tighten the loose screws in her head ? :)

she was car mechanic for 3 years (apprentice)

So I'm guessing you're not a fan? :D

lookin good !

Thanks! Took a while to drill the Cr-V, but it's a lot better than having to try to grip it with greasy hands.

several years ago she had her own show with 2 other girls on german tv. they all had their own character one was miss tuning at that time, she was the mechanic and also went to "car school" at that time where I think she passed.

now she does several projects, every now and then appears on the television and is a hazet promo person.

lol
=)

Ouch! Well, she handled it like a pro though (in front of the audience at least).

I've been meaning to do the same with mine - both to slow any prospective theives, and so I can see in the top :D

Nice setup!

from the flea market:

Femi NG120 band saw www.femi.it
max capacity: 120mm, variable speed (35 - 80 m/min), 1200 Watt, cast aluminium/steel construction

That's a nice saw, good find!

That looks great, congrats. I'm sure the vice will see lots of use.

Do you have any other (read bigger) toolbox or only Assistant and the cantilever box? I'm only asking as I was doing away with my small Assi for some time before I decided to consolidate all my tools in one place. This called for a rollcab as things like saws, hammers, pry bars just wouldn't fit in the 166C I had my eyes on. Basically, my question is this. Would you at some point upgrade to a bigger storage or just add another Assistent?

There's not a huge amount of storage in even the 166. I have a few small toolboxes, wall cabs and shelves. Currently no large roll cab. I'd like to get a full size Hazet, even a 177 maybe, but it would just be too expensive to get here.

...
they donate you one for $415.- :)

...

I don't need one that bad. I go to Germany every year, so maybe I'll pick one up at some point.

You know which I one I was referring to by 166 "C", this one:

I used to have lots of smaller plastic boxes and tubs with this and that, even some shelving. Putting it all in a rollcab was a great way of making everything a lot more accessible and useable! But I guess I just like the idea of having Hazet tool carts, hence my question. I have to somehow justify the need for a tool cart over the common-sense-roll-cab to myself! LOL

I'd like to see the look on the face of a border control officer when he's double checking what you're trying to import:

- Is there a vice in your suitcase, sir?

- Err... yes?

LOL!

I brought tools back the past couple years. No problem. Now, I think if I'd had to explain what saumagen was last year, I might have had a problem. Brought back weisswurst this year. ;)

Wow, that looks super nice! Love the colour combination too. How does it feel to pull/push those drawers? Can you compare it to say Halfords Pro/Ind box?

Oh, btw. Is the paper roll dispenser a standard item on these or did you fabricate? I need one!

The drawers are nice and smooth. They're from the cheaper/smaller end of Beta's range, but I have no real complaints about quality or weight. I suppose I could criticise the plastic drawer pulls, but they're more than sturdy enough for home kit.

I paid far less than list for each component, so I think it's terrific for what I paid. If I had paid full pop I wouldn't be upset, but I might not love it quite as much if that makes sense.

I haven't looked too closely at the Halfords boxes, so I couldn't really compare (although I prefer having the extra drawers in the Beta), but I gather they're exceptional value -especially when they throw in the top box for free. I have thought about getting a few of the roller cabs to replace the shelves under my worktop, but I'd have a hard time convincing the Mrs that I really need the extra storage :)

The paper roll holder is a Beta accessory - I think I paid £17 for it. There's npot a lot to it though so it wouldn't be difficult to fab something up -especially if you don't need to match the orange paint :)

Thanks for your reply. I checked some of the Beta stuff before and found it to be on the expensive side. Your box set on ebay is like £1200! I paid a quarter of this for my Halfy chest and got the top box for free as you mentioned. Then I added Sealey step up box, something Halfords don't offer. For the money I can't be happier and now that I ditched the castors, it is far more pleasing to an eye and far sturdier. Do you have shots of the drawers? If you posted them before, can you give the link. Thanks bud

Yeah I think I'm <£800 for the stack. Still not cheap, but at £1200 I'd probably be looking for a Lista :)

Here's some pics of a few standard-depth drawers. I think they're 70mm deep off the top of my head.

1/2" drive drawer:

3/8" drive drawer:

1/4" drive drawer (with some 1/2" hex bits - I'm disorganised):

Spanners -these racks would actually sit front to back, I just need to trim a little off the ends. This also a standard-depth drawer, but with an added 12mm of foam in the bottom (no reason other than the weight of the spanners helping to flatten it out as it came off a roll -the drawers all came with liners)

Hammers in a deeper drawer -again also with 12mm of foam. You can see in this shot that the backs of the drawers slide well clear of the front of the cabinet:

Nice Beta box!
I picked up this used Stahlwille 3/4 ratchet set yesterday.
Sockets range from 22 mm to 50 mm.
Guess I did a good deal for 175 euro.

generally not a big fan of TV shows where people work on cars because either they have no clue or hackjob the car together....or both.... :)

what type drill bit did you use ?

That's a nice saw, good find!
yeah pretty nice for 50€ :)

These arrived today. Must have been made during Oktoberfest or something because the smaller ones are bit lacking in attention to detail, but they were inexpensive and I'm pleased with them overall.

Again, like the offset ring spanners, an interesting mix of COO stamps; "Made in Germany", "Germany", and this time also "W.-Germany".

I'm likin' that FACOM wrench/breaker bar/whatever ! It looks very beefy...

They are pretty cool -I have a set and you can insert a cheater bar into the long end, or through the short end (there's a hole in the bend).

These arrived today - great shape apart from a little wear to the finish. £2.27 shipped for the pair on ebay, but not as good a bargain as Drakfire's 3-euro find!

True, at least with most american shows. I think some of the british ones are decent (and also show more actual work, instad of just montages).

what type drill bit did you use ?

A regular HSS bit. Veeery slow RPM and plenty of cooling. I still think the bit is pretty much junk now though.

Well, it has taken many evenings over several weeks, but I have finally read this thread to the end.

Wow, so many wonderful tools! Thank you everyone for sharing your pictures and information!

I was hoping more would show up today, but so far only these. They were sold as made in Germany, but no real indication whether that's true. Paid just £1 each though, so not to fussed.

Rusik. Are there any name specific tool only brands of socket and wrench sets from Russia or the older USSR? Or were they like many other things and made by companies that made just about everything?

Sorry. I do not quite understand the question. You ask the name of the manufacturer?

I got some shiny PB Swiss goodies in the mail today. Great experience ordering from Toollady, super fast shipping and she threw in a folding frisbee, too.

The offset Phillips are nice -- instead of putting a different size on each end, the have the same size but rotated 45°. This way, you can advance the screw even if you only have 45° of swing. There have been a couple of places these bad boys would have saved me a lot of work. Now I'll be prepared for the next time. The slotted drivers have the famous PB Swiss parallel tips as expected. Good stuff.
