They came off eBay here, one seller has a few of these sets. They don't get bids and the seller has a lot of auctions, i got these for the starting price:

thx for the link !

I really like Elora, Stahlwille and Hazet. They're the main German brands i look at buying tools from. :)

Esgen is another German brand i want more from, they make excellent tools. :)

 good choice ! :D

Do you mean you can buy direct from them in Germany if you're from anywhere? I made an account when you sent me a link to them before but they just referred me to their office in London, telling me to contact them for a catalogue. Not helpful, i wanted to browse and buy online. :(

thx for the link !

No problem. May have to get a set for myself. ;)

 good choice ! :D

The more German tools i buy the more i want! recently i've bought mostly German tools, with a few various others mixed in. I really like socket drivers and special sockets, so have been hunting them down. Love the quality and finish. :)

 <--- Does not adequately describe what I'm thinking.

Could not help myself. I pulled the trigger on "Stronger than any bolt". I do not need them at all. I pretty much work exclusively with metric and also have complete Proto (deep ring), Sidchrome (combination) and Gedore (double open) sets. But there is something so "primal" about such a statement on a wrench that I could not resist :) Somewhat like my "King ****" flare nut wrench purchases.

I don't blame you. I'll be getting myself and set and i never work on anything but metric.

I`m not exactly sure, just saw their advertisement in their latest promo flyer.

on page 43 you can see a small screen shot:
http://www.hoffmann-group.com/filea...werbungen/pdf/Jahresabschlusswerbung_2010.pdf

In the printed version you can see that you can select the language of the shop, which only makes sense if you plan to sell the tools also outside of germany.... we will see....october 15.... :)

Today my replacement Elora 121 10mm x 12mm flare nut wrench arrived:
I used to have one, and then someone decided they had more right to it than me.

Thanks Monte. I need to start making a monthly budget. I am well and truly out of space in my workshop and I keep buying. This thread is doing me no end of damage :)

I had a look at the Hoffmann Group e-shop today. I noticed they have a lot of items but no pricing (at least the items I viewed). I guess this will come in the coming days/weeks. Ebay pricing sometimes puts me off. I get Garant brand for Stahlwille/PB Swiss prices.. :(

Are Stahlwille or Hazet making Holex wrenches/sockets?

I recently purchased a regular 38mm Stahlwille 6pt socket and 3/4 adapter. Put it straight onto the Makita 440ft/lb impact driver and got a 35 year old seized flywheel nut (missing a corner from a historical attempt) off in 2minutes. I had no doubt a regular Stahlwille socket would be up to the impact task.. Wrong use, right result! Vote 1, Stahlwille! :) That said, I could not do it with my Nepros. Just too beautiful and no 38mm socket unless its KTC..

I have a tool kit in a leather case that contains Belzer tools. I would guess it to be over 50 years old. The zippered leather case is 12 inches by 12 inches ans over 2 inches thick. It contains 21 tools plus a file set and has leather covers on the inside to protect the tools.

I also have a Rumpp tool kit that is about the size of a hand that contains tools stamped "ALKER". I assume it is over 50 years old also.

Any help is appreciated.

Garant/PB/Stahlwille prices are better in the Hoffmann sales flyer:

http://www.hoffmann-group.com/filea...werbungen/pdf/Jahresabschlusswerbung_2010.pdf
(+ 19% tax)
At the end of the catalog there are some hand tools for acceptable prices.
About 20% cheaper than regular.

The Holex socketry is imported i think, Holex wrenches seem to be made by "Carl Walter" since they advertise the 12 point Holex box wrenches with "Energy Profil" this is the same Carl Walter named their 12 point box end (click)

aaahhhhhhhhh abuse alarm !!!!!!!!!! :D
I would be more concerned about the adaptor than the socket. But 3/4" is pretty big stuff so nothing should happen (i think :) ) A 36mm 3/4" dr. socket minimum guaranteed torque is 1084 newtonmeter (38mm i don´t know)

please post a link, I want hazet & stahlwille

www.ebay.co.uk
but don´t buy everything , leave a bit for the other Garage Journal members ! :D ;)

I've got some old Stilsons that used to belong to my late Father that are proving to be a bit of a mystery. I've posted this same question on Papawswrench Tool Talk, but we didn't come up with much other than the suggestion that they may have a link to WW2 and the Nazi's plans for the new Europe - NEUROPA :shocking:

Here's what I've got:
1 x stilson, markings as follows: MADE IN WESTERN GERMAN
(the Y on the end has been drilled out), DROP FORGED STEEL, 10, NEUROPA, (traces of red paint still on the handle)
1 x stilson, markings as follows: DROP FORGED STEEL, 10, NEUROPA
1 x stilson, markings as follows: DROP FORGED STEEL, 12, MADE IN GERMANY.

The above 3 stilsons all appear to be made by the same company, but have different markings, and I can't find ANYTHING about them on the Internet.
Anybody out there know anything about them?
Does anybody have any of these in their toolbox/collection?

All feedback is welcome

here's a copy of a post I put on another thread, maybe someone reading here can help?

@rocketv:
The german trademark office showed a result !
The trademark was declared 5/11/1953 by a "Ulrich Ibach" from the city of Remscheid. (Adress: Ulrich Ibach, Küppelsteiner Str. 47, 42857 Remscheid). The trademark was deleted 12/5/2004. The trademark was applied for pipe wrenches, pipe pliers and wrenches. The company seems to still exist (?). A google search shows a "Ibach Ulrich Werkzeug (tools) Gmbh" but in the city of Wuppertal which is next to Remscheid. Interestingly the trade mark "Neuropa" was also declared on 7/13/2004 for NWS-Tools for all kinds of pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers etc.
You can also look up the trade mark(s) here: (and other german brands) http://register.dpma.de/DPMAregister/marke/schnellsuche
(Click on "english" on top of the page)

The search on german tool forums returned zero results.

This "Neuropa" wrench is on ebay.de:

does someone have one of these Wiha ratchets ??? (Looks like Koken)

Thanks Monte, that's some great info you've given me there.

Is there much of a "collectors" scene in Germany for german historical/old tools?

Seems strange that there were no results on a german tool forum for a german tool when I have some here in Australia many 1000's miles/KMs away!
:headscrat:headscrat

So your answer then leads to some more questions...

Where are all these tools now?
How many were made?
Were they only made for export?
How the hell did they get all the way over here?!
Does anyone else have one?
Does anyone collect them?
What (if anything) are they worth?

Anyone with answers to any or all of these questions is invited to speak up, all help appreciated and welcome :)

Well, here in Europe most mechanics ********* is a full collection of Snap-On.. (metric).
Snap-On is really costing a fortune over here (about twice the price of comparable tools of Hazet, Stahlwille etc.).
So there will be collectors but probably not so many.

I'm really happy with my Stahlwille (most used hand tools), Beta (sockets and specials), Bahco (screw drivers and adjustable hand tools) and Knipex (pliers) mix. Each of these companies has his own type of tools in which, I think, they offer very good value for money and outstanding quality.

I do not like Hazet that much because for me the tools are a bit chunky and sometimes rather thick/heavy.

(picture will follow as soon as my folding workbench is ready, in about two weeks).

There is not much happening in the german forums. Most threads are about home renovation, electric tools, welding, "household tools" (washing machine etc.), chain saws, garden tools etc. There are only very few threads about hand tools. It seems there is not really a hand tool fetish over here. Maybe there are some collectors, maybe they´ve not yet discovered the internet :)

So your answer then leads to some more questions...

lol i have no clue !
Where are all these tools now? in households all over the world :) How many were made? Not enough because i don´t have one :D Were they only made for export? There is one on ebay.de .....so... :) How the hell did they get all the way over here?! Export :) Germany always exported a lot. But maybe because you also can find germans all over the world :) They exported themselves also a lot :D Does anyone else have one? The dude from ebay :D
Does anyone collect them? Someone from Australia :) ;) What (if anything) are they worth? Wait until the ebay.de auction ends ! :D
Sorry i have my funny day today :) ;)

Hang on, are those Wiha ratchets real? What's the part number?

Yes they´re real (i think :D) scroll to the middle:

http://www.wiha.com/england/Onlines...product-line-For-hand-used-nut-driver-sockets

Part numbers: "24630 S" and "24631_S"

@Timmerz:

Hrmm, does look like Ko-ken, especially with the phillips screws. ...but I'm guessing it's a special bulk order from Taiwan. :D

And the new 2010 Wera advent calendar filled with 24 tools :)

What in the heck are those Weras with the drive end called? I've never run into that from a US vendor.

What would be really cool would be something like that with a 3/8" square end on the blade and a matching one in the handle ala VIM or the Mac (VIM?) extensions.

:D ;) could be... i mailed them today, no answer so far....will call them on monday... But I believe they´re from KoKen. Should be not difficult to buy them, add a Wiha handle and charge 2x the Koken price.
Wiha also offers this product, i think you know who the OEM is (or most likely will be)...: :)

Looks like the hoffman-tools.com site is only in German and only ships to Germany... pity, although probably wouldn't be economical to ship anyways, but it's neat stuff they have.

Thanks! Will definitely be getting a set of these soon. Because i need more screwdrivers.. I only have about 250. :D

They look really useful and i often need long screwdriver bits (more torque) so these are perfect. And i want the "bumblebee" handles! :D
