Nice stuff inspector.
Nice SAM ratchet. Any ties to Facom? What's the quality of SAM tools?
Thanks north.
Others will be better placed to comment on SAM vs. Facom in terms of quality.
My impression is that SAM has been seen to be a good quality brand but less expensive to buy than Facom, and I am sure someone will correct me but I haven't seen SAM and Facom sold in the same shop.
We have a dedicated "quincaillerie" hardware shop that deals with professionals from different trades and they stock SAM, Makita and Metabo, whereas the auto spares specialist just along the road deals solely in Facom.
The agricultural co-operative used to stock Facom but last year changed to Drakkar who also give a universal guarantee.... don't know much about them.
The 2 main superstores used to stock Facom, Bost, with bits of Stanley, Knipex but one of these also seems to have dropped Facom stuff.
All the garages I've seen here invariably have Facom but I saw one recently that had a Gedore cart as well.
As far as that SAM ratchet is concerned it certainly is a sturdy piece of kit that you wouldn't want to be whacked over the head with! Only had it a few weeks but it feels good and works perfectly.
I will say one thing though and that is that practically everyone knows Facom around here and if thaat had been a Facom ratchet in the box someone would have bought the thing before I got there and would have paid a lot more than I did for the thing!
