Olafur, I just about creamed my pants. Thanks.

Here's an interesting direction lever on a ratcheting wrench, something I've never seen before. Have any of you seen this before in a different brand?

Wow I've only seen the bayonets converted to screwdrivers(to comply with out ban on spike bayos...) Also are those live grenades for sale there?
Luckily no or it surely would be interesting on holidays with fireworks. Ban on bayonets? That sounds stupid. Yeah, I will use this ancient bayonet to murder somebody beause knives are so hard to get!? ;)

That Fiskars shovel also comes as the Gerber NATO shovel, and can be had for $35-$45 in the USA.
But of course it can  Its funny how everything Finnish is about 50% cheaper abroad compared to our domestic pricing. They say bigger market is the reason but if its all made in here and then 90% is exported and sold at 50% it would make sense that the goods that are not exported would be cheaper (bigger market brings the volume that makes the manufacturing cheaper). After all it doesn't cost any more to make those goods that are sold locally. But they are just ripping us off with way bigger margin here.

Today there was a Vintage car market here in Västerås. It was indoors, in the city sports arena. Many car and motorcycle parts, some random vintage stuff and some random ****. There was two sellers that had mostly tools. One of them had a lot of new Taiwan stuff, and all the used stuff in big crates. Anything marked Bahco or Sandvik were expensive, but there was a lot of "Made in Germany" wrenches for 10:- a piece. Grabbed some of those, will post that later.

The other one had more stuff for collectors, I took some pics:

Who makes that beam torque wrench?

@Monte What do you think on the whole made in europe thing? Also I know they have finished radios in stores but this is the first I've seen made in Europe instead of designed there... Also if you know of any still made there I would love to know, I know Philips made some in Austria in the 90s(maybe earlier...) but not sure about now.

i think the EU wanted/wants to drop the "made in Germany" etc. so maybe the companies put "Made in EU" on the products so they don´t get problems if the EU should make a law about that. And/Or maybe because like you said - to hide certain coo´s like Steinel for example where the package reads: "Steinel - German Quality - Made in Europe" and in small print: "Assembled by Steinel Romania"....

Most electronic/Audio/TV etc. companies went out of business or are just brand names anymore, Telefunken, Grundig, Nordmende etc...
However there are some high-end audio manufacturers left in germany like www.audiophysic.de www.taelektroakustik.de www.burmester.de www.canton.de www.audionet.de www.phonosophie.de www.alfredfehrenbacher.de www.thorens.com ...

edit: found a list of manufacturers of high-end audio components: https://ssl.highendsociety.de/deutsch/society/mitglieder.php

But I have something that I am sure you find interesting. My dad bought this this Soviet multitool in late '70s or early '80s from some surplus store.

now that looks like a cool (and useful) tool !!!!:pimpflash

It's "brother" of the REMS wrench. Distributor said that both made in one factory in Slovenia (or Slovakia). Is it true that REMS wrenches are not true Aryans now?

Maybe made by Unior ?

http://www.unior.com/product/pipe-wrench-45-swedish-pattern-s-form-482-6

"Samurai" (COO Japan)
Wrench is real good:thumbup:

Looks almost swedish

Here is an example of such a label "Made in Europe."
Drill. Sparky

made in Bulgaria !?!

the tapes look nice !! Made in Belgium ?

Some antidote for my recent Taiwan tool purchases...

wow very nice wrench collection !!!!!!
The Garant flash light looks nice too ! Ho do you like it ?
And why was everything for free ?? I want too !! :D

Monte:
Sorry about late reply - I actually don't know what happened to my Hazet socket. I have to call CSI I guess. Many people have had access to the set for many years and still do. One of them must have found frozen bolt or nut somewhere.

i think i should send you a padlock ;)

It was made by Saltus, don't have any item nr though.

Nice tool. I would buy it all!

I wouldn't be able to afford it...

Impressive pics. :)

Too bad is was only one stand though...

Cool!
Thanks for sharing.
I loved the oil dispensers!

I think (not sure) that the K on one of the cans stands for "Koppartrans", a Swedish oil company.

You must come to Big Meet! Since you're into american cars it's just right for you. And you'll get to experience the swedish "raggar"-culture.

I kind of regret that I didn't get those NOS pliers. At ~€6 a piece they were not that expensive.

Bahco stuff is quite common here, but still expensive. It's almost the only collectible tool brand.

And yes, it is Saltus.

oh that hazet brake tool looks handy - how much is that?

Yesterday I picked up my Bosch GSR 10,8-2-LI it came with a battery charger of course an L-Boxx, flashlight plus an extra battery.

So far I am quite impressed by the "made in malaysia" quality. Guess I will use it alot and the makita drill will stay most of the time in the garage. Looks like the GSR has enough power for most of the jobs I have to tackle.

Too bad my stahlwille kit that I bought is still in shipping :(

[Used wrenches]

Two Biltema wrenches! Must have come in from Finland. Not a great wrench, but fun to see in Russia! Biltema is a Swedish low-price chain of auto parts.

For me, today was a day of destruction... This is what happened to my 7mm slotted Wera chiseldriver today. I don't blame the quality though, I put a lot of weight on it for such a small driver. I'm just surprised it's not bent like a banana. The bent one is moved to the "abuse tools" box, and the pictured "spare one" I had has taken its place in the toolbox.

And I also did this
IMG_1395.jpg

to these
IMG_1396.jpg

IMG_1398.jpg

All this destruction was caused trying to remove a wheel bearing... I got it off at last though, with the help and strength of the whole garage. That's a good thing with shared garages!

Maybe someone slept at the printing machine.... :)

it seems screwdrivers and drill bits don´t like ball bearings :) (or vice versa ) :)

I have a set of wire strippers, same idea as this picture just an older version. Something i've never seen here in Canada before. I got them when i lived in England, my dad bought them for me when i was in college.

Says they were made in Germany on the side!

Biltema is super popular in Finland so some are very likely to leak over the border. And I can see Russian tourists in Biltema stores almost every time I go there.

If you pass their cheapest offerings you can find quite good stuff actually. Their "10 year warranty" tools are often very usable (and have quite nice finish). I think they come from Taiwan. I especially like their stubby wrenches, ratchetting combos. Also their sockets have very tough surface and are perfect when working outside on bare ground.

In fact many of the tools I use "outside" are Biltema 10 year stuff.

I'll add a photo just for illustrative purposes, even if TW wasn't part of the classical old world and Ptolemy couldn't even dream about it ;)

Here is a Facom No.40 wrench I bought used when I was in my 1st technical job some 20 years ago. Its been with me ever since. I suspect it was made in 80's (?).

I have lots of other brands and now use mostly SO in garage. But, I really like the feel of this Facom wrench so it remains in my 1st line of tools at home. During the weekend I found a good deal on Facom 40-series wrench set (it doesn't include the 18 I already have) and ordered them. From what I have read they are nomore as nice as the old ones. And from photos they no longer seem polished like this one, the writing on them is less refined etc. But I hope they still have the same shape and feel. Lets see.

EDIT: from the small photo I have the new ones do not say "France" anymore, instead it says OGV which stands for Facoms version of FD on the ring end. Pic of the set attached.
