:eyecrazy::shocking::willy_nil god no !!!! :D Only the lower priced tools !!!!

ow.. ok. :D Thats nice! It's very easy for me to find bosch and metabo. My gedore dealer has them both. :D

...if it says "Germany" :D ;)

That's what i thought. ;)

For which tasks do you (or I :D) need one ?

I take it before i buy my 3/8 set. The 1/2 was to bulky in some circumstances and i was needed more leverage for some allen bits in my motorcycle. Now that I have 3/8 socket's, 3/8 to 1/4 bit adapter and long allen keys i don't use it a lot. But I still use it some times with 10cm extension or bigger because i like his swivel head. I'm also very impressed with his durability. I loosen, up to 8mm allen bolt with it and some times 14mm screws and his head is still tight. Υou might find useful the 180 degree swivel head.

I use my 1/4 quite a lot in motorcycles.

Got myself an almost new angle grinder today for 55 euro. very nice deal.
A new here in Sweden costs 150-180 Euro.
It´s a Hitachi G13SB3 1300W 125mm disc, COO Ireland.
Don´t know if this one have constant power, or what it is calling?
Like the feel of it anyway...:rocker:

Must be at least 10 years ago when I was last time on a flea market. Here they are normally very very small and the bigger ones are over 50min away. Luckily I was near by this sunday so I took a peak and was very dissapointed: very bad prices 5bucks for a used gedore screwdriver when you get the whole 5 piece kit for around 20euros or so.

Picked up this grip plier. Its only the second that I ever bought and way better compared to the first chinese model that I also have.

The Metabo + Bosch tools have the COO on the tools so you could check them out. Bosch tools aways say "Made in...." , Metabo sometimes only "Made by Metabo" or nothing, that are the imported ones
That's what i thought. ;)

oh that´s gonna be expensive, to buy the 1/4" breaker bar and a motorcycle so i can use the tool :D ;) ...but maybe for a bicycle :pimpflash

Monte, Lowe's here in the states has those rails on sale for $5.99 I believe. Just picked up two of them for 1/2" drive shallow impact sockets and one for 3/8" drive hex sockets.

They come in all drive sizes, both colors if you need to differentiate between metric and inch sizes.

Here is the metric 1/2"

http://www.lowes.com/pd_338548-2232...&Ntt=socket+rails&pl=1&currentURL=&facetInfo=
That´s a good price ! but i´m looking for something with a magnet like this:

"Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster"
"Deutsches Reich" is how Germany was called from 1871 to 1945, and "Gebrauchsmuster" means something like: "utility patent" or "design patent".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsches_Reich
Saltus was founded in 1919 so the wrench is from between 1919-1945.

It is 4".
It's an old stock. It's very hard to find it. This one is from the time that the adjustable wrenches of Gedore manufactured in Germany. Now they are from africa or Austria. Africa i think.
Don't ask the price. I don't remember exactly but I take it almost for free. I'm sure that my dealer has more. At least few months before he had around 10 pieces. I can ask him if you want. I hope that i can take it in a good price.

You are right. This stigma of the plant. But people do not ever wonder who made the instrument. Often the stigma of simply missing. In the USSR there was no competition. Therefore, the plants were still in his name.
It's hard to describe the whole situation. Interferes with my bad English.

i think the same than in eastern germany where one or two factories made a specific product and the price was set by the government and only these products were available and nothing else hence no competition and no need for brand names. Ok you could choose between a Trabant or Wartburg :)

Ok! but I need to get permission from the owner first...

Nice old tools, it great for collector's:thumbup:
it easy to find old tools in your country?

I'm not so much collecting (at least not in the collector/museum sense), just looking for tools that I can use that are reasonable quality and cheap. I used to have a small but fairly well equipped garage in Canada, but when I moved to the UK I had to sell it all and give away what wasn't sold. I'm now trying to build up my garage again, but on a budget so I have to shop hard for bargains :)

Wise or not, I tend to buy what I might need when it's cheap, rather than what I do need that might be expensive.

I don't find it very easy to find used tools here (apart from ebay/internet of course), but it may be that I just don't know where to look. Lately though at our small local car boot sale, there's been an old guy with a table and several boxes worth of tools. Most of it is not metric, and quite a lot would be more suitable to tool collectors than tool users, but he doesn't mind me digging through the boxes and seems to give me a pretty fair price.

I have a few Lidl and Aldi power tools that I'm really happy with. Probably not suitable for very heavy or professional use, but excellent quality for the money - certainly better than the cheap options from Screwfix in my experience.

And here's pics of the King **** stuff I bought a few weeks back. Maybe I'm being overly picky, but I'm not impressed with the quality of finish, although it may turn out they're sturdy.

The spanners (used -a large set but just one pictured as an example) particularly seem very over-built although also very heavy and crude.

The nut spinners are brand new and also don't show much care for quality of finish. They're not marked with a COO or material, so they may well be cheap imported **** with the King **** name staped (badly) on. The only thing that makes me think they might be English made is the consistently poor finish shared with the made-in-England KD spanners.

I wouldn't buy this brand again unless perhaps I had a chance to inspect the tool in person first. I'm not sure how this is one of the few English made brands to survive. Maybe nobody was interested in taking them over. It's certainly not immediately obvious how they've earned a reputation for quality tools.

Here's an example of what I mean when I say the King **** spanners are over-built. A comparison of a Gedore 24/30 and a KD 28/30:

The Gedore is almost obscured behind the KD :)

30mm ends side-by-side:

View media item 21333
View media item 21332
And if the images don't say it all, I dragged out the wife's digital kitchen scales (shhhhh!):

Gedore: 555g
KD: 1006g

So you could almost make two Gedore spanners from the metal in one KD! :eyecrazy:

These must be made for working on tanks, tractors, and lorries...

Just £33 + £5 shipping for the set actually. I did have to wait a week as they didn't have them in stock, but last I looked they were still advertising them at that price.

CanUK---"Heavier" does not mean better, it usually means they are trying to make up for quality steel by using "More" metal...a lower grade, less temper holding, metal.

You figure it out with time....for me, it's like looking at adjustable wrenches.

The higher grade stuff will have thinner jaws, that open a bit more. It takes more strength to do both jobs-pulling on a larger nut, with less metal on the tool.

Does that make sense to you??? ;)

It does, which is why I posted so many pics with comments voicing my disappointment with King **** quality ;)

Maybe I wasn't as clear as I thought I was though?

I snapped a picture of my Dad's "red handled pliers". I'm not too sure how old they are and quite frankly he doesn't remember when he bought them. They've just always been there. They saw extensive use while I was moonlighting as a bicycle repairman in grade school some 20 years ago.

CanUK, pics as promised.

The top 2 spanners (12x13mm open end and ring) were purchased back in the late 80's, the bottom one (18x19mm open end) was purchased in the late nineties, as you can see they had already changed the pattern.
KD1.jpg

Notice the recessed panels on the earlier spanners.
KD2.jpg

And again
KD3.jpg

Whereas the nineties model is just engraved.
KD4.jpg

IIRC KD went bust at some point towards the end of the eighties, hence why i never completed the set, but were bought out by the management, unfortunately all my local stockists stopped stocking KD at that time.

they only sell Screwfix hand tools etc. over here, so i have no experience with that brand, but many people seem to be happy with their Parkside or "Duro" (Aldi) tools , sometimes it seems to be a hit or miss though like the Parkside electric stapler which is not powerful enough (my father owns one)

These arrived today (£33 + shipping):

Monte-that arbor on the hole-saw looks to have had the collar slip back...hate it when that happens, the two pins slip back and the arbor gets stuck. A ****** to take apart after that.
