I just got the 1/4 fine tooth Hazet Ratchet(but with the blue and black handle) like yours from Chads. It took about a week and a half but I may have just got lucky. It came directly from the Importer Chads use. I thought I bookmarked them but don’t see it.

4 months would have made me insane. I read somewhere that the items with photos on Chads are items they stock but I found out that is not the case with Hazet. I asked them about the ratchet after they emailed it was coming from the importer and they mentioned they don’t sell much Hazet tools and stopped stocking items.

Knipex, Hazet, NWS, Gedore and any other brand I fail to mention. Who makes the best pliers? I want to buy one brand that will last me. Thanks.

I don´t know - difficult to say. "The best" means also the longest lasting ones and not only design + finish - A manufacturer could tell you with their testing equipment...

A large amount of companies use pliers from NWS for their lineup (Klauke, Lux, Matador, Walter, Phönix Contact, Felo, Berner, Intercable etc.) so maybe i would try NWS.

At age 58, I've been collecting "stuff" for a lot longer than many of you. Some of the old audio equipment (Crown, McIntosh, B&O) goes back to the mid-70's. There's another 10x30' storage unit down in Charlotte NC loaded with some of the overflow...including 60 Facom/Ferrari collector sets.

I've been selling Facom since 1996. The Facom/Ferrari sets were from 2003-2004, back before Stanley bought the company (in 2005). There was no Facom being made in Taiwan back then. SD

The Facom feels just right, it is also more comfortable and the adjusting mechanism is a little easier to use. As far as quality is concerned they are dead even.

This is an update of some of the new tools I got during the last 2 months or so. The first batch is some old tools that I got from both of my grandfathers.

The sockets are my first standard sockets as they were only used in years past in this country. All my others are metric. The brands are Durolast, Gedore & Stahlwille.

The ratchet, extensions and breaker bar are all also Gedore.

The shifting spanner and waterpump plier are Will SA and the action is VERY smooth!

The pipe wrench and big Bacho shifting spanner were also a great find in my mind!

The three wrenches are also my first standard wrenches. They are Hexo, Hazet and Gedore.

The saw is a Steigo and is marked W. Germany. Maybe Monte can shed some light....

Now for all the new stuff:

The ratchet is a Stahlwille 415 1/4" dr. I like it a lot and it get used a bit.

The nutdrivers is a Wera set and they are nice because the hollow shafts go up into the handle.

The Wiha PicoFinish precision screwdrivers I got for Christmas!

The pin punches and chisels are Rennsteig. They were actually cheapish compared to some of the other brands (Gedore and NWS) that rebrand them.

Last is my Beta engineers hammer. First I did not know what weight to get, but the 500g seems to be ideal for my needs.

But I'll still buy a Jet.XL toolbox, I saw one again at my local tool shop yesterday, I've just been a bit disapointed by the drawer's plastic handles, they're a bit "cheap". The other things were nice, little play in the slides when drawers are fully opened, easy to open and move when full of tools, I liked .
My brother will buy one for his employees next month, so I'll inspect in details at this time, it's nice he asked me to help him to choose which tools he should put inside

My last bad news of 2010 was that Facom's toolbox custom color program is only available when you buy 6 of the same color
I wanted a yellow one, my vendor told me to repaint it but I've not watched if they can be dissambled easily...
The good news is that he now sell some PB swiss tools!

In the Ferrari set, is the finish of the tools higher than standard Facom? They used silver rings for the extension realease and ratchet control, did they put as much care in each tool of the set?

I'm not so sure about the control ring's colour of the ratchet anymore, it might just be the light, but the release ring of the extension is grey.
So I thought that they may have composed this set with tools of their regular line but with carefully selected items.
For example the ones made just after a change of die/punch, longer polishing processes, tighter QC,... Just to make it exceptional
1000€ for these tools is quite high just for a ferrari logo and grey coated release ring...

Thanks for the links. I have seen those also in the GJ classifieds. I saw a few months ago on the UltimateGarage sales section a big set of Ergotwist's, 46 or 49 pcs., can't remember right. I want a complete set like that, don't want to chase all the internet for a few pcs. to have a complete set. Maybe Steve from Ultimate Garage will make again a great extra offer for the GJ users If i won't find a complete set from the old ones i think i will go to my dealer and buy a complete set from the new ones, the Protwist series, they are still made in France, i don't know for how long.

I've always thought you've had the best taste in high end stuff. I remember your posts way back on German fasteners in the mid-90's. It's good to see people seeking out the best quality kit.

Most of the items here are not on my website. A local customer is buying all of the Lista cabinets, the AC Hydraulic press and some of the Middle Atlantic items. About 4000 lbs less for me to move in April. My 2011 resolution is to continue to downsize and perhaps pick up a few new product lines for the business. Steve D

) filled with these . I still sometimes look in the promo flyers with all the modul inserts ...

I've always looked at their combo toolbox+tools in the promos too and thought "if you're 15 and you work 1 month as a student during summer you can buy a jet.8XL and 4 drawers full of tools, so there's no reason to wait to be retired to buy Facom"

Looks very handy! but I don't know if that feature is as useful on a 1/4" than a 3/8" ratchet? I'll wait a bit...

Monte is right, the Facom boutique can send it to the US and tthey have a few in stock but it would be 40€ + 30€ shipping, you will probably be over 100$ after the customs fees

I like their boxes with 5-6 drawers, which can be put on a bench top like the ones used in the Nepros's master tool kits.
Nepros's importer in the Netherlands sells them but their prices are very high...
Another thing, are Peddinghaus punches of good qualty? as good as PB swiss?

ok 8 drawer would be better i only need shallow drawers basically. The big drawer might be good for cordless tools etc, or hammers etc. But more shallow drawers would be better so all foam/plastic trays would fit in there
