Great pictures. I like this bit set. How much do you charge for a set like that?

Hey North, because I live in the Faroe Islands we charge more for it than you would in Norway and the rest of Europe, because of the shipping cost to get it here.

But it is on ebay.de for about 270 Norwegian kr. and add in some shipping cost and customs, I donno I would make a guess that somewhere between 300 to 425 kr. Norwegian kroner when you have it in your hands.

Well worth it imo, the bits and the adapters have 25 year warranty aswell.

You will find it easily if you just type:

Proxxon 23107

Probably more like 650-800 NOK. Shipping tends to be expensive to Norway from Germany since we're not EU members. I'd have to pay 25% VAT on the total + around NOK 110 in customs fee.
But anyway, I was interested in what your price was since you live where you live.

Here are some of my new tools I got last week. Two Knipex pliers, a Bahco hacksaw and a Wiha stubby bit driver. I also got some Schroder bits for the driver.

Sorry again for the cellphone pics.

Enjoy!

543 danish kr.

But we are not in the EU either, and I have never seen an item tripple in price before I got it in my hands.
Maybe not tripple price but count on 2-2.5 times the original price if you have to pay VAT. VAT limit is at NOK 200.
This set would be NOK 865 in my hand. (Just an example. I know there are cheaper sets.)

You have any cool stuff below NOK 200? :lol_hitti

Hardly tbh, we aim at only having tip top quality brands and items in the store, Knipex, Wolfcraft, Proxxon Industrial, Hultafors, Bahco, Wera, some Staco, Record, Metabo, Victorinox, Loewen Messer, Leatherman, and Thurmer.

Obviously you will find somethings below 200 kr. but nothing as complete as the bitset I think, maybe I will have to take a stroll trough the store to find out for sure tbh.

Wooooooowwwww, that's a lot of money :shocking:, I have asked my parent and has told me nothig has to be paid for it, for free in my country.
I don't know how long last one pen like that, but it seems a lot of money.

But he's in the US :)
They have a very different approach of health services there...
Here in Belgium too, you don't pay anything when you have diabetes, pen, glucose meter, insulin,... Even if you prefer to have a nurse coming to your house morning and evening for your injections it cost you less than 100$ a month.
They have better prices on tools than us but I think that for this kind of things it's better to live (in some countries) in Europe :D

How right you are Cantause, I already knew about USA's health system, but that does not prevent me to get shocked everytime I heard how much a medicine can cost there, or a simple radiograph; or that depending on your medical history (or your parents medical history), you cannot get insured because you would be economically unviable.... or.... or..... and the list of examples is endless.

I preffer by far the health system of many european countries instead of the USA's one, but that's only my opinion.

Cheers.

Where the tall corn grows!
so... I just picked up some Beta 1/2 sockets (10-32mm) - should be here mid week... will photo and post on them... I'm interested to see how well these hold up - will be in a daily use environment.

Any thoughts on Beta sockets, other than "pretty" and "shinny"?

Yes healthcare is very expensive here(so much I can't afford it) and to keep the money flowing they tell lies all the time like healthcare won't be available or they will kill older people if we have universal healthcare.

totally agree! It's an issue of morality more than anything else... it's healthcare, NOT tire sales.

I have some Sykes Pickavant/Britool/Facom/Beta/Williams super-slim/King-****/
Stahlwille/Snap-On/MAC. We dont have any Matco or Cornwell in the UK. Lista sell stuff over here though and that would be my choice if I ever buy another tool cart.

I do like my American tools, but old Britool stuff is very nice (the new stuff is rubbish).

@AndreasD

Nice Usag! It's a brand I'd like to see more often, some tools look better than the Facom's version, but Italian brands are not very popular in Belgium...
However I see more and more Beta tools signs in specialized shops windows, but I've never stopped to have a look. Actually, my brain has probably been sick lately, a friend of mine decided to get "real" equipment for his "new" hobby (restore Guzzi bikes) and bought two Beta roll-cart full of tools last summer, I've not even visited him to see his new tools and he lives at 100 meters, something's wrong with me :headscrat
I'll call him tomorrow

@Hazet:

Nice tools!
Stubbies are cute :D
Is the blue part of the screwdriver's handles softer than the black part?

Well, I can only say one thing to all of you USA fellows, it is on your hands to make it change and then have a better life... hope you sometime will achieve universal health.

Well, it's also a matter of big money, we have good social security systems in Europe because we pay a lot of taxes to pay for it.
However I'm happy of this system, nobody is "left on the side of the road", poor people don't have to choose between food and health care, it's a nice way to spend our taxes I think (far better than our F**** unexisting belgian government) :) sorry...

Welcome to GJ ;)

By the way, this morning's tools:

It was in the new flyers of my local tool shop with a few other PB tools, when I asked to the guy if he could get the whole line he asked me "you know that brand? I've never heard of it before... are they good" I answered what I've learnt here :)
The good news is that the whole PB line should be available at my local store at "fair" prices, I paid 65€ for the two sets, probably not the best prices but I'm so used to see crazy prices for "exotic" brands that I'm still happy :D

Thanks for all the comments about the usag set. Swedol here in sweden (or at least the local swedol shop) has A LOT of usag tools, they bought it from some company who went bankrupt i think. They sell it for half of the "catalogue price" + TAX (in sweden 25%) But some items are still very expensive. I totally love usag´s sheet metal boxes for the tools :)

A picture I took for a french forum, where some people think that Facom deserves being expensive because the OGV profil is so much better and unique...

Britool shallow and Facom OGV short socket:

<a href="http://s739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/cantause/?action=view&current=IMG_1342.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx39/cantause/IMG_1342.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

In real it looks even more identical because the Britool socket has an entrance chamfer, Facom almost not.
As Britool is part of the same group since 20 years I guess they share some technology and secrets.
I don't know about quality, I have only shallow sockets from Britool so I don't use them often but it doesn't look bad, especially when you consider they cost 3 times less than Facom...

Great stuff as always, Hazet!

I've been thinking about ordering some Hazet screwdrivers, but cant decide on any of them over Wera or Wiha. I like the parallel tips on the 800 series flatheads and the strike cap on these. They are so much more expensive than a set of chiseldrivers or extra heavy duty Wihas, though.

For sure that we pay a lot in taxes, but doing so we have a health system , and do not rely on health insurance companies that will tell wether you can or cannot be insured; another good side of the European Comunity is that a Belgian citizen like you can have medical care in Spain if needed (if you were to visit Spain for instance) or if I went to Belgium or Germany, I could be treated as well.

How long are you Belgians without a stable government?
That can't be good for the economy at all, and for the stability of the country too. Hope you get along with this situation soon.

But back on the tools again, I have to tell you that the circular saw you have just got seems awesome.
What have you planned to do with it?
Are you going to make all of the furniture for your kitchen?
And what kind of material is used mostly in making closets and cupboards, real wood or chipboard or...?
I think that here in Spain is chipboard what is mostly used.

Cheers.

Servus, folks,

BTW, where's Chreese? Haven't seen him in a while.

Thanks for your concern, superautobacs. Monte's suspicion does not apply:

good question ! Maybe he has a real life now ? :D In the german forum he is every now and then...

Indeed, it's been a long time since my last post on this forum/in this thread but I still don't have a real life. Everything is alright with me, it's primarily my job(s) that keep(s) me busy.
Fortunately, I nevertheless had enough time to add a number of items to my tool collection (Heyco Maxline wrenches, Bessey clamps, Fein Multimaster, Festool C12 LI cordless drill and this week I ordered a Schlegel EMF vise). Photos will follow as soon as I have time to take them and after I will have found a new webspace provider. Any recommendations for a free service?

@Monte: You own the Hazet thread restorer 842 AG-1, don't you? Would you recommend it? Any experiences with the internal thread restorers included in the set Hazet 842 AIG-1/4?
(As you might guess: I'm currently trying to figure out which Hazet tools to get before the Special Worldwide 2010 expires).

BTW, thanks everybody for the great contributions to this thread.

Does anybody here use a carpet extractor ("Sprühextraktionsgerät") in order to clean the upholstery in his car?

Have a nice Sunday,

Chreese

Yeah proper stuff there Ric :)

Anyway as promised here is some Hultafors :)

One of the flagships of Hultafors is their crowbars, they make in my opinion the best once that are around, absolutely orgasmic to just hold these, they are sooo smooth and nice to feel its unbelievable, but immensely powerful aswell.

dsc02297xm.jpg

I really like this one as its adjustable and you can use it in places where you otherwise would have a problem.

dsc02299e.jpg

And then they also have this one, which is great to just carry in your belt/pocket when you are working. perfect for the smaller things where a big one would just cause as much damage as it would do good.

dsc02339m.jpg

dsc02340jl.jpg

dsc02341w.jpg

Some proper spirit levels, the yellow once are good, but the aluminum are much better, but still we have yet to get the all pro line of these home which are even better yet.

dsc02344z.jpg

A really good oldschool latthammer

dsc02362w.jpg

dsc02363m.jpg

dsc02364la.jpg

And here arguably the best hammer available in Europe, forged in one piece, and has shock dampening aswell.

dsc02301ak.jpg

dsc02302fq.jpg

Some special Hultafors knifes.

dsc02307h.jpg

Some shank chisels from Rennsteig here aswell

dsc02308s.jpg

dsc02309e.jpg

dsc02310pm.jpg

Hultafors also make absolutely fantastic axes. All hand made aswell.

No time yet, but I should have time on sunday, can't wait :D
First I thought about Bosch (as usual :)) but when I looked a bit, as for hand tools, there were specialized brands with better reputation in woodworking. After browsing a bit, one brand was always considered as the best in this field, Festool... I think it's the first time I only see good comment about a brand, maybe it's because they stay in their specialized field and don't try to make something else...
I didn't look for competitors actually, but I don't like Dewalt that much, my brother is almost only equiped with them, robust for sure but usually heavy and not really precise, and precision was what I was looking for...

I think you made the right decision ;) There is also no big price difference here in continental EU, but the resale value of Festool is much much higher (quality probably too :) ) compared to the competitors. Metabo offers a version too. Bosch dont offer a plunge saw right now but will add one to their lineup by the end of 2011. But i doubt it will be better.

Makita may have been an option but I like to support the weak german economy :lol_hitti

yeah thanks !!! :D ;) maybe i will add a belgian made powertool to my collection in return :)

199.95€ I was so happy that day that I tipped chemist 5 cent.

Thank you for all the pics !!! Great posts !! You work in a nice shop !!!
Do you need a german speaking employee ?? :D
The Hultafors tools look great !!! Are all of them made in sweden ?

yes, its good for cleaning threads and restore small damages. The good thing is you can start in the milddle or end of a screw/stud and dont have to screw down the restorer all the way down to the damaged area. I dont have any experiences with the internal restorers. Maybe you can find a NES set cheaper without the H.... name on

i think there is a thread in the german forum about them

The Bosch screwdriver is cool !!!

Nepros makes very nice tools, but the selection is fairly small. Nepros are about 5% of my hand tools. Koken also makes some very nice tools and I am purchasing some now. I buy almost any tool if it is needed for a job and is good quality. I don't subscribe to the theory of only buying one brand or tools from one country.

I have found recipro saws to be very useful in a variety of situations. You can never have too many blades. I picked up the Bahco blades very cheap from Harry Epstein and from a local seller on ebay.

I am not a big fan of Bosch, but the industrial driver with adjustable torque is a very good tool, and I got it very cheap from a fellow GJ member. I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. My experience with Bosch products in the past has not been good.

Many times I purchase a tool to see if the manufacturer makes a quality product. I value some other people's opinions, but I would rather decide for myself if I think a tool is good or if it is poor quality. That was the case with Nepros, KTC and Koken hand tools. I had no experience with either brand so I bought a few and was very impressed with the quality. I had the same experience with Fein and Metabo power tools. I have seen many tools on this thread that interest me, but some are hard to find in the U.S. I really enjoy reading this thread though, to see all the tools produced in other parts of the world that I never knew existed. I guess I will never stop buying tools.

And what if you´re ill or have an accident ?

If its serious or life threatening you can go to the hospital and they can't turn you away for an inability to pay. I'm not really sure how it works as I haven't been to a hospital or a doctor since losing insurance(because of my age) in 2006. If I'm ill theres not much I can do about it except get OTC medicine at a pharmacy. :(

Hey Monte, I can't recall where those Staco Hex keys are made, I will have to take a closer look. However we are already in the process of making an order to Bahco for Hex keys which will cover the larger keys, up to 22.

Regardding Hultafors, then yes everything is made in Sweden and alot of it is hand made so quality is top notch. I will post back in a few days regardding the Staco keys and some more pictures of other tools :)

Yeah I got to try it out at Woodcraft. It didn't seem to cut as fast as my Bosch does but it may have been the blade I was using(different TPI, width, it could be dull, etc.) Someday I'll bring my Bosch and some blades there and try both to see whats best.

Mind to share which model of Bosch Jigsaw that u are using ? I also think to get Bosch Jigsaw before that but seen so many guys saying Festool is good in quality and is Made In Germany .
