nice pliers + screwdriver collection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps: Where did you find the "Will" pliers ?
@Monte
Thanks!!! A friend of mine brought them from Germany as a present 4 or 5 years ago. They are German-made, chromed, 1000V tested. I'll post few better pictures later on. Have you seen them in stores? I have not.

The only things I were looking at was the drills and impacts, so forgive me if I appear a bit miffed that none of the battery powered ones are from Switzerland. Looks like i'm buying a few more extension cords! :bounce: If I had a use for the other stuff, I'd buy it.

:)
here a swiss one for you :D

these ones were swiss made once too:

I own one from blue-point

Nice Collection. Ive tried to collect a few Facom, Hazet, Stahlwille tools. they are great

nice ! Do you have any pics ? :)

I thought Proxxon was German?

a german company yes :)

I have some proxxon stuff, and although it is not Hazet or Stahlwille, it is very well made, especially if you look at the price. a lot of tool for your €/$.

Thats right. Many people are happy with their Proxxon tools.

Downside are the size-markings. They are burned/lasered on, meaning you need to wipe them of when looking for a certain size.
No knurling on sockets either, so a bit more difficult to work with in tight spaces and dirty conditions.

I thought tools have to be stored clean anyway ?? :D
I prefer knurling too and a non-cylindrical shape of the socket.

ah ok , i thought you bought them in the states somewhere ! I´ve not yet seen them either...
You mostly only find Knipex here or rebadged pliers from Orbis and Will or import products.

old "Meister" screwdriver i found at a store

Just got back from Europe and here is a buddy's Assistent. His tool collection looked something like Monte's must. Every German tool you can imagine (except he didn't know NWS, oddly), but more Hazet than any other brand. I also had some Hazet delivered there and will post pics later.

@Monte : ahah ! I don't think my father wants to adopt anyone : he's already pissed off all the time with his two sons (my brother and i :D), but since you're a very nice guy i'll ask him for you, promised:D

@Trucky : Be very careful with Facom's tools. Their products come from all over the world now, including China. For myself, i own only two Taiwan made Facom's, i use them quite often and i'm still not desapointed about their quality/durability but i would always recommand you the "made in France" ones... Btw the Lockingplier #517 sold for 8$ in US, is listed at EUR 30,- (~ 35$) here in France. I can't explain such a price difference :headscrat

@bart1 : Thank you for posting this nice Hazet Assistent pic, it's always a joy to see some quality used tools:bounce:

Hazet 1/2 breaker bar :

I respectfully disagree.
If you are going to put a pipe extension on anything, I cannot think of better brands than Hazet and Stahlwille. Chances are they will survive and you too. :)

Here we are talking about pipe extensions in the 2 meter range.

hazet3.jpg

# blue color and semi smooth finish! $10

# Fancy brand name! $30

# superior strength and ability to endure abuse! priceless :pimpflash

When it comes to strenght - Hazet is among the top qualifiers. I do not buy it because it is fancy, I buy Hazet for it's brutal strength!

Umm, yes, Hazet is quite strong IMOHO.

Daddy likes this stuff...

You might hesitate putting and extension pipe on that p[retty plastic handle, though.

not so difficult when you look on french forums and see thousands upon thousands of posts praising the otherworldly class, quality and lifetime warranty of anything adorned with the Facom name on it... a bit like the Snap-on "tools" that buy SNA Europe tools(Bahco, Irimo, etc.) rebranded as "Genuine Snap-On" at twice or thrice the price! :headscrat indeed... :D
same goes with flea market sellers: facom is always more expensive than other brands: an old series 40 15mm wrench with peeled chrome and some serious rust might have an asking priice of 5 or 10 euros but a brand new Snap-On, Hazet or a Stahlwille might go for one or two... :lol_hitti

i forgot that some are even selling broken Facom tools like sockets or old torque wrenches for some serious money to poor guys that hope to get a brand new one under warranty... :lol:

Where can I get that plier for $8? I'd buy a bunch at that price. Heck, maybe give a few away for the tip? :D

I thought Barcelona is a big city with a lot of stores :)
if Bhae don´t get back to you you could try www.irimo.es

You're right Monte, Barcelona is a big city, but it seems they are more interested on selling food, clothes electronics and shoes than on quality tools.

Of course that there are a lot of tool shops, but most of them carry some brand which here we love so much :lol_hitti, that is Stanley; apart from typical Chaiwaneese tools. Lots of them carry Knipex, too, and I have only seen NWS on two stores.

Thank you for your help, I mailed Irimo and they addressed me to that shop, then phoned them and told me the price... almost 29€... it is cheaper to order through Amazon than on a local dealer.

They had swiss made 18 Volt cordless drills, the 18V angle grinder is made in germany, the rotary hammer too, cordless jigsaw is from switzerland, the large impact wrench "Made/Assembled in USA" . Bosch has the least amount of outsourced cordless products compared to the other major players. Of course some products are from Malaysia (drills, impact drivers) or China (Cordless recipro saw) which can´t be that bad since the Bosch recipro saw is sold as "Snap-On" too.

Do you mean that all of their cordless drills come now from Malaysia???
Even the most expensive???
And of course, without lowering prices, that's it, a real shame :sad:

The only things I were looking at was the drills and impacts, so forgive me if I appear a bit miffed that none of the battery powered ones are from Switzerland. Looks like i'm buying a few more extension cords! :bounce: If I had a use for the other stuff, I'd buy it.

Trucky, if I were you, I would try to find some older cordless drill like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GIPG22/?tag=atomicindus08-20 (which I suppose is from Switzerland like mine is).
Good luck!!

@AutomatiquE:
- Nice Locking Plier

@BigRussian_from_NYC:
- Great Knipex, great tool team

@PrecisionTools:
- Nice pics. My pliers Gedore were very cheap, end of stock.

@pacsguy:
- Great Wera tools.

@Monte:
- Nice Pics. My Gedore pliers do not have VDE certification. The "1000V" tools, it is more a specification of the insulation capacity (marketing). VDE certification is mandatory testing of isolation in 10000V, to ensure isolation of 1000V offered.

@bart1:
- Nice assistent and tools.

Do not resist, I bought some stuff from Taiwan and China. :)

Some is Malaysian others are Swiss... I've seen both for the same product. Also I had really been after that for a long time and was even considering ordering the tool from DE. When I first seen it at Lowes the display model was Swiss but all the models after that for a long time was Malaysian. Then I lucked out at the Lowes in Parkersburg as they mislabled the prices on a Swiss 18V drill for $175 or so and I had a $20 off coupon. Really lucked out that day. :)

Of course you're going to have space problems if you keep buying so many tools!! :D

Let me know how the little pliers hold up. Every small plier I have ever bought seemed like it was made of plastic instead of metal! The edges just go dull very quickly -_-

So which companies are not farming out their manufacturing then? If I'm buying, I'd want my money going to a company who's management supports its own people and industry. I cant do it in my own country (for tools anyway) so I might as well do it for someone else!

Who does all their manufacturing in Germany for example? Stahlwille? Gedore? Hazet?

...Stahlwille, Hazet, Elora, Heyco, Matador, Knipex....
ALL their manufacturing yes, but not ALL products they offer are from Germany...

(Edit: Heyco has a facility in Ireland too)

Gedore produces almost all of their products in their own factories which are located in Germany, Brazil, South Africa, Turkey and England.

I see! Have you ever ordered from that website? Looks ok to me, but I want to make sure..

And I finally see where that logo (your avatar) comes from.. I was wondering, but I didn't feel the need to ask.

Small, but still quality of large pliers. Definitely they are not made of plastic. :thumbup:

That's what I was hoping for. I really would like some decent pliers, guess I know who I'm buying them from now :D

time to update your avatar Monte! :D :lol_hitti

does that pic mean that they'll soon offer the open Box 13 in a black oxyde, more "ecological", "industrial" finish? :thumbup:

i really like the fact that they use real world pictures of their customers toolboxes there, it's pretty amazing to see Gedore, Wiha and many other brands... won't see that on the staged website shot of most toolmakers...:spit:

sad news: after the TOP stainless breakage, i broke one of the tips of my old trusty Facom 405.10MT cutting pliers too... :Help:

hopin' i'm not off to a nightmarish Facom warranty claim like the last one! :(

gotta find some(idealy swiss or japanese) replacement; too bad Felco doesn't offer that kind of tools... :drool: Monte's come to the rescue and peruse your catalogs please! :lol_hitti

I looked up those pliers... oh my are they expensive! Cheapest one I saw was ~$80. That's quite a sum. They must have been really nice before you got them in your hands :D haha

May I ask how you broke it? I've only broken 1 pair of pliers.. and that was one of the "compound" jointed long-nose pliers with a cutting edge.. I was trying to cut a 1/8" allen key... it seemed like a good idea at the time lol :D

realllllllllly nice, yes... and i'm anything but a Facom shill! :thumbup:
i can't believe it! Ultgar sells them cheaper than here in France! :confused:

Trucky said:

some kind of Bowden-ish cable (under the .5mm limit) but was in a bad position: couldn't cut straight across the wire so did it diagonally...
bummer! didn't even realise they broke then, only when cleaning them did i see the missing bit! :eyecrazy:

Ouch. I don't know about cutting cable that transmits motion, that's some seriously tough stuff... but it IS a good excuse to bring out the expensive pliers :D I hope they warranty it quickly, given that you're near where the company is located. I think.

I wonder where "Ultgar" ships to?

i always had a good laugh when some Facom fanboy tried my Hazet rat, Ko-Ken impact sockets, the Stahlwille Open Box 13 wrenches or the old PB Swiss 100 screwdrivers! :D

now i don't let them near my tools, too much temptation for them! :shocking:

And I would hope your wrenches are out of their boxes, or else how can you use them when they're sealed inside a box? :D (kidding :))

Nice I haved a good experience with Shell cable cutter:D
but in the market now it have original and imitation, the original one comes from Japan a price more expensive and a imitation one a litter bit cheaper..
It also difference from quality of material,and the thickness of a head.The original is thin compare with imitation:D

Having just purchased two sets from the Hong Kong guy, mrtools, what is the relative difference in size? I'm figuring the price I paid they will be copies, but always pays to know. :thumbup:

Thanks Monte ;)

Yes, I knew of them since a couple of months, that's why I wanted to get the older model of the GSB 18 VE-2LI, before I couldn't find it anywhere

This is a set very similar to one that Teng tools do - about $50-60NZ IIRC.

That's about 29-35€, quite pricey.
