I think Screwfix offered 9" + 4.5" combo for like £89 inc VAT. Hitachi though. Here: http://www.screwfix.com/c/tools/angle-grinders/cat830694?cm_sp=Tools-_-PowerTools-_-Grinders

Couple of weeks back Costco MK had CSPS toolbox for sale that I really liked. Wood top and quite heavy. I think it was £249 or something like that. Good value.

What were you doing in MK? I live around the corner from Costco. Should have popped in! ;)

We go into Costco probably once/month to stock up on nappies/wipes, dry goods, meat (best fresh burger patties around) etc. I took that pic when I was down there on a course the other week though.

Those CSPS stainless workbench/cabinets have got to be about the best value going. I may have to get one one day (and then find some space for it). I'm sure the pro guys will poo-poo them, but it'd more than suit me just fine.

Is the place you got the Bahco cabs close to Costco?

 Found in the UK?

Yeah, was listed as "1/4 socket ratchet" and came up whilst searching for Toyota Crown spares. :headscrat

Does anyone know if this would be available at any Costco? Might be a good idea to borrow the FIL's card and "just happen to come across" this. :)

Wow that's a great find! I just won a new set of Koken flex sockets for cheap that were listed as "Kokem" - gotta love a good ebay typo.

The cabinets should be available at any Costco, but they're not always in stock. Maybe ask your FIL to keep an eye out, or just pop in with him one day and have a word with someone at the customer service desk. I would be surprised if they didn't turn up again before Xmas.

Not walking distance but not far either. 10 mins drive. Why, you need 2 mint Bahco cabs? I know someone who might have them for sale! :)

WOW! I can't believe you got them that cheap. Congrats, that's uber bargain!

Yeah £15 plus shipping I couldn't say no. Still not as epic as the £5 Nepros Van Steele got though.

I can say no to the Bahco cabs however - I'm going to have a hard enough time dodging the verbal-venom when the Mrs spots the new side cab! Especially as I gave her grief about buying another set of boots the other day - talk about bad timing on my part! :headscrat

Very nice. :)
Looking forward for a mini review Cyrus.

Of course:) It seems that Gedore mini bolt cutters are very similar to Knipex cobolt in terms of jaw thickness and hardness ,62-65 hrc rockwell, however I'm not gonna use them on any hardened bolts as my last effort to cut a 3mm hardened bolt put a small nick on my knipex cobolt ( picture below). My knipex centre cutter cut the same bolt easily.:rocker:

In this picture you can see difference between knipex centre cutter(bottom) vs bolt cutter

I have a Knipex CoBolt too and I've abused it a lot. The thickest bolt I've cut with it was 8 mm. Needles to say it didn't cut it at once. I made more than 10 cuts to narrow the diameter down to 5 or 6 mm and then I've managed to cut it. So I've cut the other 3 too. The blades have 2 or 3 nicks but the CoBolt still works great.

I have considered of getting a pair of Knipex 10" diagonal cutters, but I most likely will get a 10" center cutters instead. Too bad that they don't come with the dual component handles ... :(

Yes, but you know my last knipex cobolt didn't last long, I put a nick in the jaw:(. it's not knipex fault ,All compact bolt cutters feature narrow jaws which isn't very long lasting . If you want something that lasts ,for cutting hard wire, nothing can beat Knipex centre cutters... I'am telling you boy I have these ,which have been used and abused for years, and still cut like a new:

In this picture you can see difference between knipex centre cutter(bottom) vs bolt cutter
Thanks for the pic ! I always thought that the Knipex bolt cutters are the top of the line cutters and not the centre cutters ! But it seems now that i need some centre cutters too :)

mmmmhhh Knipex or VBW ? new school or old school ? :)

35.- €/hour = 280.- €/day = 6160.- €/month woww!!:bowdown: wage 4 day works in Germany = wage 22 days works in Malaysia as an junior engineers :headscrat do they need foreign workers? :D

Like "Van Steele" pointed out thats about the average costs for an employee.
In the manufacturing sector it´s much less, assembling power tools maybe get you an income of 10 or 12 € per hour minus 9,8% pension insurance, 8,2% health care, 1,5% unemployment insurance, 1,225% long term care insurance, of course income tax and 9% church tax on the income tax....if you are in the union you have to pay too. So there is not much left. And the weather is ****** :). As an engineer you can earn much more of course.

Currently there are 8622 jobs as a "mechanical engineer" in germany for you :)

I do not know year of manufacture.
I have any idea where I could find it. (We're talking about HAZET 12/13 wrench on page 617).

@ MONTE, do you know the year of manufacture? I'd appreciate it, I'm very interested about this data :)

Nepros NBR2UN 1/4 drive ratchet for just a tad over a fiver.
The eBay picture doesn't do it justice, this thing is like a mirror. The thought of using, and scratching it scares me. Can I just blame you lot for turning me into a tool polisher? :p
those ratchet for display not suitable for works:D

With €35.00 being an average, some will make more but many will make less. A lot of companies and even whole industry sectors also have collective agreements on working time reduction - 36 hours being quite common.
That €35.00 is also the cost to the employer, so after deduction of taxes, social security and contributions for a myriad of other things, you'll be lucky to end up with half of it in your bank account. Then you'll pay income tax on that ...
eerrr...but I'm sure it better than here:sad:

Grip On locking pliers
nice..
It's easy to get Grip On in Manila?

I must admit that I don't know much about Malaysia other than the stereotype that "the weather is good", but you're probably right.
Seriously though, I think the Manufacturing Industry in Europe is now facing it's biggest challenge yet, with many companies also having plants in China and other Far-East Countries.
The company I work for has 2 plants in Europe and one in China and India each, all the know-how and expertise that was built up here during many years of hard work by our employees, from high to low, is being drained to China and India with nothing in return. The same thing with investments, whilst they may spend the odd penny here -but only if they really have to- the real money is being spent there. (Except for the God of Health and Safety, but that's only to limit the managment's liability)
The advantage our people still have is that they can handle the challenging stuff, and that they are masters in finding solutions for every problem they might encounter.
I don't know if you're an engineer in what seems to be the now common used (English) sense of the word, or a "proper" Engineer -as in Monte's link, Dipl.-Ing. in German- but if you're up for it, I welcome you to join us.

That Koken flex socket set retails for over $160.00 Koken is excellent stuff. They're like the Japanese Snap-On. BTW Koken makes the impact drivers OEM for a lot of top brands, including Hazet.

I am proud owner of three generations HAZET 12/13 spanner, here are pictures:

I purchased some catalogs from member "sunny" who is my favourite tool guy locally here. (Thanks Sunny!) I have a price guide from 1961 which shows your bottom wrench although the picture isn't too clear in the price guide as it's small. My 81 price guide and 85 catalog show the middle wrench nice and clear and we all know the "N" series is the current version of the wrenches. Thats as close as I can date them from what I have available.

Check out this tote box, has anyone ever seen one of these? (prices are 1961 Canadian)

Hazet802ToteSm577_zpsc29af392.jpg

For the Hazet crowd I just posted some 300 dpi shots of some assistant pages in this thread:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=165636

Here are a few more cover shots from the 1961 price guide. They should print up nicely if you drag them to your desktop.

Looking for a metric and AF spanner set made by format-tools. Does anyone know of where to find format brand tools (including hammers)?

It's a little strange to have better durability the cobolt than mini bolt. But the pictures speak for themselves.
I also have the mini bolt cutter from kinipex and it also has some nicks. But it still works great. I have cut 3.5 till 5mm hardened bolts several times. :D
