The after pics. Top to bottom + Bahco left and Kongsberg right:

- Unknown. Measured to 29mm - 24mm
- Rheidco-Metabo 21mm
- Arvika Verken 5/8" - 1/2" (Whitworth)
- Stahlwille Stabil 27mm - 22mm
- Stahlwille Stabil 17mm - 14mm
- Stubai (Austria) 1/2" - 7/16"
- Kongsberg (not in the first pic)
- Bahco adjustable (left)
- Kongsberg adjustable (right)

The knife was just cleaned with a 3M wheel and I forgot to put in the picture.

The Kongsberg was beat up under the gunk and the worse of the two adjustables. It needed some file work to have the jaw move properly, hence the Bahco file from before.

I had never heard of Arvika Verken, had to google it. Found http://www.volvogroup.com/group/swe...seums/pages/history_arvikamuseet_history.aspx

Seems it should have been made between 1917 and 1959.

This little mark does not exist in what I saw in the shop and and I think the finish in the 8250 is slightly different (maybe not).

I'm a little disappointed with the sliding T-Handle. All the 1 / 4 socets have a little play but nothing annoying. The T-handle have much larger playing.

Those are old, that Beta factory's where in that time;Italy (1938 Sovico, 1973 Castiglione...

Ok Thanks:thumbup:
Btw, Castiglione...in Calabria ?

Well, I just got it so I haven't put it through its paces yet...

Ok buddy, thanks for info:thumbup:

Thanks for the info Automatique.
Do you think those with titan finish have the same resistant to rust as the chrome plated?

I don't know, actually i used my universal pliers maybe 15-20 times max. And always in my garage, never outdoor. But this titan finish looks really strong.

ps: Very nice Odur-fit pliers, really good quality looking and old school stuff:drool::thumbup: I always wanted one of those , i'm jealous...:)

When the European meets Asian all task done smoothly:D

Tone, Hazet, etc...very fresh pics Mr tools:thumbup:
thank you very much, that's always a pleasure to see high quality tools:thumbup: Also, happy to see the Hazet circlip pliers "in action", Ok they're not made from Chrome-Vanadium, Ok they're just stamped steel but Man...wow they're so original:rocker:

btw Gedore stuff + pliers: :)

Nice "K" pliers, didn't know about this new model with "arrows"

New Bahco file today. Made in Portugal...

Unfortunately only a few came today.

Quality bits set at the good price : smart:beer:

Unfortunately I'm a little disappointed with the sliding T-Handle. All the 1 / 4 socets have a little play but nothing annoying. The T-handle have much larger playing.

My hazet 1/4 ratchet and sockets have a comparable play. It seems many 1/4 sets have this issue, you should not be worry about that. (Monte, correct me if i'm wrong).

btw. take care of your hands.... found this winter work gloves

Talking about gloves:)

because they´re defective more often

Your not inspiring confidence in German engineering Monte. BTW what do you think about Mercedes Benz C Class? Is it quality despite low cost and most importantly is it made in Germany?

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicles/class/class-C

I'm considering getting one in 5 years.

If "here" means Bangladesh or India then yes :D

I meant USA, lots of stuff(clothing, etc.) I see with that 3M Thinsulate label is made in USA. :)

Those Gedore pliers look amazing... I guess it doesn't matter much what a tool looks like as long as it gets the job done but I gotta say they certainly made them attractive. I love the black and blue color scheme too.

 how did you cut it ? Blue or black foam would look nice
Home made..just cut it with utility knife and some custom made pipe for cut a round slot for sockets:D
Yeaah it a good color tone for Hazet:drool:
come´on you want a 1 cm thick case to be satisfied :D
but thats to expensive and heavy :)
It not what I means:D in the catalog PICS it looks thick and tough enough! a thickness maybe a second issue but the most important is a plastic material it looks so easy to brake:mad: or maybe it only design to a smart guys not for me a smart + rough guy:D
to be honest + professional it my personal opinion, I did not mean to condemn Hazet Smart case..hopefully GJ members think with positive way about this matters:thumbup: It is for improvement on their product:beer:
I hope in the future Hazet made a Smart case from durable plastic material like this:

Hi Guys, modo here again.Seems to be this feeling that Beta tools are no longer available in the US.confess i am a little biased as i worked for them in the UK for a number of years and have plenty of them ,Done some more digging and the US distributor is Procare USA in Huntington Beach CA,and they have no plans to drop the line and are expanding--it appears even NASA are using them.I also still have an internal Beta list which gives coo for all products-so if you want to fire any items to me i will let you know.

Thanks Automatique.

when I saw it I bought it immediately with the excuse to myself that the set of pliers that I want to buy is a bit expensive for now. :D

Only the bit socket costs as the entire set. This is one of the best offers of gedore magic.

Yes I know but it's a little annoying. My carolus 1/4 sliding T-handle and extension have significantly less play. Guess it's because of the locking. The 1/4 gedore sliding T-handle wihtout the locking have also less play.
Ηowever the 1/2 with the locking construction have close to zero play.

Nice shopping congratulation!
It still work right:thumbup:

Thanks.
Yes it's highly functional.

I bought it from the local gedore dealer. I think that the appearance hasn't changed. At least not since I was a child.

As for the quality, I am not an expert but I think it is very good. Νot as good as on my old nws, but nothing to the functionality.

The edges are not smooth.

Very nice stuff Rusik. Were tools from some of the former eastern block countries considered better quality than others?

It is difficult to answer briefly. All products of the Eastern bloc were valued for their quality. Quality was acceptable and stable. I do not compare with Western Europe. Because the goods from there was very little

The after pics. Top to bottom

Looks much better now :)

Those pliers looks good. Happy with them?

they´re new, i didn´t used them. But i have another similar set but i only use it at home that means not very often (cutting welding wire, cutting wire rope from the Shimano gear thingy etc.) but they work :) I like the design and color combination and the matt chrome finish and the handles :)

Monte is these new? They Have some differences from those on the catalogue.
This little mark does not exist in what I saw in the shop and and I think the finish in the 8250 is slightly different (maybe not).

I think they are older, from 2005. The new ones don´t have these marks i think. Not at the internet pics at least etc. The newer set i pictured above also don´t have the marks. (Look at the side cutters , the "K" ("Kraft") model) See also 3 pics below:

ps: nice bit set ! Did you already try it ? Is the bit holder good ? Or out of round (wobble ) ?

btw:

8250 vs. 8245

note the joint location:

Nice "K" pliers, didn't know about this new model with "arrows"

i think they´re older. The included leaflet says something like "Aktion05" so i think they´re from their sales promo ("Aktion") 2005 (08/05 ....August 2005)

here a video in english where you can the press shop, paint shop etc.:
so it seems they actually make them :)

I meant USA, lots of stuff(clothing, etc.) I see with that 3M Thinsulate label is made in USA. :)

i dunno the gloves have no coo, the Thinsulate info sticker says "printed in Japan" so maybe...... japan ?

I walk everywhere or carpool. The Phaeton looks ok and is German made but its a Volkswagon... Also theres no dealer for that in my county.

you could import one :)

A radio dealer I know has one of those. Its very well made. I had the Western counterpart with crude finish and cheap aluminium frame(it used to be steel with polished finish on Walther P38...) Walther P1.

You didn't like the P1 ?! A friend of mine had one, ok the black phosphated finish was typical "Bundeswehr" and different than the Zella Melhis era but still a nice piece of German post-war enginering:drool:

Nope it had a nice trigger and left ejecting but I didn't really care for it. I had another gun from Germany I really liked Heckler & Kock VP70. I don't think it was legal because when you added a stock it would fire 3 round bursts. :)

vp70.gif

I didn't like the long heavy DAO trigger but it felt good in my hand and held like 19 rounds.
