V!

looks definitely like a fake "Husqvarna" branded pair of scissors... if Husqvarna ever did sell scissors under it's brand! :D

the plastic looks cheap, "Solingen" marking is upside down and that "Steel" alone is pretty ridiculous... i do not think that one of the companies that do that kind of tools in Solingen would let that pass its doors... usually thet do use "Rostfrei" or "Stainless Steel" if the blades are stainless and a simple small "Solingen" stamp if not stainless...:)
that would be more more in line with the habitual productions of Solingen since it's pretty obvious the blades are made of steel! :D :lol_hitti

most important thing is: do they cut well regardless of the "authenticity" of their markings? :D
if they do, that's not a problem!

I see! Have you ever ordered from that website? Looks ok to me, but I want to make sure..

nope, but there are some ppl here who already ordered there and everybody was happy. The shop owner also posts here...

And I finally see where that logo (your avatar) comes from.. I was wondering, but I didn't feel the need to ask.

:)

time to update your avatar Monte! :D :lol_hitti

eeehhhhh nope :) eco-friendly forging ??? with a hybrid engine driven forging hammer ? :) from Toyota ?
no - :) i prefer tools made by old forging hammers powered by the old Merceds 6.9 liter engines :D without catalytic converter :D
;)

does that pic mean that they'll soon offer the open Box 13 in a black oxyde, more "ecological", "industrial" finish?

yes they will. More ecological and economical. They look like the pic i posted. They´re much cheaper because - as you can see - they come without a box end. It´s closed. So you have to make your own. They also sell the wrenches in a "DIY kit" together with a drill bit and a file so you can make your own box end.

Don´t believe everything i write :D ;)

i really like the fact that they use real world pictures of their customers toolboxes there, it's pretty amazing to see Gedore, Wiha and many other brands... won't see that on the staged website shot of most toolmakers...:spit:

Stahlwille are the good guys :)

sad news: after the TOP stainless breakage, i broke one of the tips of my old trusty Facom 405.10MT cutting pliers too... :Help:

TOP stainless breakage ?

gotta find some(idealy swiss or japanese) replacement; too bad Felco doesn't offer that kind of tools... Monte's come to the rescue and peruse your catalogs please! :lol_hitti

:) EREM ?? :)
or how about something from Allemagne or Suède ?? :)
Schmitz with jaws with carbide insert ....or Lindström...

This!!!

No 1590 EVSK style one? Also speaking of Bosch I had trouble registering on their forum do you have a mod's email handy?

no... maybe the extra precision is not needed for the tasks of a cordless saw (??) or in the trade they made it for (roofer ?) i dunno...

i will try to find a email for you

i googled "Housquvarna" - only 32 results.... nothing about scissors... i think it´s a fake... :( i only know "husqvarna" ...

No, I haven't ever contacted Stahlwille nor Hazet, but I will surely do, maybe they will point me to stores I don't know in my city, and those stores selling other brands from Germany in which I can be interested, too.
Thanks Monte ;)

Thats always the best idea, often there are small hardware stores which you woulnd´t find without the adress....

Quite a difference, don't you think?
Monte, do you know how much can cost the NWS 1093-49-VDE-180 at a local store there in Germany?

yeah 9.- euro ....Thats about 18 Deutsche Mark :D .... too much for the same product :(

30 bucks tax included. There is a "109" version which cost 21,90 + tax (list price)
http://www.wuppertools.de/nws_vde_kraft-kombizange_combimax_1093-49-vde-180::10325.html

Jure: I bought Merox 250mm adjustable wrench - you can see a photo of it several pages back. It seems to be heavy duty tool, and it is really well made and heavier too compared to similar product from Stanley or Lux. It has no play in jaws, and I'm simply satisfied with it

(speaking of that: Moose i got something for you!;))

yes, the TOP stainless cutting pliers had the same unfortunate fate with some too big stainless wire (had no choice :() but they did have a long and fruitful life before!

They are, unfortunately. I will admit that it isn't new, but it's the only one i've found in months of looking. I missed out on a new old stock one long ago. :(

Oh really? Being that you're French, and therefore must naturally hate the English, should i be worried?

Monte, what is the reputation of Sora's tools in Germany ?

non existent. Never read or heard anything about them. Seem to be the OEM of a couple of brands like Merox, Black + Decker, Champion, Famex, Fcw-Cukiso, LSR-Tools etc. though...
i don´t know . Can´t say much...

they had a nice booth at the hardware fair though

Looks like he needs a little more storage space, given that half his tools are on the outside of the box! :D

I have often wondered how tools rust like that? Is it just through not cleaning them? Is it just the enviroment. I have seen some people with tools that get used everyday and just put back in the box not cleaned and they are years old and not rusty, then I have also seen people with tools that for whatever reason just go brown.

Thank you Monte for these informations. I didn't know Sora was the OEM of FCW/Cukiso... I always thought Cukiso made all their tools, in their own factory. Also nice Stahlwille tool box pictures. On what sort of car does this friend works ?

humidity, sweat, water, not using them...
if you put them back uncleaned or wipe them down with a (greasy) rag there always will be a kind of protective coat of grease/oil etc. on the tools (if you don´t clean them with brake cleaner) i think.
In our case the garage is not heated and the humidity is very high so in the winter month there often is a coat of water on all metal objects.

it´s just a guess. :) handles look the same for me (Sora/Cukiso) i don´t know who exchanges what with whom... :)
There are a couple of people who work with this box, one dude maintain "salt spreader" vehicles and a snow tractor, the other dude work on all kinds of cars, the next on a motorcycle and the son on a ****** cabrio.

@PrecisionTools
Nice:drool:

I am not sure but I think my father had one like this.
;)

got em yesterday,i will use em,yesterday just did a test how they are sitting on the bolt (6 point one) and they are awesome!
Thanks!:)

@mrtools
Electrical engineer, but I do all of my electrical/mechanical/plumbing/construction work around house myself.
Regarding my comment about Channellock: @ Home Depot or Lowes, average price for a pair of Channellock pliers is $16-$20. Heck, I would just add another $5 and buy a German-made Knipex instead. I have noticed that steel quality of Channellock had gone down over the years significantly, new pliers do not hold the cutting edge long, riveted joints develop play, etc. Also, Channellocks are rather made crudly these days, the real craftsmanship and quality are long gone, but none of this applies to old Channellock pliers (1960's), they were real tools back then. I have an old Channellock 8" diagonal cutter made in early 1960s, the plastic handles had peeled off 20 years ago, but cutting edge is still perfect and the rivet joint is still solid, no play at all, both halves are symmetrical and match each other.
By the way, went to Home Depot last night, saw a pair of linesman Klein pliers MADE IN MEXICO!!!:scared: for $39.97!!!:scared: Hell's no, I'm not buying that ****! Sadly, here goes another quality brand:(
The Felo insulated screwdrivers are quite good and comfortable, were made in Germany.
The Ergonic handles have hard and soft lobes, excellent fit in your hands and you can squize them to get more grip while you tighten some screws. Tips are hard and match screws perfectly, the way it should be.

Good Engineer I mean a very good multitask engineer:thumbup::beer:
I am agree with you, the old Channellock awesome quality but now:(
30- 40 years ago every tools company produced a very good quality tools..That age money no object, now all company cut their cost and what we get just a average or rubbish tools!
That why I am very interested with a little bit rusty and oldskool tools compare to a new shinny tools.:rocker:
Thanks for to share your experienced about Felo Insulated screwdrivers, It on my wish lists.

PB Swiss SWISSGRIP.
Torx, Phillips, Pozidrive, Pozidrive/Slotted, Slotted
Nice!
Pozidrive/Slotted do you like it?

:)
here a swiss one for you :D
old "Meister" screwdriver i found at a store
Awesome! it yours?
Great west Germany stuff:rocker:

;)

Just got back from Europe and here is a buddy's Assistent. His tool collection looked something like Monte's must. Every German tool you can imagine (except he didn't know NWS, oddly), but more Hazet than any other brand. I also had some Hazet delivered there and will post pics later.
Looks like your buddy not appreciate/love their tools, Would you tell him send it to Malaysia, I have a good home for a Assistant:D:D:bounce:

@cliceu
Emm Chaiwanese:(

Now with small NWS, Wiha and Wera: :bounce:
Now I'll wait to post more pictures.
But do not worry, ten packets have to arrive from Germany this month to put into my Veto Pro Pack. :rocker:
Guess I'll have problems with space in Veto Pro Pack.
Awesome Germany stuff
Keep pics coming:eyecrazy:

Having just purchased two sets from the Hong Kong guy, mrtools, what is the relative difference in size? I'm figuring the price I paid they will be copies, but always pays to know.
Tried to borrow my buddy Shell cutter:)
Maybe a pics can answer your questions:D
100720113132.jpg

Top = Shell original, a little bit short:)
Bottom = imitation:(

100720113138.jpg

imitation more large head:(
100720113133.jpg

Shell original a little bit thin head:)
100720113136.jpg

imitation rough built compare to Shell original:bounce:
100720113137.jpg

The original one 5 years usage vs imitation 2 years usage
Hoped the pics answer your questions:beer:

mrtools; the original Shell cable cutter looks very similar to "Bost"version sold over here. It is probably made in Taiwan, imitating Shell design. or even made by Shell?
----------
40+ years old Stahlwille. I grew up on a farm and this was THE braker bar and as such used for everything. It was kept in the "Garage" that was half of snow half of the winter, damp and moist spring and autumn. It got lost several times when me or my brothers needed to "fix" something ....somewhere!

skaft1.jpg

It can be used as an extension too.
skaft2.jpg

I was 16 or 17 and trying to remove a tire from potato-harvester with our neighbor - when it finally broke. He was only using a "short" pipe so it must have been fatigue from prior use that got the best of it.

skaft3.jpg

Few days later I needed something to turn sockets so I fired up the Miller welder and "fixed" it. I cannot remember what I used for bolt but I think it is cut from broken grass rake spring.

skaft4.jpg

It was used few more years but is currently retired. Many memories tied to this steel-bar. :)

A woodworking tool, but I think this c. 1956 Record No. 5 with corrugated sole is a worthy tool from the old world! A recent purchase, I spent a good bit of time on refurbishing this neglected tool- cleaning up the chewed up screw heads, removing light surface rust and household paint, refinishing the original handles and light fettling to improve performance.
