Good action pics, lok. What is the bike? Nice brakes on it :). Those gedore pliers look much beefier than the Knipex version I have. The knipex never impressed me.

Ιn previous post I added another one that I had forgotten.

Bart thanks a lot but I don't know what the "beefier" means. Is that good?

If it means something like "solid" then yes, they are. I don't know what version of knipex you have but the combination is the "k" version of gedore (more leverage). So long I'm very satisfied with them. They have good handle, good cut and the chrome hold up very well so far even on the cutting edges.

I believe that knipex are equally good or better than Gedore on pliers. Not in functionality but for example the edges on knipex are smoother.

I don´t know how long the cutting edges and the teeth will hold up on my own but I know that the knipex has great resistance and durability.

If the knipex are less bulky this is not wrong.

One more older photo for you.

Edit. The bike is an xtz660 Tenere 08.

I used to have the same pair of diagonal cutters - total piece of ****. I had to cut 5 or 6 nails (2 or 2,5 mm thick, but not steel nails) and the jaws looked like I've cut nails with twice the thickness.
I finished the job and threw them into the trashcan.
The combination pliers in your previous post however, the 8250-180 are very good. They came in the same set with the diagonal cutters and a pair of water pump pliers.

have it for some time and it's not the first time that I cut a nail. It still has a very clean cut even in thin wires of a cable.

OK, they were not the same. Mine were 160 mm, but with the same "K", made in Austria too.

I don't know! :dunno: My old orbis plier can cut the same nail with much more effort but with out any nick on the cutting edges. What can I say!

Besides I don't get the gedore because I believe that they are better than knipex for e.g. but because I found them in better price.
A few time ago I also buy the mini bolt cutter (from knipex this time) so now it's not necessary to cut thick metals with the diagonal cutter. Only in places that the mini bolt can not fit. So I hope to last for a long time.

I don't know either, man. Maybe mine were from a bad batch or ... I don't know.
I like Gedore's ratchets and wrenches very much, but since that happened I was disappointed with their pliers.
Never mind.

Beefier means bigger or stronger. These are my Knipex. Not too impressed with them, they seem pretty fragile. I only use them for specific small tasks, so maybe they will be fine. Edit: only referring to the electrical pliers. The pliers wrench is nice.

Maybe nails from Greece have also had a "economic decline" and are not so strong!

Sorry, was to easy!

Maybe you are right. Or the Germans know how to make tools. :D

I'm a hobby user so maybe my opinion is not representative.

The plier wrench is nice. I have the 86 05 180. Very durable and thick chrome plate and great functionality. I don't worry about his durability.

The electrical plier is thin. I don't remember if is thiner than the gedore though. It manufacturing for electrical jobs and for this purpose is nice but I believe that both are good for also heavier tasks.

Here a bad photo with a bending type needle nose plier.

I own those same needle nose. I love mine but I use mine on a daily basis for electrical. Your are correct on the feeling a little fragile. Thats because they are electricians pliers. They are meant for stripping wire and bending and moving wire. Not really meant to bolt grabbing for holding items to much. Each is there own and my guess your work with them is more mechanical rather the electrical like me. I would be happy to take those off your hands.

Nice neat and cozy shop Angoo. Is it always so neat and tidy or is that because your wife was working in there just prior to taking the photos? ;)

Saw a few old-world "tools" today as I had a personal tour of the Petronas Mercedes F1 facilities. It was awesome :eyecrazy:

I sat in an F1 car (no small feat as I'm 6'4" - getting out was hard work!). Pics were understandably limited, but I'll upload what I can, when I can.

why replace Makita ?

Its just a 12v drill and old NimH technology. Although the battery is not fully dead and its quite powerful for that voltage I want to replace it with some good quality bosch 18v stuff.

Stahlwille, Liqui Moly, Wera, Bosch, Unior and some asian stuff in action :)
toolsinaction.jpg

I am now heading back to the garage to clean up all the stuff.

Can't wait for photos! I love field trips!!! ;)

:+1:

BTW, Angoo you have very nice character shop, and I love that stout bench you made there! Very envious of your shop equipment.

Couple of Lindstrom tweezers.

Nice! We don't see very many Lindstrom items here...probably due to price.
May be one day I'll show my tweezers that are made in Pakistan. There's a whole industry over there for stainless steel tweezer making.

Some crappy phone pics I took some time ago using tools that make the job go easier:

An angled-head KTC "Profit" spanner along with my SEK branded bit ratchet with an original Robertson branded #2 square bit.

Thanks. They're brilliant for electronics work.

They're definitely pricey though, so I had to be patient to find these at a good price (both are discontinued in Lindstrom's catalog, but still made by Ideal-tek). Hard to find Ideal-tek in North America, but TDI carries them if you're interested, and seem to have decent prices (better value for the NC models vs. other competitors, such as Dumont; SA are much closer, but Ideal-tek offers SMD patterns that others don't which are highly useful).

Not been that impressed with the Pakistan made tweezers I've seen (been awhile though), but I do have hemostats made there that work well. Perhaps their QC has improved on the tweezers? Pics would be nice if it's not too much trouble.

The best thing about that counter top, its STEEL, and has the fasteners countersunk, so nothing is in the way.

The only draw back, I would have bent up a four inch lip on the back edge. Those exposed two by fours allow stuff to fall through, and little parts can sure be lost that way!

Guess a guy could add it later? Sure looks nice though! ;)

Are you talking about the orange car jack? It is a cheap one from Harbor Freight. Sure Europe has flat top jacks:

http://www.acjacks.com/

I think those are some of the best, but very expensive.

I meant the jack stands - and it seems that they are sold out - at least it says so on the ac webpage. Also on their germany site they are not mentioned in the catalog.

Look up ESCO jack stands, that's what I have. I know they are available from www.ultimategarage.com

Great thx - Ive seen also northern tool has them available for order and they ship to europe. Its a shame we dont get all the stuff here in europe that is available in the us.
Impact swivels for example - no big deal in the us but here they are not very common and mostly very expensive compared to the us.

Is this screwdriver "made in USA"... The TONG LEE tool company is obvious taiwanese

Well there you go -the Taiwanese are now outsourcing their cheap-tool production to America.. the new third-world :p

Actually, this screwdriver is made in Taiwan. The made in USA stands for the CA (cellulose acetate) plastic material of the screwdriver which really should have been imported from USA to Taiwan as it is not available in the Far East. Guided misperception...

My post was only meant as humour, but that is interesting never-the-less. Why is it that the CA is not available in Eastern Asia?

Nice..
The Ridgid is a us brand? How good they are? I have found some extractor.
This type.
Yes it is!
for me it's a good enough if I compare with all my adjustable wrenches I owned. A smooth jaw slide with minimum jaw "wobble".
Myadjwrenchcollection.jpg

...and the only one can beat Ridgid :D
260120112114.jpg

sorry to reposted them:D

Facom France. Comparison pics with Beta, Facom and Gedore soon.

It's new old stock gedore chisel before the habero era.
I mean this is not a Gedore habero but only Gedore. :)
Woww!!! that really nice tools:thumbup: where you get them, old stock?

Tried that. I can't even post links to images.
Edit: By the way,the MODOK boxes are a light green color, slightly more light/pale than stahlwille cases.
Anyway, here is a picture. MODOK boxes are the ones in the back of the picture.
nice boxes..

Bought these today:
They where a bit more money then I expected, but we will see how they last.
Before, I had my eyes on a set of Gedore screwdrivers, but somebody here influenced me to have look at these.:bounce:
you are so lucky to owned this awesome driver..
I only can dream it..

After a long Summer, finally time for a tour of the garden shed where we work on the bikes. This shed is only about 200 square feet, or about 18,5 square meters, and has been so full of repair bikes all season that we couldn't have good photos...until now.
Thanks!!!!!
Awesome shot and very nice workshop especially Gressel vice
the most intelligent bicycles workshop I ever seen.

Some acquisitions i´ve made during past six months.

2012-10-11134352_zps66681364.jpg

Got these yesterday. Unused Stahlwille wrenches from 24mm to 32mm. Source was Finnish internet auction site. Price was something 50% off retail.

2012-10-11134922_zpsc01769f5.jpg

Found this pressure regulator from flea market. Included oiler which wasn´t needed. It is German made Hoerbiger.

2012-10-11134954_zpse46c52e3.jpg

Gave my friend a vise that i found in scrap metal pile. He gave me these. Brand new Rapid stapler with pack of staples and some utility knife blades.

2012-10-11142409_zps9512b989.jpg

Speeder is Hazet, found from flea market, 5€. Two sockets 30 and 32mm are nos Stahlwille and swivel sockets are Ko-ken. Two wrenches Belzer 111m and Sandvik-Belzer 1952-m. Retaining ring pliers are Stahlwille.

2012-10-11142755_zps1dba56ce.jpg

Brake tool set is just taiwan or china made new product from local store.
Wrench found at one flea market. Price was only 4€ so i had to buy it.

Volkswagen timing tools are from internet auction. Price was roughly 1/3 from retail, so i could not help myself even though I don´t have any VAG -vehicle right now
