hinges on the two opening parts of the upper case, and when loaded, after opening they fall off :dunno:

There are 3 different lines of Lux pliers:
-"Lux Basic" (blue handles - imported)
-"Lux Profi" (red/black handles - made by NWS and Will)
-"Lux Profi Plus" (dark/light grey/blue handles - made by NWS)

The "Basic" and some "Profi" pliers don´t look that good, thats right....cheaper to make... there are different versions though....made by Will and NWS...Will look worse than NWS... The NWS pliers they offer here have a ground finish with black paint. They don´t look that bad. click (Will on the left, NWS on the right) and clack . I´ll take some more pics next week.

Not garage tools but spades and shovels made in England, which is quite a rare thing these days.
Here's a short video about how they forge them to shape.

Thank you for info! I didnt know that. Those awful pliers was NWS, on the right side of the first click picture (Profi, ISO 5746). Before buy, when choosing the best one :) I didnt notice that blunt wire cutter. After returning i took a look on the other pieces and every of them had some small defect for me - poorly fitted jaws, a bit loose jaws, toooo tight jaws, falsely sanded jaws etc ... Compared to my West G. Stanley pliers, the quality is far far down, and for example compared to cheap Zbirovia I bought for 5 Euro, too. I didnt know any NWS brand before I read superlatives about it here and that is why I was disappointed with them after buy and closer look. On the other side, I use open-ended wrenches from Lux and I am very satisfied with them, and so with their files, saws and other stuff.

@dykmore:
It seems you don´t have too much luck with NWS pliers. Most people here seem to be happy with theirs. Maybe they brand all their bad pliers with "Lux" :)

Last week, I received from an eBay seller a "Kimba" brand cable cutter plier. Here are some pictures of the plier:

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_1.jpg

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_4.jpg

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_2.jpg

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_3.jpg

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_5.jpg

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_7.jpg

Kimba_Cable_Cutter_6.jpg

The cable cutter plier easily cut through 18 awg, RG-6 coax cable. The eBay seller stocks other Kimba plier types here: http://stores.ebay.com/4discountshop/_i.html?_nkw=Japan&_sid=1010707026.

Does anyone know anything about the "Fong Song Co., LTD" and its "Kimba" brand?

What is their reputation and durability among the various Japanese plier manufacturers?

Thanks,

Dave

When your talking about masonry hand drill bits,do they mean they are for a regular hand held electric drill?Surly they don't mean for a hand brace. The reason I ask is while looking at other stores most masonry bits are for hammer drills.Do they make masonry drill bits that are not for regular drills.Your probably wondering why the heck I bought the masonry bits if I don't even know what drill they are for.Hmmmm, not sure but now that I have them I need to know how to use them

ScarryLarry,

My favourite store to visit is Lee Valley, and I never dare to miss the clearance section  A few times an year they may clearance out their old stock or purchase remaining stock from 3rd parties and sell them at the clearance table.

They've had those MOB items at their table since the start of the year. There was a lot more in selection, but the good stuff went really quickly. I should've picked up a select number of wooden handles...oh well.

I've suspected as well that those carpenter's chisels are indeed made by MOB.

I just took a few quick pictures of the things I've purchased in the past, with the exception of the hammer, which I purchased in France.

The Virax Chisel is made by MOB.
Also a couple pictures of a single Muller Outils brand nail set and a centre punch as well (Made in France).

There are masonry drill bits which can be used in "normal" drills and/or percussion/impact (not rotary hammer) drills (round shank drill bits)

For example Bosch "Multi Construction" bits:

I'm close to the Coquitlam store and had not been in for over a year. There were MOB masonry heads such as small hammers and picks but without handles.I think I'll go and check them out again.I was in a hurry that day and as you know it's good to have time on your side when you go into Lee Valley.
Thanks for posting pics of your tools!
