Just because I think we all like pictures, here are some comparison pics of a 14mm socket in 1/4" and 3/8" drive - Hazet, of course.

Love this thread, has got me looking at so many tool makes i never knew about before (or had heard of but wasn't sure of the quality) as i mainly bought mac or snap on tools when i was last working in a garage (plus some Knipex.. sold through mac tools if i remember correctly).

i have a few of my own items to post, mostly pliers so far, but i have a lot more purchases planned

Before i do anyone know of a good quality European or Japanese (or American, even though this thread is old countries) made multimeter? i have a gunson's one which is nice but no idea where its made (it has no country on it) i realize someone may have said before but im only half way through reading the thread :p

thanks, guess I've missed or not got to that post yet :p Fluke are the make to get then, had another cheap one before.. but it lasted a few months before startign to give wildly inaccurate readings ¬_¬ ill have to look investigate them (those two are a bit out of my current budget, but a cheaper one will work)

Hi. That picture looks similar to the Pferd logo.klick Monte, I hope "click" is not patented;-) Ohhh... By the way... This is the greatest forum thread I've read in ages. Maybe just HeadFi forums click can compete.

Here is one for you Monte, its a feeler gauge that I bought over 10 years ago at a petrol station (I've been living in Europe for the past 18 years) its marked "Made in West Germany" and there is a picture of a cat or small animal jumping through a hoop.

This looks more like mine. Maybe mine is a 73?? I've had it for close to 15 years, when I bought it used. Have only had to replace the battery and haven't been gentle on it, if that tells you anything.

I've been helping out a friend the past couple weeks, he's a former VW main dealer Licened (That's beyond Master.) tech.

Went to fetch something from his car and found this:

Image0211.jpg

VW/Audi VAS5052 main dealer diag machine!

And another..

Image0224.jpg

VAS5051 main dealer workshop diag machine, this has built in meter, scope, etc.

And he gave me this, a Hazet/VW T10039 door trim/panel removal tool.

Hey Monte, can you show some pics of the two Gedore wrenches side by side to show the side of the beam?
I have a 1b 13mm too which I bought for a spesific purpose back in the 80's. Don't remember what it was but the deep offset thin-wall box end did the trick. Don't like the sharp handle though.

Difficult to see anything, but the 7-XL is a bit thicker and has a convex shape, while the 1B has a more rounded shape with a smalller radius, so it´s "sharper", the 7-XL is less sharp.

Some time ago I got these side-cut pliers for 2Eur in local pawn shop. I only knew I need them, but nothing about Garant brand - for "small" tools like this, is it good choice or not? Does Garant have something with Stahlwille?

nice !
Garant wrenches + sockets are made by Stahlwille.
If you can get the tools for a good price - why not ?

Hahaha, thanks for the tip, I will try to stay away from those Germans, or in any need of communication I would try to switch to English ;)

:D yeah that´s better !

Well, you know that you won't go to sleep without having learnt something new, now you know Bosch once made such tool (or somebody did for Bosch) ;)
It has been at home for more than 20 years and it still works.

 now we have to find a italian manufacturer of soldering guns- otherwise i can´t sleep :D

Nice soldering irons, have you and your father used them much?
Mine (well, it's from my father) has seen little use, to say the truth.

my father yes, he does everything around the house, like electrical installations, plumbing, tiling etc. But i don´t know how many times he used them , i´ll ask if he counted how often he used which one :D

A few more packages arrived.

WOW that are some really nice tools you got !!!:bowdown::bowdown:

How do you like the Athlet ratcheting screwdriver ?

but can you tell me what it is and what you use it for please?
Counter sink

+ depth stop

Sorry about the picture quality, photos were taken on my phone and I was holding my 16month old daughter in my other arm.

First up some pliers. The pratt-read ones are made by knipex i belive. and on the left is a grip-on from spain.

This is one that I can't remember how I got but I bought it new. Hard to read but it says Rennsteig. This is my favorite chisel in this size.
IMG_20110804_185453.jpg

These FELO screwdrivers are really nice and are made of Birch.
IMG_20110804_185236.jpg

The Felo screwdrivers don't get used too much because I have all these Wiha screwdrivers that are my work horses. I love these drivers, phillips up front, flat in the middle, and torx at the far end

Good to know those are Orbis. thanks!

The Felo drivers I got for my Father-in-law and my Dad as a gift. When I was in my teens there was this wood handle screwdriver that we both really liked and always reached for it first whenever we needed a phillips. No idea who makes it now, but it was a good driver. It broke several years ago and that spot in my dad's tool box never got filled. I bought him this set about a year ago and a couple months after giving him this it made me happy to find the Felo phillips in the spot the old wooden screwdriver used to be.

I think the licenced VW techs were trained on the Pheaton and the Touregs with the big engines, some of our guys carry the VAS systems and can do DISS reporting for warranty work.

Yes, that's correct. Licenced techs are Master techs with the additional Touareg/Phaeton endorsement. A Master tech cannot do work on Touaregs/Phaetons besides routine maintenance and stuff like brakes.

I like the engine cradle thing, do they have to support the vehicle differently when they drop all that weight out of front end?

Yes, it's strapped to the lift by means of special ratchet straps and brackets. Those cradles are pretty serious. I used one once, it's an impressive piece of kit. It's electro-hydraulic and there are lots of those pins for different models and engines/gearboxes.

@Monte or Jens : All new Reilang are Swiss made ?

All new Reilang oilers in aluminum I received today (I ordered the complete range of the Reilang Solution line) are stamped on the bottom that they are made in Switzerland. Except for the ROD300AL which seems to be from a previous production run made in Germany.

First orders have been shipped. I'll add pictures later.

Just dragged these up from the barn to do a little job around the house so I figured I'd take a few shots to put up here.

Got this a few weeks ago from a boot sale (vide grenier). All sockets are the Acesa originals apart from 3 of them (2 replaced by USAG and the 12mm by a no-name).

When I got it the ratchet had been replaced by a SAM ratchet (also pictured) but I put a Bahco ergo in there because i figured it was made in Spain. :)

Now searching around the boot sales for the original ratchet.

Some of my collection, sadly pretty small at the moment :(

IMG_0459.jpg

IMG_0469.jpg

Some Knipex pliers and cutters, a pair of engineer neji-saurus screw pliers and a Wera screwdriver magnetizer/demagnetizer (works far better at magnetizing than demagnetizing...)

the Knipex cutters I've had for the best part of a decade and there due for replacement, they've been well used (read abused) and are a bit 'sloppy' now, still cut fine though.

the VDE ones are a few years old, and the red handle ones were a bargain £10 find on eBay a week ago :D

I actually bought the Engineer inc pliers after seeing them on this thread, were a lucky find on eBay, Japanese tools are a rare find here, work really well too, nicely made and the grips are really comfortable (and they look cool :bounce: )

IMG_0467.jpg

couple of Nos Hazet sockets, a polydrive (square spline drive, used by Fiat etc most commonly) and a E11 torx, Hazet tools are fairly hard to find here it seems, these came off ebay again

got a pair of vessel wire strippers on there way too, plus replacing a lot of my worn out (and/or cheap) tools with new quality ones

Ribe-CV. Polydrive is used by VW-Audi only. :)

Thanks
I stand corrected :D there pretty uncommon, even fiat doesn't use them for everything (annoying)

I didn't know the right name so looked it up (and got it wrong lol), can see the difference between polydrive and Ribe-CV now, guess the fasteners are less prone to stripping than torx

Both are oddly hard to get tools for, well in the uk anyway, no doubt they will become more common, or quickly become obsolete.
