This is a loaded question . The "best" would depend on the use and user. I think Gedore makes one of the finest ratchets anywhere, but there many other excellent choices. The Hazet fine tooth ratchets are my personal favorites, Stahlwille makes excellent ratchets and so does Elora (maybe a bit crude, but very strong).

As it was mentioned before, Gedore has factories in Germany, Austria, India, Brazil, and Turkey. Those made in India, Brazil, and Turkey are for their domestic markets. Most of their tools clearly say "Made in Germany" there are some tools that are not German made and will not have a COO.

You don't switch.
When you "twist" the handle the square drive turns, always in the way selected with the ring, not matter in which way you twist the handle.
When you use it as a normal ratchet, the handle can't turn as soon as some torque is applied on the square drive, the "twist" system is automaticaly blocked if you want.
The twist feature has been cleverly implemented in the ratchet, even for something made in Taiwan, you don't feel that Facom makes you pay big money for it, future will tell us if it's strong and reliable...

How durable are the tips on the Sunflag screwdrivers compared to the ones on the Vessel Megadora 930 screwdrivers?

I own a newer Sunflag #3 Phillips screwdriver but the handle is orange. I have yet to use it.

Sorry to answer to your question, but I own the same Facom "twist" ratchet since a year, I'm very satisfied.
From the first sight it could be considered as a gadget, I think it's not, especially when you work in the engine bay and have little space. The really nice thing is that whatever the way you turn the handle (clockwise or counterclockwise), the square drive in the head turn always in the way set with the control ring, it goes really fast. Of course you can't produce a lot of torque using this feature, but you have the normal ratchet for that.
When you use it as a normal ratchet, the hande is automatically locked so no risk to slip when tightening a bolt.
The only disadvantage I see is the big head compared to regular ratchet and it's only availabe with socket locking system, most of the time I prefer ratchets without this feature...

Really, for the price, it's worth it, even when you consider it's a taiwanese product...

I own a similar "twist" ratchet but made by Stanley. I purchased it several years ago from Wal-Mart for $22 USD (still available for purchase at local Wal-Mart stores). Stanley also makes a version of the "twist" ratchet for their Blackhawk brand but it is priced in the $30 to $40 range. Here is a link to the Stanley version (also made in Taiwan):

I agree with you that the twist ratchet is a handy tool. I have used it many times to remove the oil filter on a 1997 Chevy Cavalier. The oil filter was located in such a tight space. I used the Stanley ratchet with an appropriately sized oil filter cap socket. The head of the ratchet is indeed big. Fortunately, it was a none factor in my situation. I have been happy with this ratchet's durability and functionality.

I completely agree with Cantause's description of the Facom twist ratchet. I thought it was a little gimmicky at first, but it really is quite useful. It is quite bulky for a 3/8" and may not fit in really tight spots. It is made in Taiwan, unlike most Facom ratchets which are Italian made, but well put together.

Yes, German COO says "Germany". Rigth now i'm loking on two Gedore slogging wrenches with different origins. One says "Germany", but another one (from Brazil) says "Vanadium" Who knows, maybe this is little town in Brazil, named Vanadium.

IMHO, though non German Gedore still very good quality, it is not the same with German Gedore. Details makes difference.

But, when you see price, you can forgot 'bout details. It is very important for that domestic markets - very good quality for not very big prices.

Not knowing your work environment I'd say Gedore. Easier to switch direction, slimmer and I presume lighter.

I fail to see the advantage of a push-through ratchet that also doubles as a hammer. (or vice versa). Maybe strength?

Well, here is my set up so far. It has taken me a few months to switch to a Facom set up (mostly) and still have a few modules on back order.

Drawer #1 - Torque wrenches and "travel sets"

Drawer #2 - screwdrivers (waiting for an order ) and long torx module

Drawer #3 - 3/8", 1/2" set

Drawer #4 - 1/4", 440 wrenches, and a few Nepros

Drawer #5 - Offset and Angle wrenches

Drawer #6 - punch set and hack saw (waiting on two modules)

Drawer #7 and #8 - pliers and misc(Facom/knipex)

Drawer #9 - Facom and Nepros - Deep sockets

Drawers #10 and #11 - Facom - Open ended and Crowfoot -Metric/Standard

Yes, the red dot is for the quick release. Only the 3/8" has the slimmer handle, but the 1/2" is exactly the same as the non-quick release.

I've always wanted to pick up one of Facom's graphite handled hammers, but haven't gotten around to it yet

The main difference is in design. I prefer the new Protwist because of the shape of the handle (you can ""rest" your thumb on the handle) and the color codes really help identify them. As far as material or quality they are very similar. The Protwist are still made in France, in case you wanted to know.

He was looking for a good quality set, but did not want to spend too much money (this ruled out Hazet ). Instead of Craftsman, I convinced him to try Facom. Anyway, it is very nice. I also got more Hazet stuff that I will be posting tonight.

That is a very nice set. I have the Nano version. Same parts but with a much shorter driver shank. Just used it to take apart and put together an old AEG grinder. It works.

2) Very heavy duty tips...it have a same quality of a tips but Vessel megadora 930 have a confortable handle
3) This philips screwdriver also PH 3...very useful the flat type have a strong tips and some time i use like a chisel

OEM of Primat ? Depends on the tool: screwdrivers Witte, clamps seems to be from "Turnus", pliers from Orbis - wrenches: ?? sockets ? i don´t know, the catalog shows different pics, some Primat sockets are mat chrome, some are glossy chrome and looks like Heyco. Depends on the tool. Do you have pics of Primat tools ? The wrenches say "Germany" it seems, dont know about the sockets (only know the small pics from the catalog). Hex keys from "Hafu", locking pliers from "Bollmann", Hammers maybe from "Osca", punches + chisels i guess from Rennsteig

I think only the german + austrian tools have "Germany" or "Austria" on the tool ? (sometimes not though). I never saw "South Africa" etc. on a tool. The package dont say anything too. At least here in Germany.

different tools......if you only want to buy 1 ratchet ---> Gedore (very smooth ratcheting action, push button socket release, normal direction lever switch) The Wera ratchet is kind of a special tool for certain trades - so it depends what your profession is.

As Servito said it's 230V here, I paid 520€ for the saw with its blade, box, 2 guide rails, junction piece and clean cut system. Not cheap but it seems to be difficult to buy cheap Festool, the best buy seems to prefer a combo instead of buying options later, so I took the most complete combo available...

First I thought about Bosch (as usual ) but when I looked a bit, as for hand tools, there were specialized brands with better reputation in woodworking. After browsing a bit, one brand was always considered as the best in this field, Festool... I think it's the first time I only see good comment about a brand, maybe it's because they stay in their specialized field and don't try to make something else...
I didn't look for competitors actually, but I don't like Dewalt that much, my brother is almost only equiped with them, robust for sure but usually heavy and not really precise, and precision was what I was looking for...
Makita may have been an option but I like to support the weak german economy

The 44's I were purchased on Ebay as part of large lot someone was selling. I have no idea how old they are, but they were all new and still in their plastic bag.

We just finished a remodeling of the entire hand tool section of our store, and got loads of new tools, mainly Proxxon Industrial, Bahco, and the insanely high quality Hultafors tools.

To begin, id like to show you guys some of the Proxxon tools.

These combination spanners with ratchet are imo the absolute best combination spanners on the market. Proxxon Industrial while not so known makes absolute tip top quality that lasts, 100 meters from our store is the biggest shipbuilding/smith/repair company in the country, and those guys are mildly said abusers of tools, they dont show love for their tools, simply because they dont have time too, they work hard and fast, and the tools just need to work.

The guy in charge of buying tools there said they had tried everything, Bahco, Stahwille, Stanley, Kennedy, Craftsman etc. Nothing lived up to their demands and long term use, nothing except Proxxon Industrial, only tools that could stand the abuse for long periods.

Absolute top notch, Proxxon also makes a splendid Bitset which has a screendriver and almost any bit you could need. This along with the combination spanner set comes in a metal box, it just oozes of quality.

This one is being sold for - 50% because it along with 5 others where shipping beneth under 1 ton of stainless steel bolts/screws so the metal box got squashed by the weight and if you look you can see the bits have made some marks into the soft material holding the extenders.
