photo 1: FACOM DELA compasses, protactor, desoldering pump (junkyard find), prevost blow gun with an air shield
photo 2,3,4 and 5: For americanlockpicker to enjoy , facom box wrenches, these are quite popular here, I like them for their stiffness which gives a good feel when a bolt is going to snap. The old ones are blind and the newer ones are hollow and the other end can be used as a deep socket.Thanks to an old style 12mm I have been able to easily remove a connecting rod on an atv engine without splitting the case, a 1/4 setting would have been unaccurate and uncomfortable.

I have purchased very few items new. Being able to buy "as new" second hand and continually upgrading has got me where I am at.

As to age, having the 1955 catalog lines up with the shortened sockets having been introduced.

Image shows my 1/4 drive 40e set from this era with several interesting additions.

-Note the three sockets shown below the case with the center one a little longer.

The longer one I consider to be the pre 1955 style.

-Inside the case including the three sockets below.
--0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10BA having added the odd numbered sizes.

-Outside the case to the left,
--top row 6 point 1/8 and 3/16 BSW
--2nd row, 12 point 1/8 and 3/16 BSW
--3rd row, 12 point 0 and 2BA
--4th row, 6 point deep 3/16BSW

Wrenches with this set were the even numbered BA sizes.
-0,2,4,6,8,10 with a matchstick for indicating size.

Added to their right are 1,3,5, ,9BA from a spanner wallet set.

I'm very familiar with Hazet and the VW round case. Stahlwille and VW didn't sound right to me but I'm not that big of a vintage VW guy so I didn't know one way or another.

Bart, where'd you order your Hazet from? I've yet to find a place over there willing to ship here.

I've contacted Hazet directly and haven't heard anything back--anyone know if they sell direct and ship to the States?

That set is for soft wood, hard wood, plastic, gypsum, noble metal and non-ferrous metal

For steel you should look for carbide bits for example Proxxon # 28750 or #28752 also made by Meisinger or ELA. There are also carbide (?) bits from Dremel "made in Germany"

I'll post a few up:

My almost bare 190. Don't worry, I've got sockets, wrenches and other goodies on order.

It has just a few Hazet (hammer, ratchet and sockets) pieces right now. By the way, the knurling on the Hazet torx sockets put every other brand to shame. All other brands' knurling is all show, no go. The Hazet knurling actually works with greasy hands.

Other brands are Knipex
Wurth
Gedore
Wiha
Spark plug coil puller from Wunderlich has Germany as COO but I don't know who makes that tool, I don't think Wunderlich actually produces anything.
All the wrenches are Stahlwille, vintage and new.

Awesome HAZET stuff. I like the 190. I might have to get one. Does the 8816g have a metal or plastic change lever? I have an older ratchet (with black handle). I agree that the knurling is the best around. I was a bit disappointed with Stahlwille's version. Gedore knurling are also very useful.

Yeah, the lever is plastic. I'd prefer metal of course. But, hey, even the gas tank on my BMW bike is plastic now. The way of the world.

The lockup on the change lever is solid though. Excellent. You know how craftsman and others change direction but never really lock and will sometimes jam, spin freely or reverse? This doesn't. It's a definite ON or OFF type mechanism, which I appreciate. As good or better than my Snap-on.

I got the 190 from Inky here. Definitely worth it.

Monte, I realize this is a long-shot but do you know who actually manufactures this? Only info I can get is that Wunderlich designed it in Sinzig and that they claim it is made in Germany. But by whom I don't know. I don't think Wunderlich actually manufactures tools, do they?

My favourite Swiss made cola thats banned in germany for containing cocaine. :)

Also I seen some Black & Decker bit sets for $5.50 but they weren't stamped Germany so I didn't get them.

I don´t know , but their website states "Made in Germany" and "Made by Wunderlich" for this product so i guess they make it .
I don´t know any specific motorcycle tool manufacturers, i´ve also never seen anodized tools over here, if, then they´re usually imported. So if they don´t make it then i don´t know who ?

Many ebay sellers do not advertise the fact they are from east germany, I stumbled upon them on ebay.de when looking for a caliper (bügelmessschraube). It is easier to find them new rather than used :headscrat, maybe a tool cave has been unveiled in the leipzig catacombs ? :lol_hitti.

The "socket" it fits used to cost something like 600€, I 'll let you guess what it fits :bounce:.
