Here are "documentary" from Ferrari Factory, where at that time one of first 458 Italias is in production line.
Note, how much of human touch is involved, (and look the tools
)
I have visit Ferrari factory two times,
The Foundry, If you work this particular indastry, you understand how difficult stuff it is made perfect parts out of "boiling" aluminium, these guys have being doing it for more then 60-years.
Ferrari has made all it's engines from start and there are many hundres of different models. Specially like X-ray machine, it sures that parts are exactly what they should be. I also saw casting of F1 engine.
mechanical works
It surprice how low noise plant this was, and how clean. from 1982 this part of plan has being mostly filled with robots but before that it was all hand made. Modern engines can not be made without tools like that.
Engine Assembly
bodyshell area (Or compleatly diffrent factory; Scaglietti)
When I visit this factory, first thing was how it all starts; A man place peace of aluminium tube to jig and starts to TIG weld other aluminium tubes to it. (Welding machines are excatly same you migth use) few years ago THERE WAS NO ROBOTS in this factory and workers where very proud that they got SELF MOOVING production line. Before that workers used to push cars to next stasion, how they have done it for 50-years.
What you do not see, how bodypanels are hand crafted to car.
I see, worker are very proud for theyr firts robot in this factory.
paint shop (basicly you can't visit this factory, as it is dust sensitive)
Assembly line (it just blows your mind, how hand crafted these cars are)
part1
part2
One of my 25- year old Ferrari still got chalk markings on door frame where Ferrari worker has maked drilled holes on door, so he/her can drill holes to door sill, so it can be srew in plase.
After this cars are tested on roads, every morning you wakeup sound of five roadtest cars to start, what a way to wake up!
