I guess the 200 series is the successor of the acetate handle drivers. I personally would buy the 500 or 550 series. More difficult to clean though but feel better in my hands.

I don´t know - i don´t have any long time experience with NWS and I´m only a hobby user. So i don´t know how long the cutting edges and teeth etc. will hold up. But you see NWS quite often rebranded (Lux, E-Top, Felo, Walther, Padre, Matador, Berner, Projahn, Klauke, Phoenix Contact etc.) so they can´t be that bad. I personally probably would buy what is easier to get and to warranty.

I once performed a cutting test and the subjective result was that the NWS pliers made the 1st place. The cutting edges are very sharp and there is virtually no recoil because of the thick handles.

But your results may vary since i only have 1 pair of each pliers so i cannot say if they all perform the same.

I've bought a pair of Knipex off eBay, will see how i like them but i may also get an NWS pair from quattrojon some time. I have a large set of NWS combination pliers he sent me and they're extremely nice, love 'em and wouldn't trade them for anything else.

the short size is useful for me for lots of things. One of which is fitting brake caliper anti-rattle clips, i like to use the best-fitting tools for my hands where possible. Small hands, so small pliers are good for me.

Would you say that Knipex and NWS are same in quality?

I'd say NWS are as good if not slightly better, in my limited experience with them. Their side and end cutters are amazingly sharp and very well made. I really like NWS pliers.

The Stahlwille definitely has that solid, quality feeling to it!

I don´t know, the 3-K handled drivers doesn´t appear in the german Wiha catalog at all, so it seems they use this handle here only for rebadged products. The "Wisent" scredrivers come in slotted (red), PZ (blue), PH (yellow), Torx (green) VDE/Insulated (red/yellow), and stainless steel (grey)
The Wiha drivers in the US are all blue/black i think.

I dont know if its just me Monte, but I cant see your latest pics.

A heads up for the UK guys, B&Q (at least my local, Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff) are selling NWS VDE stuff at about half price. Just picked these up for around £10 each. Annoyingly, the waterpump pliers I got a week or so back are now down to £18! I was trying to justify a second set but couldnt think of a reason!

They are a bit dusty, so I guess these are a slow moving line, hence the price. The USA Channellock stuff also had reductions, about 1/3 I think. There were some 18" (I think) waterpump pliers that I might pick up, under £20 I think.

Personally, not being a wera fan, I prefer the OBI store.

Monte, you spoke of chanellock before, i was wondering what other U.S. tools are sold there, for instance, klein, crescent, channellock, hell what about craftsmen.

I purchased my first knipex recently and can not be any more happy with them, the only other german tools i have are stabilia, festool and fein ,i have one lone 3/8 drive 10 mm allen hazzet. I like the way they are installed in the drive compared to my mac set, they has slop and held in by a pin.

Monte: Carhartt's USA made brand with the double knee are durable, but for the summer, those Blakader's are a lot easier to wear in the heat. And so far, worth what I paid. I picked up catalogs from Fristad and one of the other places, Rofa, I think, and am checking them out. I wear through work clothes quick, so if I can buy good stuff, and buy a whole week's worth in one go, I'm good.

I started a thread a couple of weeks ago, asking what the US guys bought as workwear.

Must've missed it. I made up a bunch of Dickie's shirts for all the guys in my shop to wear a few years ago. Time for some new ones. Was looking for something USA made, but it's hard to find a quality workshirt still made here.

Yep monte has pics on page 128. OBI is the store with all the Lux branded tools.

I actually stopped at both a Bauhaus and OBI a few weeks ago while I was on vacation in Vienna. The OBI also carried witte which I really liked.

Ordered the NWS ones today. My Knipex arrived yesterday, not impressed with them. They're not even half as nice as my NWS combination pliers. They have nice grips, but the jaws and finish isn't nearly as good as that of NWS. Quite disappointed, really.

I like their Cobras, circlip pliers and pliers wrenches, a few other too, but NWS for everything else. NWS blows Knipex out the water for overall quality.

Their side cutters are the best. Bar none.
